Druckfarbe

Printing ink
The invention relates to printing inks which can be used for printing on polymeric materials, glass or cellulose hydrate films or for coloring surfaces of the materials mentioned.
Printing inks are already known which contain various resins, linseed oil, pentaphthalene or glyptal varnish or mixtures of the varnishes mentioned, salts of the higher carboxylic acids, pigments and solvents.
E.g. a printing ink is known which contains a copolymer of vinyl acetate with vinyl chloride, linseed oil varnish, salts of the higher carboxylic acids as driers, pigments and solvents (see copyright of the USSR No. 159 918).
The known colors have poor adhesion to the polyethylene surface, which means that the printing on the polyethylene or its coloring are of poor quality.
In order to increase the adhesion of the colors to the polyethylene, the latter is treated with a gas flame before the colors are applied, a corona discharge is allowed to act on it or it is treated with solvents of various chemical substances.
Depending on the type of processing, this pretreatment of the polyethylene surface involves the use of complex equipment and the consumption of various chemical reagents, which makes the desired end product more expensive.
The aim of the present invention is to eliminate the above drawbacks.
The invention was based on the object of producing a printing ink which has high adhesion to low-density polyethylene (high-pressure polyethylene), which makes it possible to exclude the pretreatment of the polyethylene surface before the paint is applied to it.
The solution to the problem is a printing ink containing resins, linseed oil, pentaphthalene or glyptal varnish or mixtures of the varnishes mentioned, salts of the higher carboxylic acids, pigments and solvents, which is characterized in that it is a copolymer of butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and dimethylvinyläthinylcarbinol contains.
The paint according to the invention has a high level of adhesion to the surface of low-density polyethylene, which develops in the process of hot drying, which is carried out in the customary manner, at a temperature of 75-100 ° C. after the paint has been applied to the polyethylene surface. During the drying process, the polyethylene softens and the color diffuses into it at the same time. The intensity of the diffusion of the color depends on the temperature and the drying time as well as the nature of the polyethylene surface. The higher the temperature and the longer the drying time and the rougher the polyethylene surface, the greater the penetration of the paint into the polyethylene.
The printing ink according to the invention, which contains the copolymer of butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and dimethylvinyläthinylcarbinol in an amount of 10-1000 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of varnish, is expediently used
The printing ink according to the invention is produced by mixing the copolymer mentioned with linseed oil, pentaphthalene or glyptal varnish or mixtures of the varnishes mentioned, salts of the higher carboxylic acids as driers, pigments and solvents. Fillers can be added to the above-mentioned composition in order to obtain an opaque paint finish. Mixing with simultaneous crushing of the components takes place in ball or vibration mills as well as in conventional colors.
Grinding machines down to the required particle size and homogeneity of the paint components.
To prepare the paint according to the invention, linseed oil varnish of various degrees of polymerization can be used
Resinates, linoleates, naphthenates of calcium, manganese, lead, cobalt, aluminum and the like can be used as salts of the higher carboxylic acids which are used as driers. Pigments of organic or mineral origin can be used to prepare the composition mentioned.
Toluene, decalin, tetralin, nitro solvents, tetrachloromethane, trichlorethylene, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, turpentine oil and other organic solvents can be used as solvents.
Druckweiss is used as a filler.
The printing ink is prepared from the above components, which are conveniently taken in the following amounts: 100 parts by weight of varnish, 2 to 25 parts by weight of salts of the higher carboxylic acids, 10-1000 parts by weight of the copolymer of butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and dimethylvinylethinylcarbinol, 5-500 parts by weight pigment, 35 -100 parts by weight of solvent and, if necessary, up to 70 parts by weight of filler.
Before the printing ink according to the invention is used for printing on polymeric materials, glass or cellulose hydrate film or for coloring the surface of the materials mentioned, it must be diluted to the required viscosity with the solvent. This depends on the printing or coloring process for the materials in question.
The printing ink according to the invention can be used for stencil, offset, gravure and letterpress. Staining of the surface of the above materials is carried out by atomization or with a brush.
If the printing ink according to the invention is used for printing on high-density polyethylene (low-pressure polyethylene) or on polypropylene and when painting them, the surface of the materials mentioned must be pretreated in order to ensure high adhesion of the ink to the materials mentioned.
After printing on polymeric materials (with the exception of low-density polyethylene), glass or cellulose hydrate film) or after painting their surface, the printing ink is dried at room temperature for about 10-15 hours or with warming for a few minutes.
The printing ink applied to the low-density polyethylene (high-pressure polyethylene) must be dried under heating to 75-100 "CC for 30 minutes to develop the necessary adhesion of the printing ink to the polyethylene. The drying time depends on the drying temperature and the nature of the For example, after printing the printing ink on a polyethylene film with a thickness of about 50 R, it is dried for 3-3 minutes at a temperature of 90-95 C. After printing on the surface of a polyethylene bottle of 100 ml capacity with a Wall thickness of 1 mm, the printing ink is dried at a temperature of 90-95'C for 10 minutes.
In both cases, the same adhesion of the printing ink (400 p / cm) to the polyethylene surface is achieved.
After printing on glass and metal, drying of the printing ink is expediently carried out at a high temperature of about 150.degree. C. and after printing on cellulose hydrate film at a temperature of at most 70.degree.
For a better understanding of the present invention, the following examples of the preparation of the printing ink are given below.
example 1
In a ball mill 320 g of a copolymer of butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and Dimethylvinyläthi nylcarbinol, 310 g of pentaphthalene, 35 g of the mixture of resinates and linoleates of cobalt, aluminum, manganese and lead, 185 g of printing white, 100 g of Heliogen blue B and 100 g of toluene are introduced . The mixture is crushed in the mill for 10 hours.
The printing ink obtained has the following characteristics.
The time it takes for the paint to dry completely with a layer thickness of 2-3 tut on a polyethylene film at a temperature of 18-20CC is 5-6 hours and at a temperature of 90-950C 2-3 minutes.
The adhesion of the paint with a layer thickness of 2-3 Ft on a polyethylene film after drying at a temperature of 90-95 ° C for 3 minutes is 250 p / cm and after drying for 5 minutes 430 p / cm.
The adhesion of the paint with a layer thickness of 2-3 dd on the surface of a polyethylene bottle of 100 ml capacity with a wall thickness of 1 mm after drying at a temperature of 90-95'C for 5 minutes is 200 p / cm and after Drying for 10 minutes 420 p / cm.
The dried paint is elastic and does not age with prolonged storage in the air and when exposed to ultraviolet rays. It is resistant to the effects of water, alkalis, acids and organic solvents.
Example 2
In a ball mill 550 g of copolymer of butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and dimethylvinyläthinylcarbinol, 450 g of linseed oil varnish with a low degree of polymerization, 50 g of the mixture of resinates and linoleates of cobalt, aluminum, manganese and lead, 450 g of printing white, 200 g of organic red pigment and 450 g Introduced toluene.
The mixture is crushed in the mill for 10 hours.
The printing ink obtained is characterized by the following characteristics.
It takes about 15 hours for the paint to dry completely with a layer thickness of 7-3 u on a polyethylene film at a temperature of 18-20 C and about 5 minutes at a temperature of 90-95 C.
The adhesion of the paint to the polyethylene is similar to that of the paint in Example 1.
The dried paint is elastic, does not age if it is stored in the air for a long time and if it is exposed to ultraviolet rays. He is against the action of water, alkalis. Resistant to acids and organic solvents.
