Abstract
Hollow objects such as handbags, purses, boxes, etc. are made by processes such as rotational moulding, centrifugal casting, etc. by first coating the interior of a hollow metal mould with a layer of resin and/or decorative particles such as granulated leathers and subsequently adding a coating of a paste of a foam-forming resin prior to gelling the two layers into an integral moulding. For making foam lined articles in a single operation instead of tailoring and sticking segments of a sheet lining material into a tailored or moulded shell. Use of PVC polyethylene based pastes particularly claimed.
Description
Process for the manufacture of bags, billfolds, cases and the like
The invention relates to a method for the production of bags, billfolds, cases and the like.
Bags, wallets, cases and the like are known which are made from leather, synthetic foam leather or foam film and consist of one or more blanks. These containers are brought into a forming connection by the known joining processes of sewing, welding or gluing. Then the inner lining is worked using the same technology and sewn into the body of the bag and finally the bracket is attached.
The production of the bags, billfolds, cases and the like according to the currently existing technology is very time-consuming, since all individual blanks have to be punched and then connected again by the known joining process. The sewing in of the inner lining and the attachment of the bracket each require an additional operation. These successive operations can lead to processing errors and impairment.
The purpose of the invention is to obviate the drawbacks of these many operations for the manufacture of bags, billfolds, cases and the like and to reduce the manufacturing costs of the same.
The invention is based on the object of creating bags, billfolds, cases and the like that do not consist of several blanks, the known joining methods being largely eliminated during the manufacture of the bags.
According to the invention, it is proposed that the bags, billfolds, cases and the like be produced from non-foamable and foamable polyvinyl chloride pastes and optionally with the admixture of leather flour from one piece with the aid of rotational molding or tumble casting or casting molds.
First, a 0.2 to 0.5 mm thick layer of non-foamable polyvinyl chloride paste is gelled at a temperature of 250 to 2800 ° C. in a metal mold that has the exact contours of the pocket on its inside.
This is expediently achieved by pouring the paste into the metal mold, which has been heated to 50 to 700 ° C., in order to remove it after 5 to 10 seconds. dump again immediately. The paste adhering to the edge forms a non-foamable, scratch-resistant surface of the bags, billfolds and cases.
Then, in the same way, a 0.5 to 1.0 mm thick layer of foamable polyvinyl chloride paste is applied and gelled at a temperature of 250 to 2800 C for 3 to 5 minutes and foamed to a thickness of 2 to 5 mm. During this gelling process, an intimate connection of both paste layers is achieved at the same time.
The thickness of the foam layer can be varied by varying the wall thickness of the metal mold. The application of the non-foamable layer serves to achieve a scratch-resistant, homogeneous surface of the bag. At the same time, a leather-like handle and leather-like appearance is achieved. The stability of the bag is achieved by the second foamable layer without a significant increase in weight. In addition, it has an elastic, soft grip.
The possible addition of leather flour takes place in the non-foamable layer.
With this invention, individual blanks are no longer necessary for the production of bags, billfolds, cases and the like, but the bag is produced in one operation. This eliminates all operations for the production of these containers according to the previous technology. The processing errors that have occurred so far can be eliminated.
Ornamental seams, tabs and attachments can be attached without additional work steps.
Furthermore, the durability of the seam cannot be reduced by the effects of the weather or mechanical influences. This gives the bag a longer shelf life.
