Cutting tool unit for lathe
The invention relates to a device which makes it possible to clamp and set up various cutting tools simultaneously with the associated stops on the quill of the tailstock of a lathe.
Up to now, at most a single cutting tool could be clamped into the quill of a lathe.
In order to enable efficient production and working with several cutting tools, one had to rely on the turret lathe.
The invention described is based on the object of providing a lathe with the advantages of a turret lathe.
According to this invention, this was achieved in such a way that the cutting tool unit has a rotatable head with devices for attaching several cutting tools and a rotatable drum with adjustable stops for each individual cutting tool and can be attached to the quill of the lathe either directly or with the aid of a Morse cone, and that there is a fixed stop on the lathe.
In order to bring the next cutting tool into use for another work step, it is possible to turn the head and the stop drum by one notch. This unit can be retrofitted to the quill of a lathe.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. The base body 2 is placed on the quill of the tailstock 9 with the aid of a Morse cone 3. In the case of smaller quill diameters, the base body 2 can be placed directly on the quill.
The cutting tool head 1 is rotatably attached to the base body 2. This is provided with a division into which the spring-loaded stop pin 7 engages. Furthermore, the head 1 has a number of openings 4 corresponding to the pitch for fastening the cutting tools. (In the example described, six.) In order to increase the versatility, one or more of the openings 4 are arranged eccentrically and provided with an eccentric chuck in the form of an insert.
This enables the turning tools to be set up as required. The rotatable stop drum 5 is attached to the base body 2. Your individually adjustable stops 6 meet the fixed stop 8, which is embedded in the body of the tailstock.
The device described enables the production of larger series on ordinary lathes by giving them the properties of a turret lathe and multiplying their productivity.
