Abstract

Air is bubbled from perforated pipes submerged in deep tank permitting long residue time for water under treatment. Large openings in the same pipes at a lower level than diffusion apertures enable pipes to be flushed through to prevent blockage by sludge. These openings are pref. 10-20 cm below diffusion openings and so located that the air from them mixes with the bubbles diffused above.
