Washing machine The invention relates to a washing machine with a washing container for receiving textiles and a washing liquid which has a substantially vertical side wall.
There is a constant search for improved agitators for washing machines for textiles. The agitator must cause the textiles to move in the liquid without the textiles tangling or being rolled up with one another. Up to now, an oscillating washing movement has been used for this purpose, in order to achieve movement of the fabrics without the difficulties of entanglement. However, certain known washing machines use an agitator which is continuously rotatable in one direction and which is attached to a side wall. These have difficulties with entanglement, curling and depressing of the textiles at the bottom of the container.
The need for a compact, inexpensive washing machine has led to more intensive development in the direction of a washing machine with continuously rotating agitators attached to a side wall, which can be produced in an economical manner, has a good effect and does not have the aforementioned difficulties in operation.
The invention aims to provide such a washing machine by means of which the properties mentioned can be obtained.
The washing machine according to the invention, through which this goal is achieved, is characterized by at least two stirring parts, which are arranged next to each other on the wall and intended to work in the container, the axes of rotation of the stirring parts are arranged parallel to each other and a drive member is provided which for Actuation of the stirring parts is used.
Further details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferred Ausfüh tion with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the individual figures of the drawing, the same parts are denoted by the same reference numerals. 1 shows a simplified three-dimensional representation of a washing machine according to the invention with a washing part and a centrifuging part, FIG. 2 a front view of the machine from FIG. 1 with partial section, so that the two stirring parts are visible according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, FIG 3 a section of a stirring part, its mounting and its drive pulley,
corresponding to the line 3-3 from Fig. 2, Fig. 4 is a partial section of the stirring part along the line 4-4 in Fig. 2, Fig. 5 is a view of the washing machine from Fig. 1 from behind with the representation of the Drive of the two stirring parts, FIG. 6 shows an electrical circuit diagram of the control of the washing machine from FIG. 1, and FIG. 7 shows a time diagram of the switching times of the Zeitkon contacts from FIG. 6.
1 shows a washing machine 10 which contains a washing part 11 and a centrifuging part 12 which are accommodated in a basin 14 and in a housing 15. The housing 15 includes, as best shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 5, a circumferentially extending side wall 16, a lower front wall part 19, a rear wall part 20, a base 21 and an upper end part 23. The washing part 11 and the centrifuging part 12 are individually accessible through a pair of covers 24 and 25 which are arranged on the upper closure part 23.
The inven tion is concerned with the washing part 11 of the machine 10 and the agitation element, which contains a pair of agitation parts 26, which are located within a washing container 29 formed by the basin 14.
It can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2 that the basin 14 forms a substantially rectangular washing container 29 with substantially vertical sides, the sides forming right-angled corners 30 with one another. The washing container 29 contains a bottom 31 with a line 33 which is connected to a pump, not shown, and is used to remove washing liquid from the container 29 after the completion of the Waschvor transition. The pair of stirring members 26 is located in the washing container 29 on a rear side wall 34 of the basin 14 side by side, the axes of rotation of the stirring members being substantially parallel to one another. In the preferred embodiment provided, the stirring parts 26 are located next to one another in the horizontal direction.
Both stirring parts 26 are essentially the same ausgebil det, so that the description of the design and arrangement of one of the stirring parts is sufficient. In Fig. 2 is a section of the stirring member 26 along the line 3-3 provides Darge.
The stirring member 26 is molded in one piece and includes a plurality of blades 40, the shape of which is best seen in FIGS. Each agitating part includes four paddles in the preferred embodiment. The area 41 between adjacent blades 40 is essentially aligned with the rear wall of the container 29.
The stirring part 26 and its pulley 43 are supported together in the rear wall 34. The rear wall 34 is thin and includes a pair of openings 44 surrounded by an annular recess 45. In a preferred embodiment, the basin 14 and thus also the rear wall 34 are formed from one piece of plastic. The thin-walled design is reinforced by a rigid plate 49 which is fastened by screws 50 to pins 51 which extend rearwardly from the rear wall 34. The rigid plate 49 includes a pair of hubs 53 and a plurality of wall parts 54 which connect the hubs 53 to sockets 55 for the pins 51.
Each hub 53 includes a plurality of radially inwardly extending ribs 57 which serve to support a pair of bearings 56 and form pockets 9 for a lubricant. A felt disk 58 is arranged on a shaft 60 at the inner end of the hub. The shaft 50 is rotatably supported in the pair of bearings 56 and includes end portions which extend outwardly from the bearings. At the rear end 61, the pulley 43 is attached to the shaft 60 by a pin 63.
At the front end 64 of the shaft 60 in the washing tub 29, the stirring part 26 is attached, e.g. by a press fit of a hub 65 which is formed in the stirring part 26.
Between the hub 65 of the stirring part and an annular flange 70 which surrounds the opening 44 in the rear wall 34, a seal 69 is arranged, which is used to close the opening 44 and prevent liquid from escaping from the washing container 29. The seal 69 contains an elastic part 71 with a sealing lip 72, which interacts dynamically with the hub 65 of the agitator part and seals under the influence of a spring element 73. A slinger 75 is located on the shaft 60 next to the spring element 73, with a small drainage opening (not shown) in the rear wall 34 below the openings 44, which is used to drain the liquid that has passed through the seal 69.
In Fig. 5, the rear wall 34, the rigid plate 49 and the pulley 43 are shown in view. A drive motor 79 is attached to the base 21 of the washing machine by means of a bracket 80 and serves to jointly drive the pair of pulleys 43 by an endless belt 81 with a round cross-section and elastic properties. The motor 79 drives the stirring parts 26 at a speed of approximately 400 revolutions per minute. The motor 79 can be switched over to drive in both directions and can drive the stirring parts 26 first in one direction and then in the other direction, under the influence of a control circuit which contains a timing element and is shown in FIG.
6 shows a circuit diagram of the electrical circuit of the washing machine. The circuit contains connection lines 83 and 84 for connection to a power supply system with 110 volts. A motor 85, which is not shown in the other figures and is used to drive the centrifuge of the machine, is connected between the lines 83 and 84. In addition, the motor 79, which is used to drive the pulleys 43, is connected to the lines 83 and 84. The circuit also contains a time motor 89 which is used to actuate time contacts 90 to 93 according to the scheme in FIG. 7, in which the dark areas mean periods in which the corre sponding contact pair is closed.
The control circuit of the motor 79 contains a centrifugal switch 94 and the contacts 90 to 93 of the time motor. The contact pair 90 is an on-off switch for the motor and is moved by a movement of the timer from the position 95 Aus of the cam profile by hand as shown in FIG. 7, where the washing cycle is started. The contact pair 91, however, is periodically opened during the washing cycle accordingly as shown in FIG. 7, whereby the motor 79 is brought to a standstill so that its rotational movement can be reversed.
The contact pairs 92 and 93 are each alternately closed after half a minute, whereby one of a pair of starting windings 96 and 97 is excited, whereby the motor is set in motion in the desired direction of rotation. Both start windings 96 and 97 are switched off by actuating a centrifugal switch 94 at a certain speed of the motor 79. The motor continues to rotate in the selected direction by energizing its working winding 98.
At the beginning of the washing cycle, the pair of contacts 90 is closed and energizes the time motor 89, which is used to drive the timer and causes a sequence of actuations of the contacts 91 to 93. As a result, the motor 79 is alternately moved in opposite directions. A preferred sequence of actuation of the timing contacts 91 to 93 causes the motor to rotate in a first direction for approximately 25 seconds, followed by a pause of 5 seconds for the direction of rotation to be reversed. The motor 79 is then moved in the opposite direction for another 25 seconds.
The frequency of the reversal of the direction of rotation must be chosen so that the reversal occurs earlier before some textiles reach a position in which they are entangled and twisted with others in the washing container. The time after which each twist and tangle begins depends on a number of factors, such as the size of the container, the size of the stirring part, its arrangement in the container and its speed. Rotation in each direction for 25 seconds, followed by a 5 second pause, has been found to be effective in the preferred embodiment of the invention to prevent entanglement, curling and squeezing while achieving good washing performance becomes.
In FIGS. 2 and 3, a deflection part 100 for the liquid is shown, which is arranged on the rear wall 34 of the washing container above the two stirring parts 26 and extends essentially horizontally between adjoining side walls 101 and 102. The deflector 100 is attached to the rear wall 34 by a plurality of screws 103. A seal 104 is located at each end of the deflector.
The deflecting part 100 is arranged approximately at the recommended height of the liquid level during washing and includes a downwardly directed concave surface 105 for collecting the liquid from the stirring parts 26 and for deflecting it down into the rest of the liquid. A continuous Drehbe movement of the stirring parts 26 in one or the other direction creates a substantially continuous flow of liquid from the stirring parts during a certain period of time, which has a component that extends from the outer edge of the blades 40 of the stirring parts to the deflector 100 and thereafter is directed down into the container, whereby it supports a movement of the textiles in the washing container.
When the level of the washing liquid is below the deflector 100, the deflector catches liquid sprayed by the stirring members 26 and directs it back into the container. The deflector therefore allows the washing machine to be operated with the lid 24 open.
The invention provides an improved washing machine is created in which a pair of arranged on the wall stirring members 26 in a novel combi nation can be actuated. The compact design of the washing machine is supported by the stirring parts, which take up relatively little space in the container 29. In addition, the two arranged on the wall th continuously rotatable stirring parts in both directions allow a relatively simple design of the drive, so that together with the reversible drive for the stirring parts, the usual problems caused by entanglement and curling continuously share in one direction rotatable agitator are avoided.
By arranging the deflecting part 100 over the stirring parts, the washing effect is supported even further, and it is possible to operate the washing machine when the lid is open.
