Condenseur
La fig. 1 est une coupe verticale de la première forme d'exécution;
Condenser
The present invention relates to a condenser comprising a condensation enclosure, and a device for vaporizing in the enclosure a liquid for refrigerating the products to be condensed.
Various devices of this type are already known in which the condensate solution obtained and the non-condensable gaseous products stationed therein are taken separately using suitable pumping installations, relatively expensive, delicate and above all cumbersome.
The condenser proposed by the invention is designed so as to be able to do without such installations.
To this end, the capacitor according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the enclosure is pivoting, and by the fact that it comprises at least one vacuum pump intended to evacuate the non-condensable gases from the enclosure and at least an evacuation channel for the condensed solution arranged along the edges of an evacuation opening of the wall of the enclosure, outside the latter, and having a profile such that its flow axis forms substantially a U, one branch of which begins at the end of the channel adjacent to the discharge opening and the other ends at the second outlet end of this channel, while the bottom of said U is disposed on the opposite side to the axis of rotation of the enclosure relative to the ends of the channel.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example and very schematically, two embodiments of the condenser object of the invention:
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the first embodiment;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on a larger scale of a construction detail appearing in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the second embodiment and
fig. 4 a view on a larger scale of a construction detail of FIG. 3.
The capacitor shown in fig. 1 is attached to the rotating environment of a centrifugal evaporator 1, partially shown: it is therefore driven in rotation by this evaporator.
It comprises a condensation enclosure 2, with a frustoconical side wall 2a and the bottom 3 of which opens at 4 to form a passage for the vaporized products to be condensed coming up from the evaporator through a first segment of duct 1a, integral of this evaporator, and a second segment of pipe 4a, 'projecting from the bottom 3 of the condenser.
The frustoconical side wall, 2a, is connected to the bottom 3 by an annular flange 5, having the shape of a
U slightly open and with unequal branches, and by twelve radial ribs 6 of which only seven of them are visible.
The space between the flange 5 and the bottom 3 of the condenser forms an annular channel 7, the role of which will be explained below.
All around the flange 5 is arranged a spiral tarpaulin 8, fixed angularly, intended for the recovery of the condensed solution produced by the device and leaving the channel 7, which a duct 9 allows to evacuate and bring into a tank collector not shown.
In the upper wall 2b of the condensation enclosure is formed a circular passage for a tube 10 extending vertically in the enclosure over its greatest length as well as above it in a rotary joint 11 arranged in the opening of a conduit 12 connected to a source, not shown, of coolant liquid.
The lower end of the tube 10 is closed and its side wall is pierced by a series of micro-openings 13 intended to ensure the distribution of the refrigerant liquid in vaporized form.
The condenser is furthermore equipped so as to be able to also evacuate the non-condensable gases from the enclosure 2: in fact it has a vacuum pump 14, supplied with liquid by a duct 15 connected to the tube 10 and to which is also fixed a suction cannula 16 extending vertically as far as the upper zone of the enclosure 2, in which the gases generally come together.
The horn is disposed radially in the space of the apparatus delimited by the flange 5 and the bottom 3 and in particular in the upper branch of the channel 6; the right end in the drawing, output, of the horn protrudes out of the flange 5 through a suitable opening made in this flange, inside the cover 8.
The trunk 14 is of conventional construction as shown in FIG. 2: it consists of a cylindrical body 17, hollowed out so as to form a housing 18 intended to receive a nozzle 19 and, coaxially with the latter, a nozzle 20 for the evacuation of the gases sucked by the cannula 16 and of the liquid ejected by the nozzle 19.
The operation of the condenser device described is as follows:
When the evaporator 1 is operating, it rotates around its vertical axis, causing the condenser to rotate, and produces a certain quantity of evaporated product to be condensed by the device.
This product rises through the duct segments 1a and 4a in the enclosure 2 and in particular in the space between the side wall 2a of this enclosure and the tube 10, a space in which this tube vaporizes, as described, a refrigerant liquid. the nature of which will be chosen from case to case depending on the type of products to be condensed.
Thus, if these products consist of solvents with well-defined characteristics, such as benzene or acetone for example, the refrigerant liquid will preferably consist of benzene or acetone.
The condensation of vaporized products rising
of the evaporator 1 is therefore effected by meeting and intimate contact of the particles of refrigerant liquid with molecules of product, in the space between the duct 10 and the casing 2a. On the internal face of this casing therefore flows a liquid solution consisting of the refrigerant liquid added to
vaporized product condensate. This solution is sou
putting into action the centrifugal force which forces it to
ash along the casing 2a, taking into account the flared shape of the latter, in the direction of the previously mentioned channel 7.
When the solution arrives at the edge of this channel, it enters it, always under the action of centrifugal force.
of which it is the object, and will gradually fill the angled bottom 7 'of the channel 7 to then go up on either side of the bottom 3 of the enclosure 2.
Taking into account the presence of the tube 14 and the drop in pressure caused by any condensation
in an enclosure, the pressure in enclosure 2 is very
lower than atmospheric pressure, for example
prevailing in the spiral tarpaulin 8.
Accordingly, the radial length of liquid which
will accumulate on either side of bottom 3 of the enclosure
2, in channel 7, will be different above and
below this bottom: this length will indeed be very
higher above since the low static pressure
prevailing in enclosure 2 must be compensated by
a liquid column, subjected to centrifugal force,
relatively large.
Once channel 7 has been filled with the liquid solution,
and if there is no new solution, this channel
remains filled and the solution it contains forms an annular sealing pad preventing any air from entering the chamber.
If, on the contrary, there is a continuous supply of solution in the upper branch of channel 7, this additional liquid mass, subjected to centrifugal force, will develop on this branch a radial thrust setting in motion the liquid plug for sealing the channel, in the direction of its exit towards the tarpaulin 8: the solution flows into the tarpaulin. Of course, this movement will cease as soon as the supply of liquid solution to the upper branch of the channel 7 ceases.
It is obvious that such a supply will be interrupted only if the supply of refrigeration liquid to the duct 10 is cut off.
The same will also apply to the operation of the horn 14, the nozzle 19 of which is directly connected to this duct 10.
The second embodiment of the condenser is mounted on an angularly fixed evaporator 21.
It comprises a condensation enclosure 22 formed by a bell 23, frustoconical and rotating, and by a bottom 24, fixed angularly, in the center of which opens a passage 24 'for the vaporized products to be condensed going up from the evaporator through a first segment of pipe 21a, integral with this evaporator, and of a second segment of pipe 24a protruding from the bottom 24 of the condenser, around the opening 24 '.
The frustoconical side wall of the bell 23 has along its lower edge an annular flange 25, having the shape of a U, slightly open and with unequal branches, circularly enveloping and in part the fixed base 24.
Twelve fins 26 divide the space 27 between the flange 25 and the bottom 24 into as many radial channels 27 ', the role of which will be explained below.
All around the flange 5 is arranged a spiral tarpaulin 28, fixed angularly, intended for the recovery of the condensed solution produced by the device and leaving the channels 27 ', which a duct 29 allows to evacuate and bring into a collecting tank, not shown in the drawing.
The bell 23 is secured at its upper part to a shaft 10, pivotally mounted in two bearings 31 and 32, the upper end of which carries a pulley 32 in the groove of which is disposed a drive belt 34, also stretched over a second pulley 25 presented by the shaft of an electric motor 36 on which depends the control in rotation of the bell 23.
The duct segment 24a passes, through a lateral opening, to a duct 37 connected by its right end to a source of refrigeration liquid, not shown, which duct rises vertically in the segment 24a, then in the bell 23, coaxially, up to 'near its summit. This duct is pierced with a series of distribution openings 38 in its part extending above the level of the channels 27 '.
The duct 17 and the openings with which it is provided
have a function in all points similar to that of the
conduit 10 and openings 13 in the form of an execution
tion of fig. 1: they are indeed intended to ensure the
vaporization of the refrigeration liquid in the bell
23.
The same applies to the cover 25 and the bottom 24 of
enclosure 22, although this bottom is still angular
specifically in the present embodiment, which is reflected simply by a slight passage of liquid solution from channel 27 'to channel 27', through the space between each fin 26 and the bottom 24.
The condenser of fig. 3 is also equipped with a vacuum pump 39, but its arrangement is very different from that illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
This difference is essentially due to the fact that, in this second embodiment, the duct 38 is fixed angularly and the enclosure 22 is rotating.
Referring to fig. 4, it can be seen that the duct 38 has at its upper end a segment of tube 38a, of relatively small diameter, which is introduced by the greater part of its length into a distribution chamber 40 integral with the bell 22 and on the face side from which protrudes a nozzle 41.
The seal between the tube segment 38a and the opening of the chamber 40 in which it is engaged is achieved by a labyrinth device 42.
The nozzle 41 ejects the liquid received from the conduit 38, through the tube segment 38a and the chamber 40 to which it is attached, into the opening of an ejection nozzle 43 attached to the side wall of the bell 22 and crossing this wall. As shown, the side wall of the nozzle 43 is pierced with a passage 44 intended for the suction of non-condensable gaseous products contained in the bell 22 and which preferably accumulate in the upper part of the latter. These products are ejected into the space between a mantle 45, shown in phantom in FIG. 3, and the condensation enclosure 22, this jacket preferably being waterproof and in communication with the spiral cover 28.
Although in the two embodiments illustrated the bell 23 is frustoconical, it is obvious that this bell could also be cylindrical or even of polygonal section.
In addition, it is obvious that the condensers described could also function well by rotating around an axis occupying a position different from the vertical, gravity playing practically no role on the liquids present in relation to that, predominant, of the centrifugal force.
Finally, the liquid guide fins inside the flanges could extend according to a non-radial profile, particularly chosen to facilitate the flow of the liquid solution, for example in a spiral, so as to keep the liquid buffer very homogeneous. seal that the solution must form permanently in the U-shaped channel delimited by the flange and the bottom of the evaporator.
