Robinet
Tap
The present invention relates to a valve in which the control is effected by means of a screw, one end of which protrudes outside the cap of the valve, the rotary drive of the screw being effected by a cross brace. maneuver.
This screw actuated by the spider drives a valve cooperating with a seat formed on the body of the valve to ensure its closure.
In some taps, the head has a cap which screws onto the body of the tap, this bored cap serving as a guide, on the one hand for the control screw, and on the other hand for a valve holder driven by the screw. Appropriate means are provided to oppose the translational movements of the screw relative to the cap, so that the rotation of the screw has the effect of moving the valve holder relative to the seat.
French patent No. 1342804 describes such means constituted by a collar abutting against a shoulder of the cap to oppose the movement of the screw upwards and by a ring locking the screw by resting on the upper surface of the cap and thus opposing the downward movement.
On the other hand, the control spider which allows the screw to be driven in rotation is, in a known manner, made integral with the head, either by means of a captive nut screwed onto the head, or by means of 'a central screw passing through the crosspiece and screwing into a threaded hole in the head. Rotation of the spider relative to the head is generally prevented by a male and female spline assembly.
This known assembly of tap heads and of their cross has certain drawbacks. Mounting by captive nut always leaves a certain play; mounting by central screw requires complicated machining of the spider and does not allow the spider to be given all the aspects or shapes desired.
The main object of the present invention is to provide a new valve, the individual parts of which can be assembled in a manner which makes it possible in particular to achieve, using a single part, both the locking of the control screw after its assembly on the head and the fixing of the control spider on this head.
The valve according to the invention is characterized in that the end of the screw has a peripheral groove, in that the spider has a recess and in that the association of the spider and the screw and the retaining of the screw for prevent it from moving in translation relative to the cap are ensured by means of a single connecting piece comprising a flat part having a cutout and extending on its periphery by a plurality of elastic arms bent at an angle close to 900, the edge of said cutout cooperating with said groove, said flat portion resting against the cap and the aforementioned arms resting elastically against the wall of said recess of the spider and retaining it by the effect of friction.
It thus appears that the connecting piece has a structure allowing it to combine two distinct functions, namely the fixing of the control screw relative to the head by its flat part playing the role of circlips and opposing the translational movement. of the screw, and the attachment of the spider on the head thanks to the elasticity of the peripheral arms.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the connecting piece is made of stainless steel by conventional cutting and folding techniques. The flat part is preferably circular and the arms are in the form of small tongues, the free end of which is curved into a butt.
The assembly of a valve head has the advantage of great simplicity and makes it possible to eliminate practically any play between the spider and the head. Furthermore, the production of the cross is simplified and it can easily be given any desired shape.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the valve according to the invention, by way of example.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic longitudinal section thereof.
Fig. 2 is an axial sectional view of the mounting part.
Fig. 3 is a top view of this part.
Fig. 1 shows a valve comprising a valve body 1, a head, the cap 2 of which is screwed onto the body 1, a control screw 3, the upper end of which protrudes from the cap 2 and an operating spider 4.
The other parts making up the valve head and which are contained in the bonnet 2 (valve holder driven by the screw 3, valve, seals, etc.) have not been shown, their representation not being necessary. for understanding the invention.
Near the upper end of the cap 2, the screw 3 has a peripheral groove 3a. The upper end of the screw 3 has a grooved part 3b.
The valve operating spider 4 consists of an internal part 4a included in a blaoc of form 4b. The inner part 4a comprises a fluted central part cooperating with the fluted part 3b of the screw 3. Around this central part is a circular recess 4c. Advantageously, the inner part 4a of the control spider is made of chromed brass and the shaped block 4b of synthetic resin.
The fixing of the screw 3 with respect to the cap 2 and that of the spider 4 on the head of the valve are ensured by a connecting piece which is also shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
The part 5 consists of a flat part or a flat circular disc 5a pierced with a cutout Sb. On the periphery of this disc 5a there is a plurality of resilient tongues or arms Se, formed integrally with the disc 5a and bent at approximately 900 relative to the plane of the disc 5a. The free end of the arms 5c is slightly folded inwards.
The cutout 5b has a path formed by two circular sectors connecting. One of these sectors has a diameter slightly greater than that of the grooved part 3b of the upper end of the screw 3; the other sector has a diameter corresponding to that of the bottom of the peripheral groove 3a of the screw 3. Furthermore, the thickness of the disc 5a is calculated to allow it to come to be wedged in the groove 3a in the manner of a circlips.
The arms 5c have a length which allows them to be housed in the circular recess 4c of the spider 4. The diameter of the disc 5a is substantially the same as the outside diameter of the recess 4c. In this way, when the spider 4 is mounted on the head of the valve, the outer edge of the arms 5c ensures the fixing of this spider by friction against the wall of the recess 4c. The elasticity of the arms 5c practically eliminates any play between the spider 4 and the head of the valve.
