Fig. 1 ein Anschlusselement im Querschnitt;
Fig. 2 zwei mit Anschlusselementen der Fig. 1 versehene und mittels eines Schiebestreifens verbundene Lüftungskanalwände, im Querschnitt;
Connection element on a ventilation duct
The invention relates to a connection element on a ventilation duct delimited by flat walls for the end connection of this ventilation duct to another duct by means of sliding strips.
It is known to connect two ventilation duct sections, both of which are bounded by flat sheet metal walls and have a rectangular cross-section, firmly and at least approximately airtightly with one another in that the front edges of the duct walls are bent outwards by 1800 and in the columns of these opposite one another Falzborde of the duct sections to be connected a sliding strip in the longitudinal direction of this strip, also bent by 1800 on its two longitudinal edges, d. H. is inserted in the transverse direction of the channel sections. This requires that the sheet metal piece provided for producing the channel section is provided with cutouts on one edge or on opposite edges and that the tabs formed thereby are folded before the sheet metal piece is formed into the channel section.
It is therefore essential to know the exact required length of the duct section in advance, since it is laborious, inconvenient and unsatisfactory to subsequently manually, e.g. 13. Use flat-nosed pliers to attach the rebate edges required to introduce the sliding strip to the edges of the sewer.
The purpose of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantages mentioned. According to the invention, the connection element is designed as a strip which is folded several times in its longitudinal direction and which, with the longitudinal gap formed by the outer rabbet, can be pushed in its transverse direction onto a wall end of the ventilation duct and, in the pushed-on position, can be locked into projections attached to the duct wall by means of a bent edge and in which the longitudinal gap formed by the other outer folding band serves to introduce the sliding strip in its longitudinal direction.
The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing, for example. Show it:
1 shows a connection element in cross section;
FIG. 2 shows two ventilation duct walls provided with connection elements from FIG. 1 and connected by means of a sliding strip, in cross section; FIG.
3 shows a channel wall provided with notches in plan view and in section through a notch.
The connection element 1 shown in section in Fig. 1 is designed as a triple and zigzag folded sheet metal strip in its longitudinal direction, the individual folded strip parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 having approximately the same width. The gap between the strip parts 2 and 3 serves to accommodate a sliding strip, as will be explained below, while the gap between the strip parts 4 and 5 is intended to accommodate the edge of a ventilation duct wall. The longitudinal edge of the outer strip part 5 is bent inwards as a folding border 6 6, the width of the folding border 6 being significantly smaller than the width of the strip parts 2, 3, 4, 5. The length of the folded strip shown is the same as the width the channel walls to which the strip is to be applied.
In Fig. 2, two channel walls 7 are shown which belong to two ventilation channel sections to be connected to one another at the end in airtight manner. A connection element 1 is pushed onto the unfolded end of each duct wall 7. The connection element 1 is held in the pushed-on position in that the channel wall 7 is provided in its edge zone with a row of inwardly pointing projections 8. When the connecting element 1 is pushed on, its strip parts 4 and 5 are resiliently spread apart by the sheet metal of the duct wall 7. As soon as the folding band 6 of the strip part 5 has passed over the projections 8, it engages behind the projections so that the connection element 1 can no longer be pulled away in the opposite direction in front of the duct wall 7.
The two channel sections, in which all wall ends have each been provided with a connection element 1, are now brought together at the end, as shown in FIG. 2 for a channel wall. Then, in a manner known per se, a sliding strip, which has a rebate 10 on both sides, is inserted between the strip parts 2 and 3 in its longitudinal direction and anchored at both ends by bending flap-like extensions (not visible in FIG. 2). The two ventilation duct sections are then mechanically fixed and, as can be seen from FIG. 2, at least approximately airtightly connected to one another.
In Fig. 3 a simple embodiment of the projections 8 of the channel wall 7 is shown. These projections are in the form of triangular notches, the projecting bases of which are arranged near the edge of the channel wall along a straight line.
Such notches can easily be made individually with a press in one operation or with the aid of a hand tool that has a stop. The mutual spacing of the notches 8 is not important here.
The use of the connecting elements described makes it possible to manufacture the duct sections with smooth wall edges without rebate borders, which significantly shortens the production time. Like the sliding strips, the connection elements 1 can be produced in great lengths and cut off as required. Above all, it is possible to shorten prefabricated duct sections to the required length at the installation site by simply cutting them off. The only reworking of the edges of the shortened channel walls is to press the notches 8 (FIG. 3) into the channel walls using a hand tool, but this does not require measuring, scribing or other time-consuming and exact work. The connection elements 1 can also be cut to size without expenditure of time.
The remainder of the work of connecting two duct sections is then limited to sliding on the connection elements 1 and pushing in and bending over the sliding strips 9. The ventilation duct connection achieved is in any case professional, clean and precise.
