Organopolysiloxane-containing flowable, curable mixtures and their use
The present invention relates to novel organopolysiloxane-containing mixtures which are flowable and curable. These blends are liquids that can be heat cured to form a clear rubber and resin-like material.
For this reason, they can be used as an investment material.
These mixtures can be used for embedding electrically conductive parts and generally for sealing. They have the advantage of being considerably cheaper than the already known silicone embedding compounds, with a low silicone content and yet having many of the desirable properties of the known silicone embedding agents.
The invention relates to a flowable, curable mixture containing organopolysiloxane, which is characterized in that it contains as mixture components a) a flowable polysiloxane which contains 10 molar proportions of (1) RHSiO groups and 0-300 molar proportions of (2) R2SiO- Contains groups, where on average at least 1u groups (1) are present per Polysiloxanmc lekül and where R is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical free of aliphatically unsaturated compounds, and b) 7-10.9 molar parts of a liquid α-Oiefins, furthermore c) 0, 02-1 molar parts of a liquid a, co-diolefin and d) contains a catalytic amount of finely divided platinum or platinum compounds,
the total molar amount of terminal olefin groups contained in components b + c c, up to 10 mol / o of the molar proportion of RHSiO groups contained in polysiloxane component 1 corresponds.
The invention also relates to the use of the flowable mixture according to the invention as an embedding compound. In the presence of parts to be embedded, the mixture can be transformed into a solid material that is insoluble in organic solvents by heating it to a temperature of 90-170 ° C.
In the polysiloxane component which has the groups of the above formulas, R can represent any monovalent hydrocarbon radical which is free from aliphatically unsaturated groups, such as e.g. B. the methyl, ethyl, isobutyl, hexyl, dodecyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, diphenyl, benzyl, 2-phenylpropyl or tolyire radical.
R preferably represents a methyl group.
The polysiloxane component (a) can be a commercially available silicone such. B.

be. The cyclic compound [CHsSiHO] 4 is also known and can be used to prepare component (a). Analogous compounds and similar materials in which R is other than a methyl group can be prepared by methods known in silicone chemistry. Copolymers having RHSiO groups and R2SiO groups can be prepared by equilibrating homopolymers of the two groups with one another with an acidic catalyst by any of several known methods.
In the mixtures according to the invention, other groups can also be present in small amounts in the siloxane polymers used as constituent (a). These groups include: B.
chain-branching groups, for example RSiOs12 and end-blocking groups of the formula RSSiOr2 such. B.
EMI2.1
and (CHs) sSlOtz2
Other materials, such as plasticizers, dyes, olefins with internal double bonds, excess α-olefins, fillers and silicones without SiH bonds can also be present in such amounts that they do not impair the effectiveness of the mixture according to the invention.
The term terminal olefin group is understood to mean any radical consisting of two carbon atoms with a double bond in which two hydrogen atoms are bonded to the terminal carbon atom. In general this is a vinyl radical, but the group can also be
EMI2.2
<tb> CH2 = <SEP> IC group
<tb> <SEP> CH2
<tb> be, as in a-methylstyrene, or another substituted vinyl radical.
Any desired α-olefin, as described above, can be used in the mixture according to the invention. Examples include: 1-hexene, 1-decene, 2-ethylene hexene-1, styrene, 1-octadecene and α-methylstyrene. Any α, -diolefin, as described above, can also be used. Examples are: octadiene-1,7, 2-ethylhexadiene-1,5, decadiene-1,9, octadecadiene-1,17 and divinylbenzene.
Mixtures of α-diolefins and diolefins can also be used as long as the mixture is a liquid and the mixture contains the appropriate molar proportions of α-olefins and α-diolefin.
Any finely divided catalytic form of platinum or of platinum compounds can be used in the mixture according to the invention, but chloroplatinic acid is preferred. The platinum acts as a hardening catalyst in the mixtures. Other suitable platinum-containing materials are, for example: platinum powder, platinum on charcoal or alumina, and platinum complexes with olefins.
Very small amounts of platinum are usually used because the platinum cannot be recovered because it is trapped in the cured investment material. However, there is no upper limit to the amount of platinum that can be present. The lower limit of the platinum content is also not critical, but usually the curing becomes too slow for practice if less than 0.001% by weight of platinum, based on the weight of the reaction mixture, is present.
It is assumed that the curing of the composition according to the invention takes place through a reaction of the -SiH bonds with the unsaturated end groups of the olefin constituents. The editorial scheme can be as shown below.
EMI2.3
Before hardening, the monoolefins serve as plasticizers or solvents and after hardening they form part of the mass of the hardened composition, thereby reducing the silicone content and therefore the cost of the composition.
The e, cs diolefins serve as crosslinking agents because either end of the molecule can react with a SiH group.
The physical properties of the cured mixtures according to the invention after their curing depend on the percentage of silicon atoms which have reacted with the diolefin. When this percentage is high, resinous materials will form. A lower percentage yields rubbery materials while an even lower percentage of silicon atoms that have reacted with diolefin yields gel-like materials. This percentage can be set by changing the ratio of RHSiO groups present to R2SiO groups.
The mixtures according to the invention can be liquids with a low viscosity and extremely good penetration capacity. They are used to fill air spaces in small and complex systems where materials with a higher viscosity can no longer reach.
The cured materials can be essentially solvent-free if equimolar amounts of rSiH and groups unsaturated in the terminal position are used. Therefore, the problem of blistering of the embedding compound during the hardening process, which is due to the presence of volatile solvents, can be overcome by using the mixtures according to the invention.
The mixtures according to the invention are preferably cured by heating to a temperature of 90-170 ° C. for one or more hours. The temperature is not critical, however, since the curing reaction takes place even at room temperature, the composition then curing in about five days.
The upper limit of the curing temperature is given by the thermal stability of the mixture and its components.
Without a filler, the cured mixtures are generally transparent, rubbery or resinous materials that are insoluble in organic solvents or water. They provide excellent protection for electrically conductive parts, and the costs are lower than for previously known silicone embedding compounds.
