Can with guarantee closure with a lid that closes the can opening elastically
The invention relates to a can with a guarantee lock with a lid that elastically closes the can opening.
Particularly for the packaging of food, luxury foods, cosmetics and chemical products, it is required that the packaging containers have a closure that prevents an undetectable initial opening. Such a closure guarantees that when the container is opened for the first time, the contents will still contain the original quantity and quality.
Such guarantee closures are already known in several embodiments and were predominantly used for containers with a goods removal opening that is relatively small in diameter, such as e.g. for bottle openings, suggested. When closing containers with larger openings, e.g. of cans, the design of guarantee closures presents particular difficulties due to the larger dimensions available here.
A guarantee closure for cans is already known, which consists of a lid and a membrane that is independent of this and worked into the opening edge of the can. When opening for the first time, this membrane, e.g. made of aluminum foil, cut through after removing the reusable lid. This type of closure has the disadvantage that an additional closure part is required, the production and airtight connection of which with the can rim requires expensive means. In addition, the clean opening of the membrane requires particular skill and is only possible with the help of a cutting instrument.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a tamper-evident closure for cans, e.g. is easy to manufacture by injection molding, which does not require an additional instrument to open, which releases a smooth goods removal opening after opening and which can be used again after opening for the first time. This object is achieved according to the invention by a can with a guarantee lock, which is characterized by a ring that is adjacent to the lid and firmly connected to the can wall, with a predetermined separation point running at least along a larger part of the lid circumference between this ring and the lid first pulling away the cover is destroyed.
The figures show examples of the design of the can according to the invention with a guarantee lock. Show it:
1 and 2 the overall view of a guarantee lock in axial section and in plan view,
3 shows an enlarged partial section of the closure according to FIG. 1,
4 shows an enlarged partial section through the closure edge with a predetermined separation point formed by two weakening grooves,
5 shows a further embodiment of the closure edge with a predetermined separation point formed by a weakening groove,
6 and 7 enlarged partial sections of the outer edge of a closure which was made from two parts, in a schematic representation,
Fig. 8 shows a further example of the design and arrangement of a predetermined separation point on the closure edge, and
Fig.
9 shows an example of a guarantee closure with a ring arranged on the inside and a predetermined separation point in an enlarged partial section.
In Fig. 1, the guarantee closure 1 is placed on the opening of a can wall 2, shown only with its upper part, and its outer annular edge 3 surrounds the opening edge 4 of the can. In the form shown in this figure, the can is tightly closed by the lid 5, which rests elastically on the inner edge of the can, and the closure can only be opened after the lid 5 has been separated from the edge 3 that is firmly connected to the opening edge of the can. For this purpose, the cover 5 in this example has an inwardly directed grip edge 6 which can easily be grasped by grasping it with the fingertips. This grip edge runs along the entire inner circumference of the closure cover, which is circular in the present example.
An example of the design of the closure edge 3 is shown in the partial section, shown enlarged in FIG. 3, through the guarantee closure according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
As can be seen from this figure, the edge 3 has a part 7 running radially outward from the center of the cover and a ring 8 running parallel to the closure axis. In this way, there is a cross-section between the cover 5 and the axially running part of the outer closure edge 3 There is a U-shaped slot 9 which is provided for receiving the opening edge 4 of the can 2.
When the can is closed for the first time, the guarantee closure is pushed onto the smooth opening edge of the can, for example by machine, and the ring 8 is e.g. firmly connected to the outer wall of the can 2 by welding or gluing. If the can is now to be opened, this can only be done by separating the lid 5 from the outer edge of the closure which is firmly connected to the can. In order to make this possible, a predetermined separation point 10 is provided between the ring 8 of the closure edge 3, which is firmly connected to the can, and the cover 5, which in the example according to FIG. 3 is formed by a weakening groove 11 in the radial edge part 7. This weakening groove has a tapering cross-section, so that the notch effect produced when pulling the grip edge 6 at the predetermined separation point 10 enables the lid 5 to be easily detached from the locking ring 8 or from the can edge 4.
The design of the intended separation point 10 can, as indicated by the further examples in FIGS. 4 and 5, be quite different. In the example according to FIG. 4, it is formed by two mutually directed weakening grooves 12 and 13 running on the radial edge part 7 of the outer closure edge 3, whose base, which runs at an acute angle in cross section, is so close to one another that only a narrow connecting strip between the cover 5 and the ring 8 attached to the can is present.
Since the tight closure of the can is ensured by the elastic contact of the circumferential surface 14 of the lid 5, the predetermined separation point 10 can be provided with a perforation for particularly easy opening of the guarantee closure. However, in order not to allow the ring 8 of the outer closure edge 3 to be detached when the can is closed for the first time by machine, for example, it is advisable to provide the ring 8 of the closure edge with an attachment 15, the end 16 of which is in a plane with the upper boundary surface 17 of the lid 15 is located. When the guarantee lock is pushed onto the can, the thrust member (not shown) rests against both the end 16 of the attachment 15 and the surface 17 of the lid, so that the thrust force is transmitted via the attachment 15 to the ring 8 and no longer via the predetermined separation point 10.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 4, the outer closure edge 3 is molded below the upper delimiting edge 18 of the cover part, so that this edge forms a circumferential shoulder 19. This paragraph has the task of providing a secure hold for the can placed on it when several cans are stacked on top of one another. For this purpose, the cans are provided with a protruding edge at their lower end.
In a special embodiment, the guarantee closure can also be produced from two parts, which are combined into one part when the closure is connected to the can, for example by welding. Corresponding examples are shown in FIGS. 6 and 7. In these embodiments, a part is formed by the outer ring 8 running parallel to the can or closure axis. This is first firmly connected to the can, and only then is the lid 5 inserted and e.g. with a radially outwardly extending projection 20 on the cover 5 is welded to it. As shown in the example of FIG. 7, the intended separation point can also be formed by the weld point 21.
It is sufficient here if the welding takes place only at a few peripheral points of the closure so that the individual welding points can easily be loosened when the cover 5 is lifted off. After opening the can for the first time, the detached lid 5 can be used as an independent closure lid. However, it is then always evident from the severed predetermined separation point that the closure has already been opened.
8 shows a further example of the arrangement and design of a predetermined separation point 10. The ring 8 attached to the can 2 is connected to the lid 5 by a film of material 22 which tears easily when the lid is pulled away or rotated.
According to a further embodiment, the ring firmly connected to the can, as shown in FIG. 9, in contrast to the embodiments according to FIGS. 1-8, can also be firmly attached to the inner surface of the can 2. With this closure there is a ring 23 on the lower side of the lid 5, so that there is no closure edge 3 protruding beyond the can edge and the predetermined separation point 10 is located in a protected location inside the can.
