Fig. 1 die schaubildliche Darstellung einer Flanschverbindung,
Flange connection for the ends of rectangular duct sections
The invention relates to a flange connection for the ends of rectangular duct sections, which consist of sheet metal sheets bent at right angles, in particular those for ventilation systems, with the aid of angle profiles provided on each side wall of a duct section end.
In the previously known flange connections of this type, a right-angled angle profile iron is provided which is adapted to the circumference of the channel section.
These angle irons are screwed to the side walls at short intervals over the entire circumferential length of the duct sections by rivets or screws in order to give the duct section the required rigidity.
In addition, when connecting two such angle profile frames to be clamped against each other with the interposition of a seal, a large number of connecting screws penetrating them at short intervals is used.
The disadvantage of this type of connection is that the frame parts have to be welded together at the corners. For the connection of the two angle iron frames, a large number of aligned pairs of holes must be worked into them, which requires special manual dexterity and also a great deal of work. The introduction of the screws into this hole is also very difficult given the often cramped space conditions.
In order to remedy these deficiencies, the invention provides that the angle profiles consist of sheet metal bent into a profile piece, and that this profile piece has two legs at right angles to one another and at the end of the leg facing the adjacent channel section a development inclined towards the other leg has, to which a second, parallel to this other leg development connects and has a distance to this that allows the full insertion of the end of the side wall of the channel section into the gap thus formed, and that further into the cavity of two of the the ends of the open profile pieces each have a corner bracket with its legs inserted fully and in the non-inserted part contains a passage for a connecting screw to be provided at these corners for the flange connection.
With such a design of the flange connection there is the particular advantage that the profile pieces can be connected to the ends of the side walls of the channel section inserted therein by weld points. So it is achieved without drilling holes, the stiffening of the side walls with the Win angle profiles only by inserting the ends of the side walls of the channel sections in the gap formed on the profile pieces and by subsequent spot welding. The stiffening of these side walls is even better than when they are screwed to the angle profile frame.
The hollow sheet metal profile pieces are so stiff that the tight connection between two profile pieces to be clamped against each other can be achieved with the addition of a seal by means of four connecting screws provided at the corners of the channel sections, even if the length of one channel side is two to two and a half meters. The screws are easy to insert at these corners, especially if it is provided according to a further development of the invention that the corner brackets in the area of the passage have a flattening with top surfaces essentially parallel to the plane of the joint of the flange connection.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description, namely shows:
1 shows the diagrammatic representation of a flange connection,
FIG. 2, in the same diagrammatic representation, the view of the duct section located at the rear in FIG. 1,
3 shows a section through this along the section line 3-3 in FIG. 2, the channel section located at the front in FIG. 1 and to be connected to the rear channel section being indicated in FIG. 3 in dash-dotted lines.
Of the channel sections 11 and 13 to be connected to one another in the flange connection according to FIG. 1, only the end involved in the connection is drawn. On each of the four side walls 11a, 11c and lid or 13a, 13b, 13c and 13d, a bent sheet metal profile piece 15a, 15b, 15c and 15d or 17a, 17b, 17c and 17d is firmly attached in a manner to be explained .
Each of the profile pieces formed from sheet metal strips has two legs 19 and 21 which are at right angles to one another. At the end of the leg 21 facing the adjacent channel section, a development 23 directed obliquely towards the other leg 19 can be seen, to which a second development 25 is connected. This second development 25 is at a distance from the leg 19 at which a gap remains between these two parts for the end of the side walls of a channel section to be pushed in properly. The inserted side walls 11a to lid or 13a to 13d are firmly connected to the profile pieces 15a to 15d or 17a to 17d through weld point locations 27 crossing the insertion gap.
In the area of the corners of the channel sections, that is to say at the ends of the profile pieces that only extend over one side wall, these are open. These frontal openings are in turn used for inserting corner angle pieces 29, with the aid of which two profile pieces adjacent to each other at corners are aligned with one another. The inserted legs of the corner brackets can either have a total cross-section that completely fills the cavity or, as in the example shown, can be supplemented by a supplement 31 so that the cavity is fully filled in the area of this Schnell.
In the uninserted apex area of the corner brackets 29, these each have a flattening 33 with cover surfaces 33a and 33b that are essentially parallel to the plane of the joint of the flange connection, as well as a passage 35 intended for the passage of a connecting screw.
In the illustration according to FIG. 3, at 37 an enclosed sealing ring made of rubber-elastic material is indicated. By tightening the four connecting screws (not shown) provided at the corners, the sealing ring 37 can be tightened over its entire length with the required sealing effect in this flange connection, even if - contrary to the representation in the drawings - the distance between two such connecting screws is up to 2 .50 m.
