Ring die for forming pellets in feed presses The invention relates to a ring die for forming pellets in feed presses, which has a plurality of press bores distributed over its circumference, which stretch radially through the die wall, for the purpose of loose feed by means of the press chamber of the ring die arranged press rollers to be able to push through.
In matrices of this type, the press bores are widened conically at the entrance to improve the drawing-in of the loose feed to be pressed or provided with so-called preform chambers, which can be up to a third larger than the press bores themselves.
In any case, the number and the design of the bores are decisive for the throughput and quality of the compacts, but also at the same time for the wear and tear of the ring die. During the pressing process, the loose feed is fed into the interior of the rotating ring die and pressed through the bores under high pressure using the pressing rollers arranged in the pressing chamber.
This process causes very strong friction and therefore leads to considerable wear on the ring die, in particular in the area where the press bores are drawn in. The wear and tear is favored by the formation of corrosion, which is due to the moist feed to be processed. The ring die must therefore be replaced after a certain throughput or after a certain running time.
Attempts have been made to counteract this disadvantage by means of a special surface treatment or by using alloy steel. It is also known that the press bores lead out larger and are provided with short sleeves made of corrosion-resistant and low-wear material.
All of these measures are so complicated and expensive that the effort is in no way in proportion to the benefit and implementation is therefore not justifiable, especially if it is taken into account that a
