Coupling device that comes into effect automatically between slidable or pivotable links
Devices are known such as e.g. the device described in Swiss Patent No. 401 833 for reloading pourable material, in which three members pivotable about a common axis, such as two containers and a partition arranged between them, have to be coupled to one another differently in different work phases. For this purpose, a coupling device was previously provided that must be actuated by hand at the right time and in the right direction. Incorrect manipulations, which sometimes led to serious damage and also to injuries to the operator, occurred again and again.
The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a simple and reliable coupling device which automatically comes into effect between three members which can be displaced in the same direction with respect to one another or pivoted about a common axis.
The coupling device according to the invention is characterized by a spring-loaded coupling lever mounted on a first of the three members with a nose and a stop arm, a recess suitable for receiving the nose on the second of the three members and a counter-stop part present on the third member, the whole in such a way that the The second link takes the first link with it as it moves towards the third link as a result of the engagement of the nose in the recess achieved by the spring action, then the nose is removed from the recess in a transition phase as a result of the action of the counter-stop part on the stop arm while pivoting the coupling lever, and then the second link continues its movement alone.
A preferred embodiment of such a coupling is characterized in that the stop arm on the coupling lever forms the longer leg of a hook with a hook opening and the opposite shorter leg, the latter engaging over the counter-stop part during the pivoting of the coupling lever so that the first link is coupled to the third link when the second link continues its movement alone, the nose then remaining in contact with a surface present on this second link in order to maintain the aforementioned coupling of the first to the third link.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if the counter-stop part, which consists of a bolt, can be displaced on the third link until it is removed from the area of the stop arm, but either the shorter hook leg measured in this direction of displacement is so thick that it remains effective, or on the Coupling levers and auxiliary noses on the third link are immovably attached, which lie against one another in a similar way to the shorter hook shank on the counter-stop bolt that has not been moved out of its effective position.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
FIGS. 1 and 2 show two similar elevations of this embodiment, two different working positions being illustrated. For the sake of simplicity, it is assumed that the three links to be coupled to one another in different ways can be displaced in a straight line up and down with respect to one another, that is to say can be pivoted about a common axis located at an infinitely large distance.
If this distance had the usual finite value, nothing would change in the actual coupling device, but certain limitations of the links to be coupled would have to be represented as a circular arc with a common center.
1 denotes the first member, for example consisting of a partition 2 and its support arms 3 (denoted by 6 and 18 respectively in the above patent), with 4 the second member, to which e.g. the container 4 (denoted by 5 in the above patent) belongs, and with 5 the third member, to which e.g. the container 4 (designated 4 in the above patent) belongs.
On bearing eyes 6 belonging to the first link, a coupling lever 8, collectively designated 8, is mounted by means of a bearing journal 7. A compression spring 10 acts on the end 9 of the latter, which is supported on part 3 of the first link 1 and which tends to pivot the coupling lever 8 clockwise and thereby a roller or ball 12 which is in a position on its arm 11 trained nose 13 is mounted to press against a surface 15 of the second member 4 (Fig. 2), or to press the nose 13 into a recess 14 of this second member 4 (Fig. 1).
The surface 16 on the top of the arm 17 of the clutch lever 8 forms a stop which temporarily, as will be described, rests against a counter-stop part which consists of a bolt 19; this is displaceable in a sleeve 20 attached to the third link 5, so that it can optionally also be displaced into a position in which the clutch lever 8 can wander past it. The arm 17 forms, as it were, the longer leg of a hook with a hook opening 21 and a shorter leg 22, which can overlap the counter stop pin 19 in order to couple the first link to the third link 5 when it is uncoupled from the second link 4.
Since this state should also remain when the counter stop bolt 19 is retracted, auxiliary lugs 23 and 24 are provided for this purpose in the illustrated embodiment on the clutch lever 8 and on the third link 5; instead, the leg 22 could be bent and either overlap a corresponding end part of the sleeve 22 or a part of the counter stop bolt 19 which would still protrude from the sleeve 20 even with the counter stop bolt withdrawn.
It is now assumed that the third link 5 is held in an upper position (like the container 4 in FIG. 3 of the aforementioned patent) and that the second link 4 is further lifted towards it, initially taking the first link 1 with it. For this purpose, the coupling lever 8 is in the position shown in FIG. 1, the nose 13 engaging in the recess 14 in order to ensure the required coupling from 1 to 4.
As soon as in the course of lifting from 1 to 4 of the clutch lever 8 strikes with its stop surface 16 on the counter stop pin 19, the clutch lever is pivoted against the resistance of the spring 10 by this counter on striker pin 19; consequently, not only is the nose 13 removed from the recess 14 for the purpose of canceling the coupling between 1 and 4, but the leg 22 engages over the counter stop pin 19 and also engages over the auxiliary nose 24, both around the link 1 before it is completely uncoupled from the link 4 to be coupled to the link 5, with the continued upward movement of link 4 alone, its surface 15 rolls on the roller 12 so as to secure the coupling lever 8 in this active position shown in FIG.
If the link 4 is moved downwards later, the recess 14 comes to lie opposite the nose 13; this then occurs under the action of the spring 10 in this recess; at the same time the leg 22 moves away from the counter stop pin 19 and the auxiliary nose 23 moves away from the auxiliary nose 24; link 1 is thus coupled to link 4 and uncoupled from link 5.
If the link 5 is to be able to be moved downwards from the position relative to the link 1 shown in FIG. 2, the counter stop bolt 19 must be drawn in so that it can wander past the clutch lever 8.
