Frameless glazing for interchangeable pictures The invention relates to a frameless glazing device for interchangeable pictures, best starting from a back plate and a cover plate, between which the picture is held.
Various such devices are known. They are preferably used in rooms with a modern design. They usually consist of a flat back plate made of fiber or wood, on which the picture is placed and then covered with the protective glass pane, which is also flat. The back plate and the protective glass are usually connected to one another by some kind of clamping device and the image is held between them. These clamping devices, e.g. Wire clips or the like., Are visible on the show page and affect the effect of the picture. In addition, for hanging, usually protruding ears must be attached over the upper edge, which also reduce the good image effect.
These disadvantages are remedied by the present invention. It is characterized in that the back plate is bent backwards on at least one edge side and the cover plate has bends reaching behind the back plate on two opposite edge sides and rests against the back plate under prestress, for which purpose the cover plate in the unmounted state one against the back plates has directed curvature.
The accompanying drawings explain the invention using examples. They show three different designs of the device (Fig.1-3), as well as a cover plate before assembly (Fig. 4) in vertical cross section.
The back plate 1 has a flat front section 2 serving to support the image and at least one edge section 3 bent backwards. These bends can have the shape of an angle (Fig. 1 and 3) or an arc (Fig.2) in cross section, or otherwise be designed appropriately.
If the image is to hang in a plane running parallel to the wall surface 4, a back plate with two edge portions opposite one another, advantageously bent in the same way, is used (FIGS. 1, 2). If, on the other hand, an inclined position of the picture is desired, the back plate is only bent on one edge side (Fig. 3).
The back plate 1 is preferably formed from a composite material consisting of a core 5 made from a thermoplastic material, covered at least on one side with aluminum sheet 6. Preferably, however, the plastic core 5 is covered with aluminum sheet 6 on both sides. In the case of an aluminum covering only on one side, the aluminum sheet is advantageously facing the picture. If necessary after appropriate surface treatment (anodic oxidation, polishing, matting, coloring), the aluminum surface can replace the paper passe-partout that is otherwise common with such picture glazing, and new, attractive effects can be achieved in this way.
Means for hanging up the picture are advantageously provided on the inside of the bent edge section 3. The simplest solution for this is a bore 7, which is guided from the inside of the bent edge section 3 through the plastic core 5, and into which the hooks 8 or the like fastened in the wall then engage. Advantageously, however, the aluminum layer facing the room is not drilled through, so that e.g. the tip of a hook cannot be seen.
To cover the image placed on the back plate 1, a cover plate 9 is used, which is also bent at two opposite edges against the side facing the wall 4. These bends correspond to the design of the overlapping edges of the back plate. If the edge of the back plate is bent, the edge of the cover plate assigned to it shows preferably the same shape following the bend of the back plate (FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 above). If the edge of the back plate is not bent, then the assigned edge of the cover plate (Fig. 3 below) engages around it so that the cover plate has the necessary hold here as well.
In the case of an angular bend of the back plate (Fig. 1 and 3 above), the disc engages over at least the end face 10 of the bent edge of the back plate, so that the disc is properly anchored. In this latter configuration, it is also advantageous to provide the outer edge of the end face 10 with a bevel 11 so that the overlapping part of the cover disk can slide more easily into its correct position.
So that the parts of the cover plate that encompass the edge parts of the back plate are held in place with a certain force, so that the cover plate cannot easily be shifted sideways (e.g. when cleaning, dusting, etc.), the cover plate is positioned at right angles to its head level acting tension.
For this purpose, the disc is designed so that it has a slight curvature 12 in the unmounted state, so that the bent edges are straight in their longitudinal direction, while the non-bent edges show the curvature of the curvature (Figure 4). The convex side of the arch is turned against the back plate during assembly. This curvature or the resulting tension on the device mounted on it causes the. that the cover screen presses the picture against the back plate and holds it in place.
In order to be able to meet all these requirements, the cover pane is preferably not made of glass, but of a suitable plastic, e.g. formed from an acril glass molding.
Due to the edges of the device which are bent backwards, the main surface 2 of the back plate is kept at a relatively large distance from the wall. This significantly reduces the unpleasant appearance that if the picture has been hanging in the same place for some time, this place can be seen on the wall after the picture has been removed. This is particularly important if the wall surface is covered with wallpaper which, in the usual way of hanging, where the pictures lie directly on the wall surface, fades outside the image areas.
