In diesen Formeln bedeuten:
Naphthylrest. Vorzugsweise bedeutet A einen mit elek tronenanziehenden Substituenten nichtionogen-substi tuierten Phenylrest.
Als elektronenanziehende nichtiono gene Substituenten kommen beispielsweise in Betracht: Halogene, wie Fluor, Chlor oder Brom; die Cyan-, Rhodan-, Nitro-, Trifluormethylgruppe; ferner Acylgruppen, und zwar Carbacylgruppen, wie niedere Alkanoyl- oder Alkenoylgruppen, ferner die Aroylgruppen, wie die Benzoylgruppe, oder Organosulfonylgruppen, wie niedere Alkylsulfonyl- oder Arylsulfonylgruppen, weiter Sulfonsäure-arylestergruppen, wie die Sulfonsäu re-phenyl-, -alkylphenyl- oder -halogenphenyl-ester- gruppen; Carbonsäuresstergruppen, beispielsweise die Carbophenoxygruppe, besonders aber Carbalkoxygruppen, wie die Carbomethoxy-, Carbäthoxy-, Carboisopropoxy- oder Carbobutoxygruppe; die Sulfonsäureamid- oder Carbonsäureamidgruppe;

Process for the preparation of sparingly soluble azo dyes which are dispersible in water
The present invention relates to a process for the production of new water-dispersible, sparingly soluble azo dyes, which are used for dyeing hydrophobic organic fiber material, in particular textile fibers made from linear, highly masculine esters of aromatic polycarboxylic acids with polyvalent ones
Alcohols or cellulose esters can be used.
It has been found that valuable, poorly water-dispersible azo dyes are obtained if the diazonium compound of an amine of the formula I A-NH2 is combined with a coupling component of the formula II
EMI1.1
couples to an azo dye of the formula III,
EMI1.2
and here the components are chosen so that they do not contain any ionogenic salt-forming groups.
In these formulas:
A is the radical of an optionally substituted aromatic homocycle or heterocycle, R3 is an optionally substituted phenyl radical and
R2 and R3 are each hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenalkyl group.
As ionogenic-salt-forming groups that are excluded as substituents in the dye components and new dyes are here and in the fol lowing z. B. the known, the dyes giving anionic character, dissociating in water acidic, water-solubilizing substituents, such as the sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, phosphonic acid groups and the dyes giving cationic character onium groups such as the amruonium and sulfonium groups , designated; the abovementioned carbo and heterocycles and substituents accordingly do not contain such groups.
If A is the radical of an aromatic homocycle, this is mononuclear or polynuclear, condensed or non-condensed, especially an unsubstituted or non-ionically substituted phenyl or
Naphthyl radical. A preferably denotes a phenyl radical which is nonionogenically substituted with electron-withdrawing substituents.
Electron-attracting non-ionic substituents are, for example: halogens, such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine; the cyano, rhodan, nitro, trifluoromethyl group; also acyl groups, namely carbacyl groups, such as lower alkanoyl or alkenoyl groups, also the aroyl groups, such as the benzoyl group, or organosulfonyl groups, such as lower alkylsulfonyl or arylsulfonyl groups, further sulfonic acid aryl ester groups, such as the sulfonic acid re-phenyl, -alkylphenyl or - halophenyl ester groups; Carboxylic acid ester groups, for example the carbophenoxy group, but especially carbalkoxy groups, such as the carbomethoxy, carbethoxy, carboisopropoxy or carbobutoxy group; the sulfonic acid amide or carboxamide group;
N-mono- or disubstituted carbamoyl or sulfamoyl groups with a phenyl group and / or with alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, in particular lower alkanoyloxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cyanoalkyl or with cycloalkyl or phenalkyl substituents; as well as arylazo groups. All of these groups can be further substituted non-ionically. However, in addition to preferred electron-attracting substituents, the radical A can also contain nonionic electron-donating substituents, e.g.
B. lower aliphatic, optionally nonionic, for example hydroxyl-substituted hydrocarbon groups, optionally nonionic lower alkoxy groups, such as methoxy, ethoxy or ethoxycarbonylmethoxy groups, optionally nonionic aryloxy groups, such as the phenoxy group and the alkyl- or halogen-substituted phenoxy groups, or in particular acylamino groups Carbacylamino groups, e.g. B. lower alkanoylamino groups, such as the acetylamino group, aroylamino groups such as the benzoylamino group, or lower alkylsulfonylamino groups, such as the methylsulfonylamino group, or arylsulfonylamino groups, such as the phenylsulfonylamino group.
If A contains a phenylazo group, the azo groups in an aromatic homocycle preferably occupy the p-position. The phenylazo group is preferably unsubstituted; however, it can also be substituted by halogens such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine, or by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy groups or the nitro group. If A is a phenylazophenyl radical, the phenylene radical can also contain further non-ionic substituents, for example lower alkyl or alkoxy groups, halogens, such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine, or acylamino, such as lower alkanoylamino groups; however, it is advantageously unsubstituted.
If A is a naphthyl radical, it can be either an unsubstituted or a nonionogenically substituted 1- or 2-naphthyl radical. Particularly suitable substituents are lower alkyl and alkoxy groups, halogen, such as chlorine or bromine, optionally N-substituted sulfonic acid amide groups, aryl sulfonate, lower alkyl sulfonyl or aryl sulfonyl groups.
If A denotes the radical of an aromatic heterocycle, then it is above all a 5- or 6-membered particularly N-containing Fieterocycle belonging, for example, to the pyrazole, thiazole, oxdiazole, thiodiazole, triazole or pyridine series. Polynuclear condensed heterocycles, which then preferably have a fused benzene ring, such as, for example, the optionally nonionogenically substituted benzothiazole, indazole or quinoline rings, can also be considered.
As substituents, fused benzene rings can have nonionic substituents of the type mentioned, which are customary in azo dyes, especially halogens, nitro, rhodium, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylsulphonyl and optionally sulfonic acid amide groups substituted by lower alkyl or dialkyl groups.
In preferred dyes of the formula III, A a) denotes a phenyl radical having at least one nonionic, electron-withdrawing substituent in the o- and / or p-position to the azo group, or a b) optionally nonionic substituted benzothiazolyl (2) radical, or c ) an optionally nonionic substituted 4-phenylazo-phenyl radical.
If R2 and R3 are each an alkyl radical, this can have up to 8, preferably 1 to 4 carbon atoms and is straight-chain or branched. If this alkyl radical is substituted, possible substituents are, for example, the hydroxyl group or lower alkoxy groups such as the methoxy group, the cyano group or halogens such as chlorine or bromine. As cycloalkyl or phenalkyl groups, R2 and R3 are z. B. the cyclohexyl or the benzyl group.
The phenyl radical Rt, for example cyano groups, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy groups, the phenoxy group, lower alkanoyl, lower carbalkoxy, lower alkylsulphonyl, lower alkylsulphonyloxy, lower alkanoyl amido or lower alkylsulphonylamino groups, and unsubstituted carboxylic acid amido groups can be used as non-ionic substituents , by lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or cyanoalkyl groups, N-mono- or N, N-disubstituted carboxamide or sulfonic acid amide groups, or halogens such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine.
The coupling components of formula IIa correspond to the coupling components of formula IIa in dyestuffs which are characterized, among other things, by very good accessibility, a very high affinity for polyglycol terephthalate fibers and exceptional stability in the boiling dyebath and are also very lightfast and sublimation fast.
EMI2.1
In this formula: R 1 denotes an unsubstituted or substituted by methyl or methoxy group phenyl radical, and R 2 and R 3, each hydrogen or a lower unsubstituted or substituted by a hydroxyl or alkoxy group alkyl group.
Coupling components of the formula II which can be used according to the invention are prepared, for example, by reacting 2-phenylamino-4,6-dichloropyrimidines of the formula IV
EMI2.2
in which R1 denotes an unsubstituted or nonionogenically substituted phenyl radical, with ammonia or with optionally nonionogenically substituted primary alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenylalkylamines at elevated temperature. This reaction is preferably carried out at temperatures from 80 to 160 ° C., if appropriate in a closed reaction vessel.
Phenylamino-dichloro-pyrimidines of the formula IV are obtained, for example, by reacting 2,4,6-trichloro-pyrimidine with optionally nonionogenically substituted phenylamines of the formula Rt and separating the isomer mixtures of 2-pllenylamino-4,6-dichloropyrimidines and 4-phenyl-amino-2,6-dichloropyrimidines by crystallization or by chromatography.
The coupling of the diazonium compound of an amine of the formula I with the coupling component of the formula II is carried out by customary methods, preferably in a mineral-acidic to weakly acidic aqueous medium, in particular at a pH of 44.5. In the case of mineral acid coupling, the acid is gradually blunted, for example with alkali salts of lower fatty acids.
The dyes which can be prepared according to the invention are brought into a finely divided form by grinding with surface-active dispersants. Suitable dispersants are, for example, anionic, e.g. B.
Alkali salts of the sec. higher alkylarylsulfonates, alkali salts of the condensation products of formaldehyde with naphthalenesulfonic acids, ligninsulfonates or non-ionic ones, such as fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers.
In this preparation, dyes obtainable according to the invention are particularly suitable for dyeing hydrophobic, organic fiber material from aqueous dispersion, in particular for dyeing textile fibers from linear, high molecular weight esters of aromatic polycarboxylic acids with polyfunctional alcohols, for example from polyglycol terephthalates, polyglycolisophthalates, polyglycoletophthalates or polycyclohexane. B. of cellulose 21/2 acetate and cellulose triacetate fibers.
Dyes which can be produced according to the invention can, however, also be used for dyeing synthetic polyamide fibers, such as nylon.
The dyeing of polyglycol terephthalate fibers with aqueous dispersions of dyes which can be prepared according to the invention is preferably carried out at temperatures of over 1000 ° C. under pressure. The dyeing can also be carried out at the boiling point of the dye liquor in the presence of swelling agents, so-called carriers such as phenylphenols, polychlorobenzene compounds or similar auxiliaries, or by the padding process and subsequent heat setting at 180-220 ° C.
Dyes that can be prepared according to the invention have a good affinity for hydrophobic organic fibers, especially polyglycol terephthalate or cellulose acetate fibers, and produce strong greenish-yellow, yellow, orange and red colorations on these fibers that are excellent for washing, milling, subliming, light and rubbing -, sweat, solvent, overdye, decatur, gas fading and exhaust.
Furthermore, dyes produced according to the invention reserve vegetable and animal fibers, in particular cotton or wool, very well. With the dyes obtainable according to the invention, good and even dyeings are obtained, even on tightly twisted fabrics or hard-twisted yarns.
The dyes which can be prepared according to the invention differ from the previously known dyes of similar constitution in that they have very good drawability and build-up properties on polyglycol terephthalate fibers. In addition, colorations produced with dyes which can be prepared according to the invention are in most cases significantly better lightfast and sublimation fast.
Dyes which can be prepared according to the invention are also suitable for dyeing cellulose acetates, polyglycol terephthalates and polyamides in bulk. Thanks to their good solubility in organic solvents such as acetone or chloroform, they can also be used in paints and printing inks.
In the following examples the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Polyglycol terephthalate means the products known under the trade names TERYLEN, VYCRON, DACRON and TREVIRA.
Example 1 18.3 g of 1-amino-2,4-dinitrobenzene are dissolved in 100 g of concentrated sulfuric acid and diazotized at 20-25 with the amount of nitrosylsulfuric acid corresponding to 6.9 g of sodium nitrite. The diazonium salt solution thus obtained is left at 0-5 "to a solution of 27.1 g of 4,6-bis-ethylamino-2- (4'-methylphenylamino) pyrimidine in 300 g of 800 / above acetic acid and 200 g The pH of the coupling mixture is then brought to 4-5 by adding sodium acetate.

corresponds, is filtered off, washed with water and dried at 70-80 in a vacuum. 10 g of the dye thus obtained are brought into a finely dispersible form by grinding with 30 g of a lignosulfonate. This dye preparation can be used to dye polyglycol terephthalate fibers from an aqueous dispersion, if appropriate in the presence of a swelling agent such as sodium o-phenylphenolate, in pure red shades. The coloring is very good wash, sweat, rub, sublimation and lightfast.
The 4,6-bis-ethylamino-2- (4'-methyl-phenyl-amino) -pyrimidine used as coupling component in this example is obtained, for example, by reacting 4,6-dichloro-2- (4'-methyl-phenylamino) ) pyrimidine with aqueous ethylamine at 150-160.
Dyestuffs with similar properties are obtained if the diazo components listed in column 2 of Table I below are combined with one of the coupling components listed in column 3 under the conditions described in the above example.

Example 10
18 g of 2-amino-6-methoxy-benzothiazole are diazotized in 100 g of concentrated sulfuric acid at -5 with nitro sylsulfuric acid, corresponding to 6.9 g of sodium nitrite. The prepared diazonium salt solution is added dropwise at 0-5 to a solution of 28.5 g of 4,6-bis-propylamino-2-phenylamino-pyrimidine in 450 g of 40% acetic acid. The pH of the coupling mixture is then increased to 4-4.5 by adding sodium acetate.
After the coupling is complete, the red coupling product which has separated out, has the composition of the formula

corresponds, filtered off, washed with water and then dried at 70-80. After grinding with the sodium salt of the condensation product of naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid with formaldehyde, the dye thus obtained dyes polyglycol terephthalate fibers from an aqueous dispersion, optionally in the presence of a swelling agent such as trichlorobenzene, with extensive exhaustion of the dyebath in pure scarlet shades. The colors are very wash, rub, light and sublime fast.
Dyestuffs with similar properties are obtained if the diazo components given in column 2 of Table II below are combined with the equivalent amount of one of the coupling components given in column 3 under the conditions described in the above example.

Dyeing instructions a) Polyglycol terephthalate fabric (such as Dacron) is impregnated on a padder at 400 with a liquor of the following composition:
20 parts by weight of the dye obtained in Example 1 finely dispersed in:
7.5 parts by weight sodium alginate
20 parts by weight of triethanolamine
20 parts by weight of octylphenol ether and 900 parts by weight of water.
The fabric, which has been squeezed off to a content of about 100% impregnation liquor, is dried at 100 "and then fixed for 30 seconds at a temperature of 2100. The dyed goods are rinsed with water, soaped and dried. Under these conditions, a washing machine is obtained. , rub, light and sublimation fast red coloring.
The dyes described in the other examples give dyeings of equal quality by this process. b) 2 g of the dye obtained in Example 10 are finely suspended in 2000 g of water containing 4 g of oleyl polyglycol ether in a printing dyeing machine. The pH of the dyebath is adjusted to 5-5.5 with acetic acid.
100 g of polyglycol terephthalate fabric are then poured in at 50, the bath is heated to 1400 within 30 minutes and dyed for 50 minutes at this temperature. The dye is then rinsed with water, soaped and dried. If these conditions are observed, a wash, perspiration, light and sublimation fast, pure scarlet coloration is obtained.
The dyes described in the other examples produce dyeings of equal quality by this process. c) 2 g of the dye obtained in Example 15 are dispersed in 4000 g of water. To this dispersion, 12 g of sodium o-phenyl-phenolate and 12 g of diammonium phosphate are added as swelling agents and 100 g of polyglycol terephthalate yarn are dyed at 95-980 for 11/2 hours. The dye is rinsed and treated with dilute sodium hydroxide solution and a dispersant.
The result is a washable, lightfast and sublime-fast, pure scarlet color.
If, in the above example, the 100 g of polyglycol terephthalate yarn is replaced by 100 g of cellulose triacetate fabric, dyed under the specified conditions and then rinsed with water, a scarlet color is obtained that is very washable and sublime-fast.
