Process for the production of solvent-free plastic compounds for road markings and coatings
The present invention relates to a process for the production of solvent-free plastic compositions for road markings and coatings, which are applied and curable in thick layers on surfaces in liquid form with or without heat, which process is characterized in that the compositions are made using polyoaminoamides or polyoaminoimlidazolines with higher Amine number can be produced together with liquid unmodified epoxy resins as reactants, ethylene glycol, triethylenetetramine and an organic acid as accelerators, as well as inhibitors, stabilizers and inorganic fillers.
As described below, three components are made and mixed together with a high speed mixer before use. At normal temperature, these components will change into a hard, elastic state through an exothermic reaction. However, if the above-mentioned mixture is treated with heat up to 800 C, the hardening reaction is accelerated.
It is generally known that road markings and coatings have so far mainly been produced with solvent-based chlorinated rubber paints or with other synthetic resin paints. The solvent-based road marking paints have lower physical and chemical resistance. B, when used, a thinner layer of film is applied.
The solvent residues impair the resistance to oil, gasoline and chemicals. Such markings and coatings are not entirely satisfactory because they wear out more quickly.
In contrast, it is made possible according to the invention to produce a solvent-free polyaddition plastic compound for road markings and coatings, with faster curing, better chemical resistance, dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, adhesion, heat, light, and corrosion resistance and storage stability. The use of the aforementioned plastic compound enables up to 10 times thicker layers to be applied in one operation than with synthetic resin paints. Furthermore, the adhesion on a damp surface becomes much more permanent. It is made possible to apply the plastic compound to the substrate mechanically or manually by pouring it.
According to the invention, polyoaminoamides or polyoaminoimidazolines, as reactive primary and secondary amino groups with a higher amine number of 580 to 620, result in a faster saturation reaction with liquid, unmodified etoxiline resins (epoxy equivalent 200) as reactants. In addition, the resistance to oil, gasoline and chemicals as well as the dimensional stability and the adhesion are improved.
The further incorporation of OH groups in the form of 3 percent by weight or more of ethylene glycol for the total amount of resin and accelerators such as 4 percent by weight or more of triethylenetetramine for the total amount of resin and an organic acid salt of 1 percent by weight or more of salicylic acid for the total amount of resin has proven to be very favorable because of the faster reaction. Saicylic acid reacts earlier and the initial reaction is increased, which means that curing takes place more quickly, which is particularly advantageous for road markings and coatings.
It has already been proposed to use lead chromates with 0.5 percent by weight or more SiO2 to the total amount of resin or other silicates such as quartz, mica, as fillers. SiO and other silicates in connection with lead chromates form particularly effective heterocomplex saunas, which have proven to be very beneficial as corrosion protection. Titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, marble and kaolin are used as other additives for color and fillers. Against heat and light radiation, the addition of 1 percent by weight of aluminum bronze to the total amount of resin is recommended because it reaches the plastic surface as small flakes, whereby the rays of heat and light are reflected back in large quantities.
This process significantly increases the heat and light resistance of the hardened plastic compound. As a stabilizer, 1 percent by weight or more of magnesium oxide is needed for the total amount of resin.
The three components are produced according to the following recipe examples. Before use, they are mixed together by machine or manually and applied to the substrate. The surface must be clean and free of oil. The applied mass is warmed up for some time by means of an infrared heater or other heat, depending on the outside temperature up to 800 C. This results in a better bond in general, especially with asphalt, and reduces the hardening time. But you can work well with the mass without heat.
