Man arbeitet darum vorteilhaft mit den wässrigen Lösungen der Alkalisalze der metallfreien Farbstoffe bei möglichst tiefen Temperaturen und. pH-Werten, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart von Mineralsäure abstumpfenden Mitteln, wie Alkalisalzen niederer Fettsäuren;
Azinylierungsmittels bzw.

Als solche kom men insbesondere Athergruppen,
Acyloxygruppen und RTI ID="0002.0208" WI="37" HE="4" LX="1139" LY="2412"> Disulfonylamidogruppen in Frage.

Manr verwendet z.

Additional patent to main patent no. 441 572 Process for the production of metal-containing reactive formazan dyes In Swiss patents, nos. 394 440 and 441 572 are reactive metal-containing Formazan dyes are described in which a metal with atomic numbers 24 to 29 is tricyclically coordinated to a formazan compound.
The metal-free formazan compounds on which these heavy metal-containing formazan dyes are based contain a metallizable group on each of the two external, aromatic radicals in the o-position to the formazan chain.
In further processing the subject matter of the invention, it has now been found that valuable heavy metal-containing dyes are obtained even with formazan compounds which only contain a metallizable group on one of the external azo-bonded aromatic radicals in the o-position to the azo group.
The process for the production of the new reactive formazan dyes in which the heavy metal is dicyclically coordinated to a formazan compound and which correspond to formula 1,
EMI0001.0023
R is a monovalent substituent, in particular a nucleophilic radical, for example a monovalent aromatic-isocyclic or aromatic-heterocyclic radical, a nitro, cyano,
Carbacyl or arylcarbonyl amino group, A and B each represent the radical of an aromatic isocyclic diazo component or heterocyclic diazo component of aromatic character, in particular a radical of the benzene or naphthalene series, X is a metal-binding group in o-position to the azo bond, preferably an oxy, carboxy or sulfonylamido group,
Y identical or different acid-dissociating, salt-forming, water-solubilizing groups, preferably sulfonic acid groups, but also carboxyl, phosphonic acid or acylated sulfamide groups, Z an acylated or azinylated amino group,
which is derived from a primary or secondary amino group and the acyl radical or azinyl radical of which contains at least one mobile substituent which reacts with alkalis while entraining the pair of bonding electrons or a substituent containing such an acylated or azinylated amino group,
in particular an amino group substituted by a di- to trihalopyrimidyl radical, Me a heavy metal with atomic numbers 24 to 29, preferably copper or nickel, or then cobalt or chromium, m being the numbers 1 or 2 and n being the numbers 1 to 5 characterized in that formazan compounds of the formula 1I
EMI0001.0073
where XH is a metallizable group in o-position to the azo group, and R, A, B, Y, Z,
m and n have the meaning given in formula I, with a heavy metal of atomic numbers 24 to 29 introducing agents.
In particularly valuable and therefore preferred dyes available according to the invention, Me denotes copper and A and B denote residues of diazo components of the benzene or naphthalene series and R is an organic substituent.
The metal-free dyes of the formula II are either prepared from components which have at least one; under observation of suitable precautionary measures because of the mobility of critical substituents.
contain substituents Z as defined, or the compounds which, instead of an acylated or azinylated amino group Z, contain an acylatable or azinylable amino group, or a group which can be converted into such a group,
after conversion into the acylatable or azinylatable amino group has taken place, if appropriate, a radical containing the mobile substituents.
The following azinylating agents are primarily suitable: cyclic carbimide halides, which are the reactive grouping
EMI0002.0019
in which Hal is represented by halogen of atomic numbers 17 to 35, contain several times, in particular halo genazinyl compounds of aromatic character which contain at least two tertiary ring nitrogen atoms and at least two mobile halogen atoms of atomic numbers 17 to 35 on these adjacent ring carbon atoms,
thus for example 2,4,6-trichloro- or 2,4,6-tribromo-1,3; 5-triazine, 2-alkoxy-, 2-alkyl, 2-phenyl-, 2-amino-, 2-alkylamino -, 2-phenylamino, 2-sulfophenylamino, 2-ureido or 2-guanidino-4,6-dichloro- or -4,6-dibromo-1,3,5-triazine, 2,4- or 4, 6-dichloro- or -dibromopyrimidines,
which optionally contain further substituents in the remaining positions, in particular further halogen atoms or negative groups, such as nitro, acyl, cyano or even just alkyl or phenyl groups, and also tetrameric cyanogen chloride or cyanogen bromide.
As acylating agent, ss-halo-fatty acid halides, such as ss-haloalkanoyl and especially ss-haloalkenoyl halides with halogens of atom numbers 17 to 35, including in particular ss-chlorine or ss bromocrotonic acid chloride or bromide, also m- (s-chloroethylsulfamyl)
benzoyl chloride. or use m- (ss- bromoethylsulfamyl) benzoyl chloride.
The reaction conditions are to be chosen so that neither as a result of an excessively high pH value of the reaction medium nor an excessively high temperature, premature exchange of mobile groups occurs.
It is therefore advantageous to work with the aqueous solutions of the alkali salts of the metal-free dyes at the lowest possible temperatures and. pH values, optionally in the presence of mineral acid dulling agents, such as alkali salts of lower fatty acids;
that is, at pH values from approximately 2 to 7 and at temperatures from 0 to approximately 60 ° C., depending on the resistance of the acylating agent or. Azinylating agent or mobility of the exchangeable substituents in group Z.
The acylation or. Azinylating agents are expediently used in at least an equimolecular amount or in the presence of several acylatable or azinylaceable amino groups with a multiple amount corresponding to their number in a fine dispersion, for example as suspensions or emulsions, optionally with the aid of inert, easily removable organic solvents,
like lower ketones. The acylating or azinylating agent is allowed to act for so long; until the amino groups to be acylated or azinylated are no longer detectable; for example by diazotization and coupling; when primary amino groups are involved, which is preferably the case.
For the inventive metallization of the metal-free dyes of the formula 1I, the usual metal-releasing agents can be used, for example mineral acid salts of copper, cobalt, nickel or chromium, expediently in the presence of alkali salts of lower fatty acids or of polybasic oxygen acids of phosphorus as mineral acid blunting Medium, at moderately high temperatures and pH values of approximately 1 to 7, in order to prevent the premature exchange of mobile substituents as much as possible.
The isolation and drying of the dyes which can be prepared according to the invention must be done with caution, for example by salting out the alkali salts with sodium chloride in a weakly acidic solution and by drying at a moderately elevated temperature and preferably in a vacuum.
The starting materials of the formula II which can be used according to the invention are obtained by methods known per se. They can be used, for example, by the coupling method described in main patent no. 441 572. of 2 mol of aryldiazonium compound with 1 mol of a compound which is coupled on twice, if appropriate with elimination of substituents on a methylene or methine group, or by the hydrazone method just described there, the procedure being followed
that in each case 1 mol of an o-hydroxy, o-carboxy or o-sulfonylamidoaryldiazo- nium compound and 1 mol of an aryldiazonium compound without such an ortho metallizable group are used or
in the process according to the hydrazone method, the hydrazone and diazo component is selected so that only one of them contains a metallizable substituent in the o-position to the hydiazo or diazo group.
The diazo components with an ortho metallizable group are primarily those in the. Production of azo dyes customary in consideration, so above all o-hydroxy and o-carboxy aminobenzenes and aminonaphthalenes, which are characterized by halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl and aryl groups, by alkoxy,
Aryloxy, sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid ester, sulfonic acid ester, sulfonic acid alkyl or aralkyl or arylamide groups, through alkyl or aryl carbonyl, alkyl or arylsulfonyl groups, through alkyl, aralkyl =,
Cycloalkyl or arylamino groups can be substituted by stilbyL or arylazo groups and finally also by acylamino groups, the latter being optionally saponified afterwards and, after dye formation, converted into an amido group as defined.
If appropriate, it is also possible to use those diazo components which, instead of the abovementioned ortho-position hydroxyl or cabroxyl groups, contain substituents which, as such, cannot be metalized, but can be converted into metalizable groups after coupling has taken place. In particular, ether groups
Acyloxy groups and RTI ID = "0002.0208" WI = "37" HE = "4" LX = "1139" LY = "2412"> Disulfonylamido groups in question.
The diazo components of the type mentioned above, in particular the o-carboxy and o-disulfonylamidoaryl diazonium compounds, can also be converted into the corresponding hydrazine compounds by reduction and then used as starting materials for the process according to the hydrazone method.
The compounds known from azo dye chemistry are also advantageously used as diaze components without an ortho metallic beer group. There are, for example: aminobenzoics, aminonaphthalines, aminoazoles; such as
B-. 2-aminothiazoles, aminobenzothiazoles, 2-aminotriazoles, 4 = or 5-aminopyrazoles, 3-aminoindazoles, distant aminoazines, such as, for example, 3- and 4-aminopyridines and 3- and 4-aminoquinolines, into consideration, these still having substituents - of the type mentioned above. can Is the definition available,
Acylated or azinylated or: aayable or azinylable amino group in one of these diazo components free of ortho-metallizable groups,
then the same is advantageously an m- or p-monoacylaminobenzene diazonium compound optionally further substituted in the benzene nucleus, and in particular an m- or p-monoacyl or. Monoazinylamino-diazobenzene-o-sulfonic acid: As coupling components;
which couple on a methylene or methine carbon atom twice, optionally with elimination of substituents, come primarily from the compounds described in the main patent, but also above all a-carbonylalkanes and a-cyano or a-acyl acetic esters. a-Acylessigsäurearylamides in question.
Finally, the main aldehydes for hydrazone formation are ... aromatic-isocyclic ones, since they lead to the particularly valuable meso-arylformazan dyes. Manr uses z.
B: Benzaldehyde, tolualdehyde, 3-nitrobenzaldehyde, benzaldehyde-2,4-disulfonic acid, 2- or 4-chlorobenzaldehyde, 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde, anisaldehyde, vanillin, 4-dimethyl- or 4-diethylaminobenzaldehyde and 4- Dihydroxyethyl aminobenzaldehyde. Also heterocyclic aldehydes, such as.
B. furfural, piperonal, pyridine, quinoline and benzimidazole aldehydes are possible and finally aliphatic or araliphatic aldehydes, such as acetaldehyde, crotonic aldehyde, caproaldehyde, phenacetaldehyde or cinnamon aldehyde, are valuable end products.
The heavy metal-containing formazan dyes of the formula I obtainable according to the process described are dark powders which, in the form of their alkali metal, are very soluble in water. They show against natural and regenerated cellulose fibers Example 1

Instead of an alkaline aftertreatment, especially with hot fixation, the acid-binding agent; preferably in the form of alkali bicarbonates, even the impregnation liquors or printing pastes; add and then the development of the color by briefly heating or steaming at temperatures above 100 to 160 C be. The addition of hydotropic agents to the printing inks and impregnation liquors is advantageous in this process, for example the addition of urea in amounts of 10 to 200 g per liter of colorant.
The treatment with acid-binding agents chemically binds the new dyes to the fiber and the cellulose dyeings produced with them are extremely waterfast and very good lightfast after soaping for the purpose of removing unfixed dye. The dyeings are also very pure, even and good rub-fast.
In the following examples the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Unless otherwise noted, the parts are parts by weight. Parts by weight are related to parts by volume like grams to, cms. Hydrazone from benzaldehyde 2-sulionic acid and phenylhydrazine-2-carboxylic acid = 4-sulphonic acid according to the known method) are dissolved in 200 parts in a water-neutral manner;
By adding 1.50 parts of copper sulphate solution (corresponding to 7 parts of copper) the dye is converted into the corresponding copper complex compound. The copper-containing dye is then precipitated by adding sodium chloride, filtered off, washed with dilute sodium chloride solution and carefully dried in vacuo.
It is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a purple color.
If cotton is impregnated with a 2% aqueous solution of this dye thickened by means of sodium alginate, which contains 200 g urea and 20 g sodium carbonate per liter, and the goods are steamed neutral for 5 to 10 minutes or for 5 minutes to 130 to Heated, soaped with hot water, rinsed and dried, the result is a blue-violet, washable color.
Using the metal-free formazan compounds obtained from the 4-trichloropyrimidyl, 4-dichloropyrimidyl and: 4-ss-bromocrotonylamino-1-aminobenzene-2-sulphonic acids instead of the 4-ss-chloropropionylamino-1-aminobenzene-2-sulphonic acid The formazan compound obtained have been prepared according to the method described in the example above, dyes with similar good properties.

26.9 parts of 2-amino-1-hydroxybenzene-4,6-disulfonic acid are indirectly diazotized by the customary method. The suspension of the diazonium compound is added dropwise to a suspension with thorough stirring:
calc of 20.4 parts of ethyl phenylformylacetate in 200 parts of water, 250 parts by volume of dioxane and 10.5 parts by volume of a 10N sodium hydroxide solution in the presence of such an amount. Sodium carbonate at 0 to 10 is added so that after the diazonium compound has been introduced, the reaction mixture reacts weakly phenol-phthalein-alkaline.
After the coupling has ended, it is adjusted to a slightly brilliant alkaline reaction by adding concentrated hydrochloric acid, diluted and heated to the boil.
After adding enough sodium hydroxide solution to ensure a strongly alkaline reaction until the end of the saponification, the coupling product is kept for 10 minutes in the reflux condenser at the boiling point.
The solution of the saponification product is then made with glacial acetic acid and then combined at 0 to 10 with the neutralized diazonium salt obtained by diazotizing 37 parts of condensation product from 1,4-diaminobenzene-2-sulfonic acid and 2,4,5,6-tetrachloropyrimidine. The coupling mixture is then added to a copper sulfate solution (corresponding to 7 parts of copper).
After brief heating to 45, the copper-containing dye of the formula given above, in which R is the 4,5,6-trichloropyrimidyl (2) or the 2,5,6-trichloropyrimidyl (4) radical, is through Addition of sodium chloride precipitated, filtered off, washed with sodium chloride solution and: carefully dried in vacuo. It is a dark powder that dissolves in water with a blue color.
If cotton is impregnated with a 2% aqueous solution of this dye thickened with sodium alginate, which contains 200 g urea and 20 g sodium bicarbonate per liter, and after gentle drying, the goods are steamed neutral for 5 to 10 minutes or for 5 minutes to 130 to 150 heated, soaped with hot water, rinsed and dried, the result is a beautiful, blue, washable color.
