  Dispositif pour plier en continu une suite de feuilles
 La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif pour plier en continu une suite de feuilles, ces feuilles pouvant présenter des impressions, telles que feuilles de journaux ou revues, présentant éventuellement déjà des pliages précédents. On connaît déjà des dispositifs de pliage agissant, par exemple, au moyen d'une lame métallique venant frapper la feuille à l'endroit du pli et l'engageant ensuite entre deux cylindres chargés de comprimer le pli pour le rendre durable. Ce mode d'opération présente les inconvénients suivants: il est bruyant et provoque parfois, par son action brutale, la détérioration de la feuille; en outre, sa vitesse de fonctionnement ne peut être élevée vu l'inertie des pièces mues de façon irrégulière ou en mouvement alternatif.



   L'invention a pour but d'obtenir une action de pliage progressive et continue ainsi que l'élimination des mouvements alternatifs ou saccadés.



   Le dispositif, selon l'invention, pour plier en continu une suite de feuilles, notamment des feuilles imprimées, est caractérisé par au moins quatre organes de transport dont deux agissant dans un même plan de pliage, transportent chaque feuille en les maintenant entre eux, tandis que les autres organes de transport, disposés de part et d'autre du plan de pliage, suivent des trajets symétriques qui les rapprochent de ce plan en exerçant, par leur disposition, une pression continue sur les parties non supportées de la feuille transportée, de manière à obtenir un effet progressif de pliage des pans situés de part et d'autre dudit plan de pliage. De préférence, les organes de transport sont des courroies, mais une action identique peut être obtenue en utilisant, par exemple, des   cà-    bles ou fils métalliques ou chaînes.



   Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, une forme d'exécution du dispositif, objet de l'invention, en perspective isométrique.



   La feuille, qui peut être par exemple une publication 1, est introduite entre les roues 2 et 3 et sous les roues 4 et 5.



   La roue 2 conduit un transporteur supérieur 6 tendu entre les roues 2 et 7. La roue 3 conduit un transporteur inférieur 4, tendu entre les roues 3 et 9. La feuille est transportée et maintenue par pincement entre les transporteurs 6 et 8 qui agissent respectivement sur et sous la ligne de pliage représentée en pointillé sur la feuille   l.   



   Par son poids propre, la feuille a tendance à plier de part et d'autre du transporteur 8. Cette position est représentée en 10. Le rapprochement des pans de la feuille est assuré par la pression exercée continuellement par les transporteurs latéraux 11 et 12, ceux-ci se rejoignant, après un trajet symétrique, entre les cylindres 13 et 14 destinés à comprimer et parfaire le pli.



   Un dispositif souple, par exemple un ressort 15, maintient les cylindres 13 et 14 rapprochés. Une gorge 16 est prévue sur chacun des cylindres de manière à loger les transporteurs   1 1    et 12 afin qu'ils ne dépassent pas la surface des cylindres en présentant une proéminence. Ces susdits cylindres 13 et 14, agissant en laminoirs, compriment la feuille pliée et en écrasant ainsi   e    pli le rendent plus durable. En 17 est représentée une feuille pliée sortant des cylindres.



   La vitesse de translation est la même pour tous les transporteurs 6, 8,   1 1    et 12.



   Un ou plusieurs galets 18 guident le cheminement du transporteur 8 et peuvent lui faire suivre un trajet suivant une courbe déterminée, ceci pour aider le pliage progressif de la feuille.



   Dans le dispositif décrit, L'action de pliage est progressive et régulièrement continue ce qui permet de grandes vitesses de fonctionnement. L'accès à la feuille est possible sur tout le trajet parcouru.

 The present invention relates to a device for continuously folding a series of sheets, these sheets being able to present prints, such as sheets of newspapers or magazines, possibly already having previous folds. Folding devices are already known which act, for example, by means of a metal blade striking the sheet at the location of the fold and then engaging it between two cylinders responsible for compressing the fold to make it durable. This mode of operation has the following drawbacks: it is noisy and sometimes causes, by its sudden action, the deterioration of the sheet; furthermore, its operating speed cannot be high given the inertia of the parts moved irregularly or in reciprocating motion.



   The object of the invention is to obtain a progressive and continuous folding action as well as the elimination of reciprocating or jerky movements.



   The device according to the invention for continuously folding a series of sheets, in particular printed sheets, is characterized by at least four transport members, two of which acting in the same folding plane, transport each sheet while keeping them between them, while the other transport members, arranged on either side of the folding plane, follow symmetrical paths which bring them closer to this plane by exerting, by their arrangement, a continuous pressure on the unsupported parts of the transported sheet, so as to obtain a progressive folding effect of the panels situated on either side of said folding plane. Preferably, the transport members are belts, but an identical action can be obtained using, for example, cables or wires or chains.



   The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device, object of the invention, in isometric perspective.



   The sheet, which can be for example a publication 1, is introduced between the wheels 2 and 3 and under the wheels 4 and 5.



   The wheel 2 drives an upper conveyor 6 stretched between the wheels 2 and 7. The wheel 3 drives a lower conveyor 4, stretched between the wheels 3 and 9. The sheet is transported and held by clamping between the conveyors 6 and 8 which act respectively on and under the fold line shown in dotted lines on sheet l.



   By its own weight, the sheet tends to fold on either side of the conveyor 8. This position is shown at 10. The sides of the sheet are brought together by the pressure continuously exerted by the lateral conveyors 11 and 12, the latter joining, after a symmetrical path, between the rolls 13 and 14 intended to compress and perfect the fold.



   A flexible device, for example a spring 15, keeps the cylinders 13 and 14 close together. A groove 16 is provided on each of the cylinders so as to accommodate the carriers 1 1 and 12 so that they do not protrude from the surface of the cylinders by having a protrusion. These aforesaid rolls 13 and 14, acting as rolling mills, compress the folded sheet and thereby crushing the fold make it more durable. At 17 is shown a folded sheet emerging from the cylinders.



   The travel speed is the same for all conveyors 6, 8, 1 1 and 12.



   One or more rollers 18 guide the path of the conveyor 8 and can make it follow a path along a determined curve, this to help the progressive folding of the sheet.



   In the device described, the folding action is progressive and regularly continuous, which allows high operating speeds. Access to the sheet is possible throughout the journey.

REVENDICATION Dispositif pour plier en continu une suite de feuilles, notamment des feuilles imprimées, caractérisé par au moins quatre organes de transport (6, 8, 11, 12) dont deux (6, 8) agissant dans un même plan de pliage, transportent chaque feuille en les maintenant par pincement entre eux, tandis que les autres organes de transport (11 et 12), disposés de part et d'autre du plan de pliage, suivent des trajets symétriques qui les rapprochent de ce plan en exerçant, par leur disposition, une pression continue sur les parties non supportées de la feuille transportée de manière à obtenir un effet progressif de pliage des pans situés de part et d'autre dudit plan de pliage.
