Device for marking material webs made of paper, plastic and / or metal foils. The invention relates to a device for marking material webs using an embossing foil, the print or color application of which is transferred to the material web by means of a heatable embossing stamp.
Embossing foils, the carrier foils of which are coated with a color film, are increasingly being used for marking objects of all kinds. They are characterized by special advantages, e.g. B. through contour sharpness and smear resistance.
Also for marking packaging films, e.g. B. with encrypted or open information about packaging data, packaging companies and the like., Embossing foils are already used.
Such an embossing mechanism has become known in which the embossing foil drawn off from a supply roll is fed to the take-up reel via two deflection rollers and then between a pair of feed rollers. Between the two pulleys, the embossing foil runs closely parallel to the material web.
The heated embossing stamp stored in a housing is pressed by a movement-controlled lever in a certain rhythm against the embossing foil and together with it against the material web and then retrieved, whereupon the foil is pulled forward by an amount corresponding to the amount of the embossing types.
This known embossing device, which builds up exclusively on the use of mechanical means, requires a considerable amount of construction elements. In addition, there is a disadvantage in the mechanical loading of the Prägestem pels by the lever, which in turn receives its movement impulse from a photocell scanning the register marks on the material web or from any other electrically or mechanically operated sensor. In each of these cases there is a delay, albeit a slight one, in the transmission of motion to the lever,
so that the embossing does not always hit the predetermined point of the material web with the necessary accuracy.
To remedy these disadvantages is the task of the inven tion, according to which the die can be controlled by an electric magnet, the die is in engagement with a transport member preferring the embossing film and the return movement of the Prägestem pels is made available to advance the embossing film. The die is expediently designed as an extension of the magnetic core, so that the electrical impulse emitted by a photo cell on the magnet can spontaneously be converted into a stroke movement of the die.
The die is expediently provided with two laterally protruding drivers, between which one finger of a pinion rack is guided in a form-fitting manner, while the other finger engages in the recess provided on the outer surface of a preferred roller. This drive connection from the stamping die to the transport member of the stamping foil, which is effected with the simplest of means, ensures a maximum degree of correspondence in the interaction of the movements.
Further details emerge from a game of Ausführungsbei shown schematically in the drawing of the device or an embossing unit which is mounted along a material web 1 on a support plate 2. At the lower end of the support plate 2 there is a bearing point for receiving a stamping film supply roll 3, from which the strip 3a pulled off via a deflection roll 4 close to and running parallel to the material web 1 between a preferred roll pair 5,
6 through a arranged at the upper end of the support plate 1 take-up reel 7 is fed, which in turn is driven by a chain 21 of the preferred roller 5. An electromagnet 8 is fastened with its foot 9 on the support plate 2 perpendicular to the material web 1. The magnetic core is lengthened to form an embossing die 10, which is releasably fastened in a block 11 which is at a distance from the magnetic base 9 and which can be pushed back and forth, and which protrudes slightly from the block 11.
The end face of the stamping die 10 is equipped with an stamping type 10a, the total width of which corresponds to the width of the stripe of the stamping foil 3a. Since such stamping foils are commercially available not only in many colors but also in various widths, a corresponding foil is also available for each type width 10a. For this purpose, the embossing type 10a is of course fastened in an exchangeable manner in the embossing die 20.
In the block 11, an electrical heating foil 12 is embedded, shielded from the magnet 8, between insulating plates and gives the stamping die 10 the stamping temperature necessary for stamping.
In addition to the die 10, the block 11 is guided on the magnet 8 by means of two support pins 13 which reach into a bore 14 of the magnet base 9. A fuse, not shown, prevents the trunnions 13 from falling out of the bores 14, although the two helical springs 15, which are placed around the trunnions 13 and are supported on the one hand on the block 11 and on the other in the bore 14, endeavor to keep the block 11 with to press the die 10 in the direction of the material web 1.
Two drivers 16 protrude laterally on the die 10, between which one finger 18 of a pinion rack 17 is guided in a form-fitting manner, while the other finger 19 engages in the recess 5a provided on the lateral surface of the feed roller 5. Finally, the counter-pressure plate 20, which is arranged on the other side of the material web 1 and which absorbs the embossing pressure of the stamp 10, should also be mentioned.
The mode of operation of the embossing mechanism is as follows: The electromagnet 8 is connected to an electrical pulse generator known per se, which in turn detects the color or hole marks applied to the material web 1 in register spacing by means of a photocell or
scanned by mechanical sensors and controlled in such a way that the material web 1 comes to a standstill at the predetermined point in front of the die 10, while the electrical pulse simultaneously supplied to the magnet 8 de-energizes the magnet coil, so that the die 10 equipped with the correct embossing temperature along with it the block 11 snaps forward due to the force of the relaxing helical springs 15, the paint application touched by the raised embossing type 10a being detached from the film 3a with sharp contours and transferred to the material web 1.
So that the transfer is everywhere with the same pressure. goes, the material web 1 is assigned a counter-pressure plate 20 in the area of the die 10.
Immediately after the embossing process, the solenoid is energized again and pulls the die 10 with the block 11 against the force of the screw springs 15 back into the starting position. In this case, the fingers 18, 19 of the drive shaft 17 are rotated counterclockwise via the drivers 16, whereby a minimal feed movement of the feed roller 5 is achieved at the same time.
In order to achieve the best possible use of the embossing foil, this advance should not be greater than the height of the embossing types, so that on the foil strip above the feed roller 5 and on the take-up roller 7, one color punch-out is visible.
The preferential roller 5 is equipped with a freewheel that prevents it from making an opposite transport movement when the die 10 is fast forwarding.
The ready-to-install embossing unit is extremely simple and robust and guarantees a long service life because it is maintenance-free.
Within the scope of the invention, any changes can be made to the embossing mechanism; Thus, for example, the helical springs 15 can be dispensed with and a magnet can be used instead, which is combined with the other magnet to form a so-called reversing magnet, which effects the movements of the die 10 in both directions.
