Description
Flash butt welding machine The invention relates to a flash butt welding machine, e.g. for welding deep-drawn sheet metal half-shells, the deep-drawn edges of the half-shells being butt welded to one another and being able to form a hollow body.
Flash butt welding machines for this purpose essentially consist of a clamping electrode rigidly connected to the machine bed and a clamping electrode mounted on a sliding carriage. A drive organ causes the burning feed and the upsetting force. This results in the inadequacy that a bending moment acts on the slide guide in that the sliding slide lifts in the area of play that is inevitable for the moving parts. This lifting off, even if only by a few tenths of a millimeter, already has the effect that the weld section located above the upsetting force axis is less upset.
This in turn results in a reduced quality of the weld.
The invention overcomes this inadequacy in the manner described below: One electrode is rigidly connected to a pivotable arm. This movable arm is brought into the pivoted operating position by means of two straps of a toggle system. By swiveling in this electrode, it is brought into the welding position parallel to the feed electrode. In this closed position, the upsetting force is transmitted to the two tabs.
An embodiment of the invention is described with reference to the drawings.
1 shows the essential parts of a flash butt welding machine in a view and the welding position without a protective hood. The dash-dotted lines show the insertion or ejection position. FIG. 2 shows the same flash butt welding machine in view A from FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a section.
The machine frame 1 carries the adjustable, combined feed and compression unit 2. Furthermore, the welding transformer and essential parts of the electrical and hydropneumatic control are housed in the machine frame 1, but these are not visible in the drawings. The bearings 3 allow the adjustment of the electrode arm 4 in the vertical direction by radial adjustment of the eccentricity, while the adjustment of the bearing 5, the electro dentragende pole plate of the electrode arm 4 in the area surface of the eccentricity horizontally radial in an axis that intersects with the compressive force axis, adjusted can be. The electrodes 6 and 6 'are directed horizontally perpendicular to the plane of the drawing in FIG. 1 by loosening the screws 7.
With the now loose clamps 8, the electrodes 6 and 6 'can be moved in the direction of the swallow's tail profile. Thanks to these alignment options, the half-shells can be precisely aligned with one another in all three dimensions.
The presses 9 and 9 'operated with a pressure medium push their piston rods 18 through the pole pieces 4 and electrodes 6, 6', the free ends 17 of which are cut obliquely parallel to the electrodes 6, 6 'and provided with protruding, screwed-on washers 19. The protruding edges of the washers 19 are used to pull the workpieces 20 to the electrodes 6, 6 'when the piston rods 18 are withdrawn. In the present example, the clamping takes place on the inner edge of the hub hole of a workpiece 20.
The pivoting of the electrode arm 4 is transmitted via two tabs 11 and 11 '. These are parts of a toggle system. One ends of the tabs are mounted in the support of the pole piece, while the other ends are mounted in the toggle levers 12 and 12 '. The toggle levers 12 and 12 'are connected to the combined feed and compression unit 2 by means of pin bearings 14 and 14'. The toggle lever 12 'is actuated by means of the press 13. When the press 13 is advanced, the toggle lever 12 and 12 'rotates about the journal bearings 14 and 14'.
The tabs 10 and 10 'are pulled into a position in which the journal bearings 14 and 14' lie in one plane with the four end bearing points of the two tabs 11 and 11 '. The force acting axis of the combined feed and upsetting unit now also lies in this plane as the axis of symmetry. With the two knee levers 12 and 12 ', the two arms 15 and 15' are also connected and the spark guard 16 is attached to the latter. The spark protection hood 16 is only shown in the dot-dash position of the swiveled-out electrode arm 4 for better illustration. When the press 13 is delivered, this hood 16 is lowered over the electrodes 6 and 6 'and protects the operating personnel from the rain of sparks during the welding.
