Disposable injection syringe for mixtures
The invention relates to a disposable injection syringe for mixtures containing two drugs to be mixed immediately before injection and having a cylinder having a needle at one end and a lid at the other end, the cylinder being split in two by means of a piston , each one of the medicament-containing parts is divided, and wherein the piston has a check valve which allows a flow only in the direction from the lid to the needle.
When using such syringes, the doctor often withdraws the plunger to check whether he has hit the vein. The check valve can open and let air into the pressure side of the piston, whereby this air is later injected into the vein.
Such breakdowns must be prevented by all means, which is achieved according to the invention in that the side of the piston facing the cover has a recess and that a plug tightly enclosing the piston rod and fitting into the recess of the piston is provided near the cover. When the plunger is withdrawn all the way to the lid, the stopper penetrates into the recess and blocks the passage through the plunger, so that the non-return valve is rendered ineffective. Therefore, the plunger - after the medication has been mixed - will and can act as an ordinary injection plunger be moved forwards and backwards as desired without opening any passage through the piston.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown in longitudinal section.
The syringe has a round cylinder 1, which is provided on one side with a tightly closing lid 2. A lip-shaped sealing ring 3, which seals a piston rod 4 passing through the cover 2, is arranged in a recess in the cover 2. A finger button 5 is attached to the free end of the piston rod 4.
The inner end of the piston rod 4 carries a piston which has a central, disk-shaped part 6 made in one piece with the piston rod 4. The disk-shaped part 6 has through bores 7 arranged in a circle and is surrounded by a bell-shaped collar 8 made of soft and elastic material. A soft sealing ring 9, which cooperates with the inner surface of the cylinder 1, is also arranged in the collar 8. The end part of the collar 8 is provided with a central bore 10 which is arranged at a significant distance from the openings 7 of the piston part 6, which are in a circle. In the vicinity of the inner side of the cover 2, the piston rod 4 is surrounded by a stopper 12 made of rubber, which lies tightly against the piston rod 4.
The rubber stopper 12 fits into the recess of the piston and is retained therein by means of a pair of barbs 11 arranged on the piston rod 4.
The other end of the cylinder 1 has a closed end plate 13 provided with a thin membrane 14 in the middle. This end of the cylinder also carries a central part 15 which is provided on its outer side with barbs 16, the function of which will be described later. On the part 15 is a hole at its outer end with a vent: 18 provided sliding sleeve 17 is arranged. In this end of the sleeve, a needle 19 pointed at both ends is attached by gluing or pouring. The needle 19 is surrounded by a removable protective cover 20 for reasons of sterility.
The syringe shown is for single use and contains two medicines, e.g. B. a powder to the left of the piston and a liquid to the right of the piston. When the piston is moved to rec'nts, the check valve formed by the bores 7 and 10 and the collar 8 is opened so that the liquid on the right side of the piston flows through the piston and then with the one on the left side of the Piston located powder is mixed. When the piston reaches the cover 2, the stopper 12 will penetrate into the recess of the piston and be held back there by means of the barbs arranged on the piston rod 4. Now the sleeve 17 slides with the needle 19 to the right, whereby the pointed end of the needle 19 pierces the membrane 14.
The Schulz lid 20 is then removed and the syringe is then ready for use. The plunger is now pushed to the left and the two mixed herbs are injected through the needle 19 into the vein.
The injection can be stopped and the doctor can pull back on the plunger a little to see if blood is being drawn into the syringe. During this retraction of the piston, the plug 12 prevents the opening of the check valve in the piston and the admission of air into the pressure side of the piston.
The plug 12 described has a tapered outer side to prevent liquid from being trapped between the plug 12, the cylinder 1 and the underside of the piston when it is pulled all the way up to the cover 2.
The purpose of the barbs 16 is to prevent outward movement of the canister while an injection is being made. The vent hole 18 allows the air present in the hollow sleeve to escape when the sleeve 17 slides with respect to the part 15 to the right. Since the plug 12 rests tightly against the same around the piston rod 4, it will also prevent the piston rod 4 from being at the wrong time, e.g. B. is moved during storage of the syringe. With such a movement the two herbs could be partially mixed; however, it is very important that any mixing is prevented prior to the point at which the full contents of the syringe are to be used.
