Contact device for transmitting electrical currents between relatively rotatable conductors The invention relates to a Kontaktvorrich device for transmitting electrical currents between rela tively rotatable conductors, in which electrically conductive, mutually insulated disks are immersed in a liquid electrical conductor located in ring-shaped chambers.
Contact devices of the aforementioned type are known in which the chambers are provided for receiving the liquid electrical conductor in a housing made of electrically insulating material. On the housing there are connection terminals, one end of which protrudes into the associated chamber and as a result are in electrical contact with the liquid electrical conductor. In these contact devices, the capacitance between the individual contact elements assumes different values, since the shape of the ring that forms from liquid electrical conductor material changes depending on the position of the device and the speed of rotation.
This is undesirable in many cases, especially when the contact device is to be used for the transmission of high-frequency measurement currents. In addition, the known contact devices can generally only be used with a horizontal axis.
The invention is primarily based on the object to provide a contact device of the type mentioned above, in which the disadvantages of known devices are avoided.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the chambers (contact chambers) containing the liquid conductor each have a closed electrically conductive shield.
Here, the contact chambers themselves can be made of electrically conductive material.
In this way it can be achieved that the capacity between the individual contact elements remains constant regardless of the distribution of the liquid electrical conductor in the contact chambers.
The annular contact chambers expediently have a cross section such that each chamber, depending on the axial position of the device, receives and retains the liquid electrical conductor when the device is stationary. This gives the possibility of using the contact device in any position.
In particular, the cross-section of the con tact chambers can be enlarged on the peripheral side and narrowed on the axle side. In addition, the circumferential cross section of the contact disks is expediently enlarged such that the circumference of the contact disks engages in the enlarged cross section of the contact chambers.
It is recommended that the circumferential edge of the contact washers be approximately semicircular to the outside and that the inner circumference of the chamber be rounded accordingly hollow. This ensures a smooth flow of the contact medium, even at higher speeds.
It is also advantageous to arrange circumferential shielding disks between the contact points carrying the current. This eliminates inductive influences between the measuring circuits.
The device part carrying the contact disks is preferably designed as a hollow shaft. The hollow shaft can be plugged or flanged. In the latter case, the hollow shaft has a fastening flange at one end or at both ends.
The drawing illustrates a Ausführungsbei game of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows one longitudinal half of the Kontaktvorrich device in longitudinal section again schematically.
Fig. 2 shows a contact device with a hollow shaft for attachment to a measuring shaft in the longitudinal section.
Fig. 3 and 4 illustrate two further execution examples in longitudinal section.
In Fig. 1, 10 indicates a hollow shaft, wel surface with an electrically insulating coating 17 is seen ver. The contact disks 11, which are separated from one another by spacers 12 made of insulating material, are arranged on the hollow shaft 10. The cross section of the contact disk part 11b is reduced, while the cross section of the contact disk part is enlarged again on the circumference 11a.
With 13 separated by spacers 14 metal disks are designated. The spacers 14 consist of electrically insulating material. The metal disks 13 are made from parts 13a. and 13b composed. They contain the contact chambers, which have an annular part 15b that is narrowed in cross section and an outer part 15a that is enlarged in cross section. In the chambers there is a liquid elec tric conductor 16, for. B. mercury or gallium, in which the contact disks 11 are immersed, whereby the elec tric contact between the contact disks and the annular disks containing the contact chambers 13 is made forth.
The measurement current is reduced, for example, at the conductor terminals 50 indicated by dash-dotted lines; the conductors for the current to be measured are indicated by 51. They are located in a hollow shaft 10 and lead to the contact disks 11.
The cross-section of the contact chambers is dimensioned so that the liquid electrical conductor does not run out of the chamber even when the device is at a standstill, regardless of the axis position of the device.
In Fig. 1, for example, in the left contact chamber, the liquid level is indicated when the device is stationary - before the direction and horizontal axis position, in the middle with the rotating device and on the right when the device is stationary with a vertical axis position.
At the outer edge, the contact disks 11 are rounded. The outer edge of the contact chambers is rounded accordingly. The rounding ensures a steady flow of the contact medium even at high speeds. The availability 11b of the contact disks and the reduction of the gap llb of the contact chambers prevents the contact medium from escaping from the contact chambers, both when the contact device is in a vertical position and when the contact device is in shock and vibration.
The device can be used for the transmission of streams of any type. It can be used with particular advantage for the transmission of electrical measuring currents of high frequency, which can be influenced by different capacitance values between the contact elements. Since in the subject matter of the invention the external shapes of the shield between the contact chambers always remain the same, the capacities also remain constant. If inductive influences between the measuring currents are to be switched off, z. B. between tween two current-transmitting contact elements each Weil an additional contact element provided who the who is grounded.
2 shows an embodiment of the contact device with four contact points for transmitting the measuring currents influenced by strain gauges 22. The hollow shaft is designated by 20, which carries the contact disks 23, which are separated from one another by the spacers 28 made of electrically insulating material. The contact chambers are labeled 24. They are separated from one another by insulating spacers 28. The hollow shaft is provided with a layer 17 made of insulating plastic. 29 are end caps which receive the ball bearings 27 with which the outer part of the device is mounted on the hollow shaft 20.
25 are the existing connection terminals with the annular disks in connection, to which the lines 26 are connected. The lines 26 serve, for example, for the supply and discharge of high-frequency measurement currents.
In the hollow shaft 20, a measuring or test shaft 21 is used, the torque fluctuations, for example with the help of the stretch marks 22 who should be measured. The hollow shaft has an enlarged inside diameter part 20a into which the test shaft 21 is inserted with a collar 21a. A bore 21b can be provided in the collar 21a in the event that the measuring point is outside the hollow shaft 20. With a threaded hole for a grub screw is designated with 22 a, with which the measuring shaft 22 is fixed to the hollow shaft 20.
In the embodiment according to Fig. 3, the contact discs are arranged on a hollow shaft 30, de Ren one end 30a in which the contact chambers contained housing is located, while the other end of the hollow shaft is designed as a flange 30b which can be attached to any circumferential part can.
The contact device is built up modularly, d. H. If desired, more or fewer contact elements can be arranged next to one another so that a large number of currents can be transmitted, for example measured values for force, torque, work, power, speed, acceleration, temperature, hydrogen ion concentration, etc. Any other conceivable option is also possible Signals electronic scarf lines are transmitted, z. B. signals from Radaran or from television systems, even at different carrier frequencies.
The number of series-connected Kontaktele elements in a contact device cannot be increased at will because of the relatively narrow permissible length tolerances. This fact can be countered in that several closed contact devices are arranged one behind the other. For this purpose - as FIG. 4 shows - the hollow shaft 40 is provided at both ends with a flange 40a and 41, respectively. The flange 40a can e.g. B. with a rotating measuring shaft and the flange 41 can be connected to another contact device.
Any liquid with good electrical conductivity can be used as the contact medium that maintains the liquid state of aggregation in the temperature range in question. Preferably, mercury or gallium is used as the contact medium. It is essential that the chemical state of the contact medium is such that a chemical change in the contact material is largely avoided in the long run, both when it is at a standstill and when it is rotated slowly and quickly.
