Method for the incineration of sewage sludge using a fluidized bed furnace The invention relates to a method for the incineration of sewage sludge and for this purpose provides for the use of a so-called fluidized bed furnace.
In addition to urban sewage sludge, the term sewage sludge also includes water-containing industrial sludge, such as oil-water emulsions, fat-water emulsions, fiber-water mixtures, etc.
The aim of the process according to the invention is to destroy sewage sludge in a simple and inexpensive manner. For this purpose, the z. B. sewage sludge pre-dewatered through a filter or filter press is fed into a fluidized bed furnace and this is operated in such a way that the combustion of the material takes place outside the fluidized bed. The fluidized bed itself can be supported by its turbulent movement, preferably used as a drying and processing zone.
This can be achieved by coordinating some factors, which will be described below, in particular the size of the fluidized bed, the air flow below and above the bed and by preheating the lower air accordingly. With the relatively high proportion of water even after the pre-dewatering, it is important to adhere to a certain incineration sequence in the furnace and ultimately decisive for the furnace's performance.
It is also useful if the combustion process of the material dried in the bed and broken down and comminuted by the turbulent movement of the same begins, preferably immediately above the bed, as a certain part of the heat generated thereby flows into the bed and promotes drying. When starting the furnace or, if necessary, with a lower calorific value, the inflow of heat into the bed can be promoted by an oil burner, the flame of which is preferably directed towards the bed.
If the fluidized bed only acts as a drying and processing zone (crushing and mixing with air) - in contrast to the known methods in which the fluidized zone is used as a combustion zone, as has been determined, with complete burnout of the combustible sludge particles and a maximum Floor area performance, a minimum of air and additional fuel required.
In pursuit of the concept of the invention, by arranging a separate combustion chamber above or next to the fluidized bed furnace, the combustion can also take place in this separately from the fluidized bed furnace. The drying air, which is expediently warmed up before being blown into the fluidized bed, serves primarily as the conveying medium to a combustion chamber located further away, e.g. B. that of a steam boiler. Several sludges can then also be placed in this combustion chamber.
Dust lines from several fluidized bed furnaces open together, which results in the combination of a steam boiler with several fluidized bed furnaces.
In the implementation of the inventive concept it has been found on the basis of experiments that a certain division of the air supplied to the furnace brings special advantages. So it can be useful if about half of the air necessary in the furnace for perfect combustion is fed to the fluidized bed from underneath, while the remaining amount of air is blown into the furnace through nozzles that open into the furnace above the fluidized bed; Advantageously, the proportion of air under the wind can only be around 20 to 30% of the total amount of air.
This per se small amount of air flowing through the fluidized bed is only used for drying, processing and pre-ignition of the moist, caked sludge, which is dissolved in the form of dust. The volatile gases are driven out. In this mixture of dust and gases located above the actual fluidized bed, the main part of the amount of air is then blown at preferably high speed and the actual combustion is thereby achieved. In this area of the furnace the temperature can be above 800 ° C, i. H. it lies above the olfactory limit, which means that unpleasant smells are perfectly eliminated. The temperature of the fluidized bed can be around 500C.
For example, 20-30% of the total air in the fluidized bed can be supplied from below with a pressure of 450-600 mm water column and 80-70% of the total air can be blown in above the fluidized bed with a pressure of 200-300 mm water column.
Such a division of the amount of air results not only in terms of the required force - only relatively small amounts of air need to be blown in at a higher pressure - but above all in terms of the entire process sequence. Aside from a possible reduction in the inert fluidized mass (fluidized bed), this process has another special advantage.
The amount of air flowing through the bed is completely independent of the calorific value, ash content and water content, ie. H. this amount of air can be kept constant regardless of any change in calorific value. Changes in the calorific value or changes in the water content are only taken into account and compensated for by changing the upper air injection. This means that regulation and control can only be limited to the upper air injection, the lower one always remaining constant.
This solves the basic problem of fluidized bed combustion for sewage sludge, which up to now has primarily caused difficulties because the sewage sludge has very fluctuating calorific values and therefore the fluidizing state could not always be properly maintained if the air volumes in the bed had to change. If the amount of air flowing through the bed remains constant and the necessary amount of air is only regulated above the bed, the fluidization also remains normal and faultless. At the same time, it is no longer necessary to precisely dose the amount of sewage sludge entered. A higher floor area and volume loading than before can also be achieved.
If the incineration temperature above the bed should drop below 800 due to a particularly high water content of the sewage sludge or a low content of combustibles, which can easily be determined by temperature sensors, according to a further embodiment of the invention, an additional, temperature-controlled oil burner can be used to increase the temperature.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the nozzles provided below the fluidized bed for the entry of air into the bed can be designed differently in their exit cross-section, in particular shown that the exit cross-section becomes smaller towards the edges of the bed.
For example, three stages of nozzles, each distributed approximately in a ring in the fluidized bed floor, with the largest exit cross-section of each nozzle in the middle or on the innermost ring and the cross-section decreases from ring to ring outwards. The nozzles themselves can be designed as hole nozzles or slot nozzles.
If only a small amount of air is now required in the reactor, the air only flows through the nozzle or the nozzles with the large outlet cross-section or the lowest intrinsic pressure loss, depending on the nozzle design. As a result, only part of the bed, i.e. H. only the area of the bed above this nozzle or the nozzles is fluidized and the amount of air and sludge can be brought into the best stoichiometric ratio.
If more sludge is added or if the calorific value of the sludge increases, so that the air requirement is greater, more air is conveyed by the fan for the air supply, which is distributed over several nozzles according to the internal pressure losses of the nozzles, i.e. Due to the larger amount of air, more and more nozzles are flowed through from the inside to the outside. If, for example, only the innermost nozzle ring was previously flowed through, then with a corresponding increase in the air supply, the second ring or possibly even more is used to allow air to pass through.
Corresponding to the expansion of the air passage, the size of the fluidizing bed in the furnace also increases. If the bed fluidizes only in this area when air is supplied through the innermost ring alone, this area is increased by the corresponding amount, provided that the next one is also flowed through together with the innermost ring due to a larger air supply. The fan for the air inflow to the furnace can be regulated in a known manner by a C02 or OZ control of the exhaust gases.
Instead of the automatic control of the passage of air through the nozzles as a result of their intrinsic resistance, a flap control can of course also be provided, which can be operated automatically or manually from the outside. However, it is best to regulate the automatic control described above through the internal resistances of the nozzles in connection with a flap control. This means that the necessary combustion air is allocated to the fluidized bed in fine gradations according to the requirements and, at the same time, the fluidization zone is regulated accordingly.
The following is given as an exemplary embodiment of the process according to the invention: A sewage sludge fluidized bed furnace is charged with 1000 kg / h sewage sludge of the following composition: water content 65% ash content 16.3% combustible 18.7 Q /, lower calorific value 710 kcal / kg The fluidized bed is fed 3400 m3 / h of air at around 370 C, causing the fluidized bed to be fluidized. The sewage sludge introduced into the fluidized bed dries up, disintegrates and is discharged from the bed in dust form by the air flowing through the bed.
The air flows through the bed at a speed of approx. 1 m / sec, which entrains all dust particles smaller than 0.25 mm in diameter. Particles larger than about 0.25 mm remain in the hot bed until they have acquired the appropriate size due to the constant action of the hot bed grains, abrasion, bursting during drying, etc. The actual combustion of the sludge-air-gas mixture then takes place above the bed, with a flame temperature of around 850 C in the combustion chamber.
The flame radiates into the fluidized bed from above and, together with the heat brought in by the combustion air, keeps it at a temperature of around 500. The values given above are of course only valid for a sludge according to the stated composition. They differ upwards and downwards depending on the type of mud. Embodiments of a device for implementing the method are shown schematically in the drawing in section.
It shows: FIG. 1 a fluidized bed furnace with vertical sludge input; FIG. 2 shows a fluidized bed furnace with a side input, and FIG. 3 shows a special embodiment of a fluidized bed. The fluidized bed furnace (Fig. _1) consists of a cylindrical, ceramic-lined combustion chamber 1 with a clear diameter of about 1.20 m and about 1.70 m in length, which leads down to a cylinder 2 with a clear diameter of 0, 8 m and about 80 cm in length is drawn in.
The bottom 3 of the lower cylinder 2 is provided as a nozzle bottom with special Luftdü sen 4, through which preheated (about 370 C) combustion air flows in from a line 5. On the nozzle bottom 4 rests a 30-80 cm high, loosely poured layer 6 ceramic grains, which is brought and held by the combustion air in a suspended or vortex state. The combustion air is fed to the nozzles 4 under pressure, the amount of air determining the state of suspension or turbulence (fluidization).
Due to the fluidized state similar to a boiling liquid, the conditions prevail in the fluidized bed 6, which are necessary for the intensive mass and heat exchange, d. H. are necessary for drying and crushing the sewage sludge and for mixing with combustion air.
To preheat the reactor 1, 2 and the fluidized bed 6 and the fluidized air, an oil ignition and support burner 7 is arranged in the lower chamber 2 and such a burner 8 in the upper chamber 1.
The sewage sludge is drawn off with a screw 9 from a sludge bunker (not shown) above the reactor and conveyed into a downpipe 10 which hangs in the reactor combustion chamber 1 and opens about 1.0 m above the fluidized bed 6. The sewage sludge falls through the downpipe 10 into the hot, fluidizing fluidized bed 6, where it dries ge by the intense vortex movement of the ceramic grains and the hot fluidized air, crushed to dust fineness and intimately mixed with air and ignited. Above the we belbettes 6 a gaseous flame is created, which has a middle flame temperature of 800-950 C. This flame radiates into the fluidized bed and heats it up from above. The burned-out flue gases flow off through the gas duct 11.
The fluidized bed 6 flows, as FIG. 2 shows more clearly, from below from the space 12 through the nozzle bottom 3 about 20 a /, the total amount of air through the line 5. The remaining amount of air of about 807 passes through the nozzles 13 directly into the reactor 1 above the fluidized bed 6. A ring line 15 connected to the controllable supply line 14 supplies the individual nozzles 13 with air. The at the top of the reactor 1 provided discharge line 11 is used to draw off the flue gases. The temperature within the upper region of the reactor 1 is kept at over 800 ° C. by appropriate dosing of the Luftzu drove through the nozzles 13 and, if necessary, by the additional heating through the oil burner 16. The temperature in the fluidized bed is around 500.
The sludge input 10 is indicated here since Lich.
In the bottom 3 of the fluidized bed 6 according to FIG. 3, nozzles A, B and C of different sizes are arranged. The nozzle A sits centrally in the middle, while the nozzles B form a ring at a smaller distance and the nozzles C form a ring at a greater distance from the nozzle A. The greater the distance from nozzle A, the diameter decreases and the self-resistance of the nozzle increases.
With an air inflow only through the nozzle A, the bed is fluidized only in the area 6a. If the air inflow to chamber 12 increases, air passes through both nozzle A and nozzles B. The fluidization then also covers area 6b. The increase in the air inflow can be so great, depending on the required output of the furnace, until a passage through the nozzles C occurs and the bed is then fluidized in its entire area 6a, 6b and 6c.
