ticulier, l'excès indispensable du composé de formule H2NCIiR, tenant ce rôle ;
rification du produit Ënal I.
Exemple 1
On éva

ratuzte à 25-300, on agite encore pendant 2 heures à
lution aqueuse chlorhydrique.
Il est solide et fond vers

2) Préparation de
((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH2NHC (S) SNa.2H2O : on addi
demie à 25-300 ;
ensuite on agite encore pendant 3 heu

isoler ce sel ;

On agite encore pendant 2 heures à 20o, puis on filtre

Process for the preparation of novel 2siniidazolidinc-thionc N-phosphamides
The object of the present invention consists of a process for the preparation of new phosphamides of general formula I:
EMI1.1
in which R 1 and R 2 signify the alkyl residues,
low molecular weight alkylamno or dialkylamino, and X an oxygen or sulfur atom, and in which either the two R3s or only one of them means a hydrogen atom and the other a low alkyl radical molecular weight, characterized by the isomerization of an isothiocyanate of general formula II:
R1R2P (X) NHCHR3CHR3N = C = S II in which Rj, Rg, Rg and X have the meaning specified above.
A subject of the present invention is also the use of the novel phosphamides thus obtained as active agents for combating microorganisms harmful to plants.
The rest RfR2. (X) - preferably means the following groups:
(C2H5O) 2p (0) -, (C2H5O) sP (S) -,
C2H5O ((CH3) 2N) P (S) -, CHsO ((CHa) 2N) P (S) -,
((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) -,
C2H (5O ((C2H5) 2N) P (S) -,
((C2H3) 2N) 2P (S) -,
C2H50 (CH3NH) P (S) -.
The compound of formula II, also new, can
be prepared starting from a compound also new
calf of general formula III
R1R2P (X) NHCHR3CHR3NHC (S) S-T III
in which RjR2, R3 and X have the specified meaning
above, and in which T means one of the groups
ments-C (O) OC2H5, -C (O) OCH3, -C (O) C6H5, and
CH2OCH3 according to the equation
RiR2P (X) NHCHRsCHR3NHC (S) S-T -----
RtR2 (X) NHCHR3CHR3N = C = S + <TSH>
The isomerization of compound II can be accelerated,
either by heating or by the action of a base such that
caustic soda, pyridine or triethylamine, either
by the action of active rays,
either by putting into action
of several of the measures indicated. We can also go
of the product obtained by decomposing the compound
of formula III without isolating the compound of formula II which forms intermediately, to arrive directly, in a single operation, at the compound of formula I. These operations are preferably carried out at moderate temperatures and in the presence of a solvent such as methylene chloride, alcohol, pyridine or triethylamine.
The compound of formula III is easily obtained by the action, at a temperature between 00 and 500, preferably between 50 and 250, of a compound of formula
T-Cl in which T signifies one of the groups specified above and Cl signifies a chlorine atom, for example ethyl chloroformate, in solutions or suspensions in a solvent of the salt of general formula IV
RiR2P (X) NHCHR3CHR3NHC (S) S- Cation + IV in which Ri, R2 and R3 have the meaning specified above, and in which Cation + signifies a metal cation or an organic tertiary base quaternized by a proton,
for example sodium ion and triethyl lion
ammonium.
Salt IV, also new, is easily obtained by simultaneous or successive actions, at a tem
temperature between 10 and 500, preferably between
25p and 350, of carbon disulphide and of a base such as
NaOH or triethylamine on the compound of formula V RiRaP (X) NHCHRsCHRgNHsV in which Rl, R2 and R3 have the meaning specified above; the reaction is preferably carried out in solution
or suspended in a solvent.
The compound of formula V, also new, is obtained by the addition of an acid chloride (thiono) phos
phoric of formula RiR2P (X) Cl where Ri, R2, have the meaning specified above on a sufficient excess of
ethylenediamine of formula H2NCHR3CHR3NH2 where R3
has the meaning specified above, at a temperature
between 10 and 500, preferably between 200 and
350; it is not necessary here to use a solvent by
in particular, the essential excess of the compound of formula H2NCIiR, fulfilling this role;
the quantity used
of this ethylenediamine is 5 to 10 moles, preferably
contains 8 moles per mole of RtR2P (X) Cl. The compound of formula V is isolated from the reaction medium by dilution
with a solvent such as chloroform and removal of
the excess of the compound of formula H2NCHR3CHR3NH2 and
of its hydrochloride formed by the reaction, by extrac-
repeated tion by water.
Only a negligible amount of the compound of formula RtR2P (X) NHCHR3CHR3NHP (X) R2Rl is formed under these conditions, which does not interfere with the following steps.
boasts of synthesis and is eliminated during pu
Ënal I.
It has been observed that the different stages passing through
V, IV, III and II to end with I, can be done with
high efficiency, which eliminates the need for iso-
lement of intermediates V, IV, III and II; the active substances, of general formula I, can be prepared by
a direct synthesis, in a single series of operations, from (thiono) phosphoric acid chloride of formula RRP (X) Cl and from ethylenediamine of formula HHCHRgCHRgNHg, without isolating any of the intermediates.
Likewise, intermediates II respectively III and
IV can be prepared without isolating any of the internees.
diaries III resp. IV and V.
Compounds of formula I are generally solids at room temperature. They have a remarkable fungicidal action both on contact and systemic.
In addition, these active substances are only of very reduced toxicity vis-à-vis warm-blooded animals (LD50
on white rats over 1 g / kg). These facts lend themselves particularly well to combating plant diseases, such as powdery mildew.
For this purpose they can be used in powder coating
or as a spray, in the form of solutions or suspensions, in the presence or absence of organic solvents,
Ion the techniques commonly used in agriculture to fight against phytopathogenic microorganisms.

This same compound can be obtained directly from ((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH2NH2 which is suspended
in water and add carbon disulphide and
NaOH, as described above for the preparation of
((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH2NHC (S) SNa. 2H20, but without
isolate this salt;
its aqueous solution is directly processed
by the calculated amount of ethyl chlorofoTmiate, com
me it is specified above, and one proceeds to the isolation
of ((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH2NHC (S) SC (O) OC2H5, that
one obtains with a yield of 85% of the yield
theoretical.
4) Preparation of
((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH2N = C = S: 17.5 parts of
compound specified under 3) are dissolved in 170 parts
of dichloromethane, then heated to reflux for
75 hours. Then we evaporate in a vacuum. Residual syrup
thus obtained, corresponds to 12.3 parts of the isothiocya-

identical to active substance A of Example 1. Yield 95% of theoretical yield.
Example 3
34.4 parts of the salt of formula
((CH3) 2N) 2P (S) NHCH2CH. (S) SNa2H20 described in Example 1, under 2, are dissolved in 100 parts of water and added over half an hour to 15, 11 parts of ethyl chloroformate; the mixture is stirred for another 2 hours at 15 minutes, the insoluble product which has formed is extracted with dichloromethane, a sufficient excess of alcohol is added to the dichloromethane phase, then 5 to 15 parts of aqueous NaOH solution, then evaporated in vacuo and treat as described in Example 2. 21 parts of active substance A are thus obtained, with a yield of 84 O / o of the theoretical yield.
In this example, it is also possible to replace the 11 parts of ethyl chloroformate by respectively 8 parts of ClCH2OCH3 or 14 parts of CICOCgHg. We then obtain, by proceeding in the same way, 14 respectively 9 parts of the active substance A.
The following substance has been isolated as an intermediate from one of these reactions:

We can replace the. triethylamine taken in this synthesis by pyridine. It is also possible, with the same result, to use only 1 to 0.1 mole of these bases per mole of the isothiocyanate used by carrying out the reaction in alcohol.
Preparation of the starting material

This solution is heated for 5 minutes at 50-600, evaporated in the partial vacuum of the water pump, taken up in ice water and treated as described above in Example 4; 9 parts of the active substance B, described in Example 4, are obtained with a yield of 70% of the theoretical yield.
In this operation, it is possible to substitute triethylamine for pyridine and tetrahydrofuran or dioxane or dichloromethane for alcohol.
Preparation of starting material (C2H50) 2P (s) ECH2CH2NHC (S) SC (O) OC2H5
22 parts of ethyl chlorothionophosphate are added over the course of one and a half hours to 56 parts of ethylenediamine while stirring and keeping the whole at 20; when the addition is complete, the mixture is stirred for a further 1 hour at 300 and taken up in 500 parts of water; extraction is carried out 3 times with 120 parts of dichloromethane per time.
200 parts of water are added to the dichloromethane phase, then, while maintaining the temperature at 25-300, 7.6 parts of carbon disulphide are added on the one hand over half an hour and on the other hand. at the same time but extending the time of the addition over 1 hour and a half, 12.6 parts of the aqueous solution of NaOH. The mixture is further stirred for 1.5 hours at 300 and then cooled to 10, at which temperature is added over the course of one hour 10.9 parts of ethyl chloroformate.
After stirring at this same temperature for a time sufficient to complete the reaction, the mixture is separated, further extracted with dichloromethane, washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated to dryness in a water pump vacuum, at a temperature of the bath not exceeding 200. The residue consists of 35 parts of the compound of formula

Example 7
796 parts of C2H5O ((CH3) 2N3P (S) Cl are added over an hour and a half to 20-300 to 2040 parts of ethylenodiamine; after a subsequent stirring for 2 hours at 30O, the mixture is added to 10,000 parts of water and 5,000 parts of ice, then the solution is extracted 6 times with 1100 parts of chloroform each time.
The combined chloroform extracts are added with 600 parts of water and then with 304 parts of carbon disulphide in the space of half an hour while cooling slightly in a cold water bath so as to maintain the temperature of the medium at 250 ; a quarter of an hour after the start of the addition of the carbon disulphide, we begin to add 505 parts of aqueous NaOH solution, the introduction of which should last about one hour and a quarter while allowing the temperature to rise little by little from 25 to 300. The reaction is allowed to complete, then stirring for a further 1.5 hours while maintaining the temperature at 300 (which requires slight heating towards the end).
It is then cooled to 150, temperature which is maintained while adding 435 parts of ethyl chloroformate, over the course of half an hour and then stirring for a further 1.5 hours at 15, left to stand all for a few minutes and then separate the lower layer, chMoroformic. To the latter are added 1440 parts of ethanol and, with vigorous stirring, the amount of aqueous NaOH solution necessary to bring about a clear blue color of thymolphthalein, which amounts to approximately 650 parts of said solution.
Evaporated to dryness in a water pump vacuum and washed thoroughly with an excess of water; it is also possible to wash with a little isopropanol cooled to -10, before recrystallizing from 4200 parts of this solvent. 760 parts of product melting at 140.5 are obtained of formula

Example 8
796 parts of the compound of formula C2H50 ((CH3) 2N) P (S) CI are added to 2040 parts of ethylenediamine, after which the reaction product is extracted with chloroform, as described at the start of Example 7.
Then added to the chloroform solution, separately but simultaneously, by means of two funnels with a stopcock, 304 parts of carbon disulphide in the space of half an hour and 404 parts of triethylamine in the space of one. hour, maintaining the temperature at 25O (for half an hour) then stirred for another hour at 300 and then cooled to 15, temperature which is maintained for half an hour while adding 434 parts of ethyl chloroformate. Stirred for another 1.5 hours at 15. Then 1600 parts of ethanol and 950 parts of aqueous NaOH solution are added.
It is evaporated to dryness and the active substance E, identical to that of Example 7. It is found that this final product can also be recrystallized from 6000 parts of carbon tetrachloride.
This gives 745 parts of the product melting at
140.50 with a yield of 69.5 O / o relative to C2H50 ((CH3) 2N) P (S) C1 or 73.5 / 0 relative to carbon disulphide and ethyl chloroformate.
By similar or analogous processes were further prepared the active substances of the general formula I listed in the table (page 6)
Concentrated emulsions and wettable powders containing 25% active substances were prepared.
A and L. The clear syrups obtained, respectively the fine powders, can be diluted in any proportion with water to give a finely divided dispersion or an emulsion or even a clear solution. These kinds of aqueous application are particularly suitable for the preferred systemic use.
These emulsions respectively these dispersions are prepared for example as follows:
12.5 g of substance F are dissolved in 25 g of water and added with 12.5 g of an emulsifier based on polyethers of the polyethylene glycol type.
12.5 g of substance E are dissolved in 33 g of cydlahexanone and added to 5.5 g of an emulsifier based on a mixture of dodecylbenzènesnifonate and a polyethylene glycolic ether derived from isooctylphenol.
Likewise, concentrates can be prepared with substances A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L.
25 g of substance A are mixed (very finely in a ball mill) with celite and a disperser of the dinaphthylmethane sulfonate type. A wettable powder which is finely dispersible in water is thus obtained.
An identical preparation can be prepared with the active substances B to L.
These preparations were applied in the form of aqueous suspensions at 0.2,0.1 and 0.05 / o of active substance and tested for their activity as described below in Examples I, II and III.
Example 1
Contact action: young winter barley seed pieces (Hauter variety) are immersed in these suspensions (without wetting the pots and the underground parts of the plant); it is then left to dry for 4 hours and then sprayed on each plant with conidia of the Sucker (Erysiphe graminis). The plants are left in the greenhouse for 5 days and then the degree of attack of the fungi on the infested leaves is evaluated.
With the active substances B, D, E, F, G and K, the prophylactic action is very good; even with the fungicidal spray concentration of 0.05 O / o, there is only a barely noticeable attack on a few single leaves.
Identical tests were carried out on young plants (in pots of beans, vines and celery, by artificially contaminating with spores of, respectively, bean rust (Uromyces phaseoli), downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and celery septoria (Septoria apii) The fungicidal effect with substances A, E, H, J and L is excellent on beans and vines, good on celery.

It is waited 24 hours, then the plants are sprayed with conidia of the Cereal Sucker and the procedure is as described in Example I.
It can be seen that with substances C, E, H, J and L at least half of the leaves are free from any trace of attack; the Leaf Test shows only slight signs of disease. The leaves of the control plants, untreated, are completely covered with

Example 111
Apple trees, taken from seeds and placed in pots in a greenhouse - which had been cut in autumn to 10 15 cm - showing a spontaneous attack of Oidium, are treated from mid-April by spraying with a gun until dripping , with an aqueous suspension prepared as above, containing 0.1 O / o of the active substance A.
At the first treatment (17.4.64) the subject is at the budding stage; at the second treatment (21.4.64) the leaves are 2 cm long; at the third treatment (29.4.64) they are 3-4 cm. Six days after the third treatment, the control shows the practically total absence of disease, while the witnesses are very ill.
After six treatments, 8 days after the last treatment (30.5.64), the disease is only very little developed; the plants show no effects which could result from the phytotoxicity of compounds A to L and the length of the main shoots is twice the glue of untreated plants. It is a curative action which is recorded here.
