Fig. 1: die Seitenansicht einer Tiefziehtrommel im Schnitt,
Method for molding pocket-like depressions in a film made of thermoplastic plastic
A known method for producing deep-drawn packs consists in guiding a film made of thermoplastic material over a rotating drum which is provided with trough-shaped recesses and serves as a die and which takes the film with it. The individual recesses of the drum are periodically exposed to a negative pressure via channels, which causes the parts of the film located above the recesses to be sucked into the recesses, so that pocket-like recesses are created in the film.
These recesses are then filled with solid substances in tablet or dragee form or with liquid substances via a special transfer device, then a cover film is sealed on and the individual packs are then separated.
In a known machine for producing deep-drawn packs of the type described, the individual work stations (evacuation, filling, sealing of the cover film, cutting) lie next to one another in the direction of the film withdrawal. This requires a considerable spatial expansion of the machine, combined with considerable effort.
The object of the present invention was to create more favorable conditions both in terms of space and in terms of costs. This goal is achieved by a method in which, according to the invention, the film in the run-up area on the deep-drawing drum is briefly exposed to an effective heat gradient between an external heat source and the drum, the gradient of which is determined by the stored heat of the drum, which it continuously passes over the heat-locked film and in which the film is also evacuated after reaching the plastic state in the area of the recesses and then cooled, the duration of these work processes and their intensity being selected so
that the mechanical strength of the film section in question is already large enough after reaching the apex area of the deep-drawing drum to hold solid pieces of product and to subsequently seal on a cover film.
It has proven to be advantageous to support the evacuation process by a pressure exerted from the outside on the film in the area of the recesses in the drum, which pressure can be applied, for example, by means of blown air.
An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which schematically shows an apparatus for performing the method.
Show it:
Fig. 1: the side view of a deep-drawing drum in section,
FIG. 2: a view of the drum along section AB through FIG. 1.
As shown in FIG. 1 in particular, the deep-drawing drum 2, which is rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis 1, is preceded by a deflection roller 3 for the film 4 running off a supply roll, not shown, so that the film running onto the drum is already in the area of the lower drum half On the drum. A heat source in the form of a hot air blower 5, which extends over part of the drum circumference and is adapted to the curvature of the drum, is attached somewhat above the point where the film runs onto the drum. In order to prevent premature softening of the film, it may be necessary to provide the film with thermal protection, which is to be applied in front of the blower as seen in the run-up direction of the tape.
A blown air duct 6 is arranged upstream of the blower 5 in the circumferential direction of the drum, which duct runs radially to the drum axis and acts on the trough-shaped recesses 7 in the drum, which lie next to one another. At the level of the apex of the drum, a transfer device 8 for tablets 9 is attached, which can be operated manually or works automatically. A cover 10 is provided so that the tablets located in the recesses maintain their position. The cover 10 is followed by a sealing roller 11, which seals the cover film 12 onto the deep-drawn film filled with tablets.
As FIG. 2 shows in particular, channels 13 open into the recesses 7 of the drum, each of which is connected to a channel 14 which, as a result of the rotation of the drum, periodically coincides with the valve slot 15 in the stationary part 16, so that during this Time the vacuum is effective.
The one used for supplying compressed air for blowing out the packing and cooling the drum, shown in Fig.
1 longitudinal slot 17 drawn in dashed lines is also periodically swept over by the channels 14. A perforated cooling pipe 18 is guided into the interior of the drum for additional cooling of the drum.
The device described results in the following mode of operation:
The film 4, guided over the deflection roller 3 and running onto the drum 2 from below, initially comes under the influence of the hot air given off by the fan 5. This heats up the film and, via the film, the drum, which extracts heat from the film.
If the film has reached the plastic state, it is then placed under the influence of a vacuum. This has the consequence that the film parts lying in the area of the recesses 7 are sucked into the relevant recesses. This effect is now further supported by blown air, which is supplied via channel 6.
When the relevant recess groups arrive under the feed device 8, the film sections have already cooled down enough that solid substances such as tablets and dragees, powder, granules or even liquid substances can be introduced into the pocket-like depressions of the film. When the filling process has ended, the film sections arrive at the sealing station, at which the cover film 12, which consists for example of coated aluminum, is sealed on by means of the roller 11. The filled and sealed film web is then ejected and, finally, pack sections of a certain length are separated.
