Fig. 10 zeigt eine Variante der Einrichtung gemäss Fig. B.
Device for reducing the voltage fluctuations when a variable consumer is connected to a single-phase or multi-phase network The invention relates to a device for reducing the voltage fluctuations when a variable consumer is connected to a single-phase or multi-phase network.
In principle, current fluctuations at a supply transformer, which cause voltage fluctuations, can be quickly absorbed by saturable inductors with a very flat characteristic, but such inductors must be connected in series with capacitors: on the one hand, a sufficiently flat characteristic and, on the other hand, a Sufficiently high amplitude of the voltage fluctuation is achieved.
The present invention provides a much simpler facility in the feed network.
The device according to the invention is characterized by a choke coil which reaches saturation during operation and which has at least one inductive main winding: which is connected to the supply network in such a way that the choke coil forms an additional consumer to the variable consumer, further characterized: by inductive Medium:
for electrical or magnetic coupling of said inductor with the consumer in such a way that the inductor is influenced depending on the fluctuations in the load current of the consumer, said coupling being selected so that the inductor counteracts the fluctuations in the load currents from the network to keep the supplied current practically constant.
Some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing. 1 and 2 are circuit diagrams of devices for reducing voltage fluctuations in small arc furnaces, FIGS. 3 and 4 show details of a modified device for large arc furnaces, FIGS. 5 to 11 show the circuit diagrams of seven further exemplary embodiments.
In FIG. 1, an electric arc furnace 1 is shown, which is fed from a three-phase network 2 via a transformer 3.
This transformer 3 has a star-connected primary winding 4 which is connected to the mains and a secondary winding 5 which is connected to the electrodes of the furnace 1. The arrangement also has inductive means R, which consist of three windings 6, each winding being connected in series with a phase of the primary winding 4 between the transformer and the supply network.
Each winding 6 is provided with a tap and three star-connected windings W of a saturable choke coil 7 are connected between the taps and the star point of the primary winding.
The inductive means R connect the saturable choke coil 7 with the transformer 3, the tapping points on the windings 6 being selected so that when current fluctuations occur on the transformer 3, as a result of interruptions in the arc, a voltage fluctuation across the windings:
the saturable choke coil 7 is achieved and this voltage fluctuation is sufficient in size to saturate the choke coil without any delay, whereby current fluctuations at the transformer are absorbed by the saturable choke coil.
It can be seen that: the device which is effective for reducing voltage fluctuations is very simple, since the choke coil 7 is not connected to either secondary windings or series capacitors.
The second embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is in principle similar to that according to FIG. 1, but the windings W are arranged in a primary delta connection in this case.
In the case of very large furnaces, however, the leakage reactance of the transformer is so large that: outer choke coils, such as the choke coils 6, are not required.
In this case it is necessary to attach a special winding in such a position between the secondary winding and the primary winding of the transformer 3 that the effect corresponds to that which it would maintain,
if a considerable part of the transformer's leakage reactance were outside of the transformer and equivalent to the windings of FIGS. 1 and 2.
The arrangement of such a special winding or intermediate winding would. in practice, it depends on the construction of the furnace transformer and can take various forms.
Such an arrangement is shown in Fig. 3, which illustrates in detail a section through part of the transformer 3, wherein the winding 8 is located between the primary winding 4 and the secondary winding 5, and the windings 8 and 4 are arranged so that they deliver the largest possible leakage reactance.
The windings 8 and 5 are preferably pierced with paper so that the leakage reactance between these windings is kept to a minimum.
4 shows the electrical connections for a unit which has been selected to be single-phase for the sake of simplicity, but which can also be multi-phase.
4, the winding W is switched in series with the intermediate winding 8 to the supply network 2. The primary winding 4 is ver connected to the network 2, while the secondary winding 5 is connected to the electrodes of the furnace. This circuit will be explained in more detail with reference to FIG. It can be seen that it can be used in the devices according to FIGS. 10 and 11.
An advantage of the proposed device is that the considerable reactance in series with the windings W,
the saturable Droh selspule prevents the generation of harmonics of excessive amplitude by the choke coil 7. The generated harmonics are probably of the order of magnitude of the harmonics caused by the arc furnace.
On the other hand, it can be advantageous to use isotropic steel because this allows the saturable choke coils to be connected at a greater distance from the furnace, so that the stability of the arc is maintained. disturb less.
In certain applications, the saturable reactors can increase the risk of arcing. This risk can be reduced to the smallest possible level by superimposing the mains frequency with a high-frequency oscillation to deliver the necessary ignition voltage, at any time similar to some arc welding methods.
The circuit according to FIG. 5 corresponds essentially to that according to FIG. 1, but it is single-phase. In this circuit, a consumer, e.g. B. a light bogeno.fen fed via the transformer 3 from the supply network 2.
The winding 6 of a choke coil R with an air gap is connected in series with the primary winding 4 GE and the winding W of the saturable Dros selspule 7 is switched by a switch 11 between a power terminal and a tap of the winding 6 ge. The transformer 3 has a primary winding 4 and a secondary winding 5 which is connected to the Ofenelek electrodes.
The tap on the winding 6, which can be set to optimal coordination by tap switching, is selected so that the voltage across the winding W follows the fluctuations in the load without delay and consequently the current fluctuations on the transformer 3 absorbed.
Under the conditions mentioned, the winding 6 is in proportion
EMI0002.0099
zpaft, it can be shown that the voltage across .the saturable choke coil 7 is determined by: E2 = El - (1-n) (Ei - Es) or
EMI0002.0105
where El is the mains voltage, E2 is the voltage across the saturable choke coil and Es is the primary voltage of the transformer.
This shows that the voltage at the winding W of the saturable choke coil 7 to meet the condition for suppressing voltage fluctuations from the mains voltage and the transformer voltage can be obtained without the need for the windings 6 with taps.
This is particularly advantageous when high loads make the use of choke coils with taps impractical due to the large leakage reactance of the transformer 3.
A variant for evaluating this result is shown in FIG. 6, a single-phase circuit having been selected for the sake of simplicity. In practice, this device can also be used for a three-phase circuit.
In Fig. 6 the saturable, practicable choke coil 7 is connected in series with the secondary winding of the transformer 12, the primary winding of which is connected to the load 1, the transformer forming the inductive means R, which the saturable choke "coil 7 with the primary winding : the transformer 3 couples for the purpose of absorbing current fluctuations.
The transformation ratio of the transformer 3 is
EMI0002.0137
and consequently the output voltage of this transformer is
EMI0002.0139
where El, denotes the voltage at the consumer and n. shows the numerical value assigned to it.
It follows that the voltage across the saturable inductor in this case is denoted by:
EMI0002.0146
This means that: the conditions for an optimal reduction in voltage fluctuations can be met.
This requires that the working point of the choke coil is at the knee of the saturation characteristic when Es = 0, i.e. H. if the electrode of the furnace is short-circuited and that the time constant of the saturable choke coil is less than 10 ms. Some additional resistors can be provided, if necessary, in series with the saturable choke coil.
7 shows a different circuit using the same principle, but the saturable choke coil 7 is tuned by superimposing fluxes in the choke coil instead of superimposing voltages at the choke coil. In this circuit, the choke coil 7 has a three-leg saturable core; one leg carries a winding 15 which forms the inductive means R which connect the choke coil to the consumer 1; another leg carries a winding W, connected to the network in parallel with the consumer.
The number of turns of these windings is chosen so that the resulting flux in the third leg of the core is proportional to the following value:
EMI0003.0008
A compensating winding 17 in a delta connection is provided which connects all three legs of the core miteinan the. This is for the purpose of avoiding large magnetic forces between the core yokes, which could cause excessive losses in the choke coil.
Fig. 8 shows another circuit similar to that of Fig. 7, but with some modifications. Instead of a separate feed transformer, a composite transformer 37 is used, which forms the transformer 3 and the saturable inductor 7. The consumer 1 is fed by a winding 18 which is mounted on one leg of the inductor and forms the secondary winding of the transformer. The winding (W) 19 is mounted on the same leg and connected to the supply network. The winding 19 ens corresponds to the winding W and at the same time it forms the primary winding of the transformer in FIG. 7.
On the second leg there is the winding 15, which is connected to the consumer 1 and which corresponds to the winding 15 in FIG. In this case, the compensation winding 17 is not a delta connection, but a simple winding which includes all three core legs.
FIG. 9 shows a three-phase device which is otherwise identical to the device according to FIG. 7. There are three separate saturable cores used, one core for each phase.
All of the facilities as described above with reference to Figures 5-8 can be modified for use in a three phase system.
When used in electric arc furnaces, it is possible to produce a voltage of higher frequency for the convenient ignition of extinguished arcs by evaluating the harmonics developed by the saturable choke coil. Mathematical analysis of the circuits shows that there is a flat saturation characteristic, which leads to a high draw-off ratio
EMI0003.0030
leads to a maximum distortion of the stress waves and vice versa.
With a flat saturation characteristic, the harmonic voltages generated can be used advantageously for: the generation of a very large harmonic voltage with the electric arc furnace open. However, there is a need to keep the voltage on the busbars of the supply network as sinusoidal as possible by means of harmonic Fil tern, which are mounted on the rails mentioned.
Under the conditions mentioned, the voltage at the section through which the current of the upper pups flows when the electric arc furnace circuit is open becomes the ratio
EMI0003.0043
multiplied, where n is the original value.
In this way, a high voltage of high frequency can be generated in the open circuit of the electric arc furnace without the use of HF generators.
A great advantage of the device according to the invention when applied to electric arc furnaces is that the total current drawn from the network is practically constant both when the arc is present and when the arc is extinguished.
As a result, it is possible to correct the power factor down to minor fluctuations by means of a fixed capacitor connected to the supply network or to the saturable choke coil, and said capacitor can, if necessary, be connected to filters in order to eliminate harmful harmonics.
This feature is also very advantageous for arc welding systems in which it is difficult to carry out an individual HF correction due to the high fluctuations in the load.
Fig. 10 shows a variant of the device according to Fig. B.
Fig. 10 shows a consumer 1, z. B. a single-phase arc furnace which is fed from network 2 via a transformer 37. The core of this transformer is a shell construction and consists of a main leg for the power flow 20, a leg 21 for shifting the power flow and a non-saturated member 22, which has two parts that are arranged on both sides of the legs 20 and 21 . Member 22 provides a return path for the unsaturated flow.
The primary winding W 19 and the secondary winding 18 of the transformer comprise the main limb 20 and the limb 21. Another additional winding 15 only comprises the limb 21 and this winding is connected to the consumer 1.
It can be seen that this device is very similar to that according to FIG. 8, but has a different transformer construction with a different arrangement of the windings. In this embodiment there is no need for a compensating winding because the flux is concentrated in the same leg both in the short circuit and when the circuit is open, while the yoke and the link for returning the flux remain unsaturated.
The most important feature of this embodiment is that the flow in leg 21 is opposite to the flow in leg 20, so that with total flow through legs 20 and 21, which is determined by the voltage of the supply network, the application of a flux shift voltage: am Leg 21 causes the saturation of the leg 20; when the flux displacement stress derived from the arc is large.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 11, the load 1 is fed from a three-phase network 2 via the transformer 37. The transformer 37 has three pairs of legs 20 and 21, each pair corresponding to a phase.
As in the embodiment according to FIG. 10, each phase of the primary winding 19 includes both legs, while the additional windings 15 only include the leg 21 and are connected to the consumer 1.
This device is three-phase and corresponds to the one according to FIG. 10, with the difference that the unsaturated return path for the flow supplied by each phase is formed by the legs that interact with the other two phases.
In the event of a short circuit, the flux in the legs 21 is zero and consequently the transformer works as a conventional three-phase transformer. When the circuit is open, however, the windings 15 reverse the flux in the legs 21, and since the total flux must remain the same as the flow caused by the primary winding, the legs carrying the main flux are saturated.
Although the device according to the invention has been described as being applied to electric arc furnaces, it is evident that it can be applied just as well to welding systems for which the embodiment according to FIG. 11 is particularly suitable.
