Process for the preparation of heterocyclic magnesium chloride complexes
The main patent relates to a process for the preparation of heterocyclic Magnesiumchloridkom complexes by reacting a heterocyclic chloride which contains oxygen, sulfur and / or tertiary oxygen in its core, dissolved in a tetra or
Pentamethylene oxide, which is optionally substituted
May carry alkyl radicals, but at least one of the C atoms adjacent to the oxygen atom in the tetra- or pentamethylene oxide ring is free of substituents, reacts with magnesium.
Heterocyclic chlorides of this type, which have aromatic or pseudoaromatic characteristics, are relatively inert to magnesium and, according to the process of the main patent, it was not possible to form heterocyclic magnesium chloride complexes from them by means of the usual Grignard reaction.
It has been shown that good results are also obtained with the following groups:
Pyridazine, pyrazine, pyrimidine and triazine compounds such as:

The hydrogen atoms of the heterocyclic chlorides used in this process can be replaced by various radicals.
The length and size of the radicals that cause the
Can replace hydrogen of the heterocyclic ring or the heterocyclic rings are not critical, since they are not reactive under the process conditions after the labeling with the reactants or reaction products. However, with the currently available substances it is not intended that
Hydrocarbon chains with more than 30 carbon atoms are used as substituting groups.
The inventive method for the preparation of heterocyclic magnesium chloride complex compounds is characterized in that one
Chloride of a pyridazine, pyrazine or triazine with a tetra or pentamethylene oxide, which can optionally carry substituted alkyl radicals, but at least one of the oxygen atom in the tetra or
Pentamethylene oxide ring free of neighboring carbon atoms
Is substituents, and reacts with magnesium.
In the present invention, procedures analogous to those mentioned in the main patent can be used. One embodiment consists e.g. B. in that one dissolves a small amount of the heterocyclic chloride in the tetra- or pentamethylene oxide, this mixture is reacted with magnesium and slowly after the start of the reaction, the rest of the heterocyclic chloride is added. In general, it is advantageous to employ excessive amounts of the oxide compound in the process (more than the theoretical 2 [or 1] moles required for complex formation).
The excess serves as a solvent. However, such excess amounts do not need to be used and an excess of chloride can also serve as a solvent.
Another way of working is to use an inert hydrocarbon as a diluent. The reaction mixture is preferably stirred and an inert atmosphere, for example nitrogen, which is cheapest, is maintained during the course of the reaction.
The following experimental standard procedure was used in the following examples. Where the conditions deviate from this standard procedure, this is noted in the description of the experiment:
One gram atom (24.3 g) of magnesium turnings was placed in a 1000 cc three-necked flask which was then purged with nitrogen. In another flask, a mixture of one mole of the heterocyclic chloride was dissolved in 216.0 g of tetrahydrofuran. 10 cc of this mixture were then added to the batch in the three-necked flask and the reaction was initiated by adding 2 cc of ethyl bromide and a small crystal of iodine. After the start of the reaction, the remaining heterocyclic chloride-tetrahydrofuran mixture was slowly added to the three-necked flask with constant stirring.
Usually the formation of the heterocyclic magnesium chloride is exothermic. If necessary, external heating of the flask was used to keep the reaction progressing under reflux and / or to complete it. After the completion of the reaction, the product was titrated by the standard Gilman test to determine the yield of heterocyclic magnesium chloride.
Example 1 x, x ', x "-Trichloropyrimidylmaguesium chloride
30 g (0.138 mol) of 2,4,5,6-tetrachloropyrimidine was dissolved in 36 g (0.5 mol) of tetrahydrofuran. 3.35 g (0.138 mol) of magnesium turnings and a crystal of iodine were placed in the three-necked flask. External heating was used at the beginning of the reaction and this was removed as soon as it was noticed that the reaction was exothermic. The reaction was over after 1 hour. The yield of x, x ', x "-trichloropyrimidyl magnesium chloride was 37.8%.
Example 2 2,4,6-Trichloropyrimidine
30 g of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine were dissolved in 36 g of tetrahydrofuran. This mixture was slowly added to 4 g of magnesium turnings and the reaction was initiated. The reaction mixture was refluxed at about 70 for 1 hour. A yield of 12.1 o / o of the Griguard-2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine was obtained.
Example 3 2,4,5,6-Tetrachloropyrimidine according to Grignard
30 g of 2,4,5,6-tetrachloropyrimidine were dissolved in 36 g of tetrahydrofuran. This mixture was slowly added to 3.5 g of magnesium turnings and the reaction was initiated. The reaction mixture was refluxed for 1 hour until the magnesium was consumed and 2, 4, 5, 6-tetrachloropyrimidine Grignard was formed.
Example 4
2-octylpyridaz-5-ylmagnesium chloride
1 mol of 5-chloro-2-octylpyridazine in 3 mol of tetrahydropyran gave 2-octylpyridaz-5-ylmagnesium chloride according to the procedure of Example 10 of the main patent.
Example 5 5-Hexylpyrazinyl-2-magnesium chloride
1 mole of 3-chloro 5-hexylpyrazine in 3 moles of 2-methyltetrahydrofuran gave 5-hexylpyrazinyl-2-magnesium chloride according to the procedure of Example 10 of the main patent.
The heterocyclic magnesium chloride complexes are useful as chemical intermediates in the production of organic compounds. The complex can be destroyed, producing the heterocyclic magnesium chlorides, which are also suitable for various industrial purposes.
The heterocyclic magnesium chlorides are used as transesterification catalysts in the production of polyesters, with diesters of a dicarboxylic acid and polyhydroxy compounds being condensed. The polyesters thus formed are used for spinning valuable fibers. The present heterocyclic magnesium chlorides are also used as Claissen condensation catalysts and for the polymerization of ethylene to polyethylene. The latter are widely used in the packaging industry as a film or in sheet form.
