Device for reducing the shooting noise of firearms Shooting with rifles etc. causes a lot of noise, particularly that of assault rifles exceeds the tolerable level in the long run. In a large number of communities, the residential buildings are moving ever closer to the shooting ranges, so that complaints are increasing in many places and have already led to time restrictions for shooting.
Relocating shooting ranges is usually out of the question because of the high costs involved. It is known per se to provide firearms with mounted noise suppressors. However, these are not permitted for normal target practice.
The invention now relates to a device for reducing the shooting noise of firearms, which can be used inside and outside the shooting range. According to the invention, the same is characterized in that in the vicinity of the muzzle of the barrel of the firearm there is a stationary sound-absorbing unit, independent of the latter, with a sound absorption channel directed forward away from the muzzle of the weapon and not hindering the target view, the latter being designed in such a way that
that the firearm can be pivoted within certain limits for the purpose of executing target movements.
In the drawing, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown, namely: FIG. 1 shows a side view of a first embodiment of the device at the shooting position, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of FIG. 1 and FIGS. 3 to 5 three examples of suitable profiles the sound absorber.
1 denotes a sound absorber that is independent and stationary in relation to the firearm, which acts as a hollow body and which has a firing channel 2 that tapers conically from the rear to the front. The hollow body can be arranged on the front 3 'of the berth 3 of the shooter by means of a holder (not shown in particular), as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2.
4 is the support bracket for the rifle 5, the mouth 5 'of which is brought approximately into the axis of the firing channel 2 and protrudes about 5-10 cm into the opening of the firing channel 2 from behind. The front width of the firing channel 2 is so large that when shooting at a target, e.g. B. discs, the target area delimited by the lines 6 in the various pivot positions of the rifle 5 within the muzzle edge of the firing channel 2.
The sound energy generated with a shot is respectively from the sound absorber. the hollow body largely caught and largely destroyed. The sound energy pushing forward is compressed and loses its power, so that it reaches the areas in the direction of the shot in a weakened manner. The sound energy moving backwards, on the other hand, is swallowed up when it hits the inner walls of the hollow body, partly deflected and thus insulated.
According to FIG. 4, the sound absorber 1 'is frustoconical, whereas the sound absorber 1 "is truncated pyramidal (FIG. 5).
The firing channel can also have a cylindrical, prismatic, oval, elliptical or other suitable cross section.
The sound absorber does not necessarily have to be a hollow body, it could be open on one or both sides. A U-cross section of the sound absorber is conceivable. Furthermore, the firing channel could simply lie between two walls that are spaced apart and open at the top and bottom. However, the height of these walls would have to be greater than that of a closed hollow body. A reduction in the shooting noise occurs even if hollow bodies are not closed all around.
The wall of the sound absorber can consist of one or more layers made of different materials, such as wood, metal or plastic. This can also be closed, perforated or broken on the inside or be designed as a resonance housing. The wall of the hollow body can also have one or more insulating layers made of fiber or foam.
The device described is also suitable for other hand weapons and other firearms. In addition, the hollow body can be combined with a cartridge catcher on the side facing the rifle.

As a result of the described subject matter of the invention, part of the sound energy is destroyed directly at the point of origin, while the freedom of movement of the firearm when aiming and the view of the shooter when firing are not hindered.
