L'invention comprend également une installation pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé, installation caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte des moyens pour façonner en continu, par extrusion, un tube en matière plastique, des moyens pour couper ce tube selon une génératrice, pour le développer en une bande, et pour amener cette bande alors qu'elle est encore à l'état déformable, à se déplacer parallèlement à une chaîne sans fin progressant à la même vitesse que la bande, cette chaîne comportant une série de moules ouvrants comportant chacun une embase creuse présentant un évidement comprenant un fond mobile refouleur;

and hollow body obtained by said process
Methods and their means of implementation for the automatic molding of hollow plastic bodies are known. It appeared from the study of the conditions of implementation of these methods that improvements could be made to improve both the continuous molding process and the means of implementation and the products obtained.
According to the process which is the subject of the invention, in order to continuously manufacture hollow bodies molded from a sheet of plastic material, a plastic tube is continuously shaped, by extrusion, which is cut along a generator line and developed. to constitute a band, this band is moved while it is still in the deformable state, parallel to an endless chain progressing at the same speed as the band and formed of a series of molds each comprising a hollow base having a recess having a mobile delivery bottom, the strip is applied to the mouth of the successive molds before deforming the strip of plastic material to bring it to line the inner walls of each mold and to cover the delivery base with the 'base then in lowered position,
the push-up base is pushed back inside the mold to form at the base of the molded hollow body, by rolling up its wall, a lined annular bearing wing, and the hollow body thus shaped is detached from the rest of the strip before extract it from its mold.

Finally, the invention also comprises the hollow body obtained according to the method of the invention and which is characterized in that it has at its base an annular bearing wing in which the plastic sheet is doubled by rolling over it. -even from the wall of the hollow body.
The accompanying drawing represents. by way of example, one embodiment of the installation for implementing the method according to the invention and illustrates the different phases of an implementation of the latter for the manufacture of pots.
Fig. 1 is a schematic overview of the installation.
Figs. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 illustrate successive phases in the manufacture of a pot in said installation.
Fig. 7 is a detail view of the invention.
Fig. 8 is a view taken along line 8-8 of FIG. 7.
Fig. 9 is a side view of an arrangement of the installation.
The installation shown is intended for the manufacture of pots P (FIG. 6) having a general frustoconical shape, the opening P1 of which is on the side having a small diameter, while the closed bottom P2 is on the side of the large diameter. These pots have great stability.
These pots have a flat, raised bottom P2, set back from the plane in which the lower bearing edge of a basic circular wing P3 is located. The circular edge of the raised flat bottom P2 is contiguous with the side wall of the pot, the base wing being contiguously doubled at P4 on the height of the raised base. The products contained in these jars are held in a stable and fully accessible manner by virtue of the flat bottom with circular edge joined against the side wall, without any loss of content.
The molds 1 in which these pots are formed are in three parts: a base 1a and two articulated elements 1b and 1c. In the base la is formed a recess ld. A flat delivery mobile bottom 2 lines the bottom of the recess id. A rod 2a of this movable base slides in the base 1a and has a stop 2b to remain integral with the base in all positions. The depth of the recess id corresponds substantially to the height at which the delivery bottom 2 is raised below the plane formed by the edge P3. The elements lb and are articulated on the yew base. The junction plane of the elements lb-lc is perpendicular to the direction of movement of the chain of the molds.
At the base of the recesses of the elements lb-lc, is formed a circular clearance 1h intended to form a bead at the base which clearly marks the lower bearing edge P3 of the pot, and which ensures the regular form of this edge in a single plan, especially when pushing back the bottom.
The molds 1 are interconnected to form an endless chain mounted on guides and drive and return wheels. This chain is driven at a predetermined speed taking into account the various operations and the functioning of the assembly.
The installation comprises an extruder 3 from which is extruded a plastic tube T which is opened by means not shown along a generatrix, and developed to form a strip B. This strip is guided on rollers or rollers, to be fed. above the endless chain formed by the molds 1, this shortly after exiting the extruder 3, so that the band B is in a deformable state when it is presented and applied to the molds. Only part of the band B is used for forming the pots in the molds. The unused part of the band B is returned to a granulator apparatus 4, and the granules formed by said apparatus are immediately reused in the extruder 3 which is also supplied in a complementary manner at 5.
Parallel to the part of the chain of molds on which the strip B is brought to the deformable state, are mounted rails 6 intended to support and guide the movements of a carriage 7 carrying corresponding rolling members 7a.
On a transverse support of the frame of the carriage 7, in the axis of the mold chain, is fixed a double-acting cylinder 8, with pneumatic operation for example. The cylinder of the jack 8 is arranged to produce the axial displacement on the one hand of a bell 9, and, on the other hand, of a piston 10.
The lower edge of the bell 9 has a flexible gasket 9a ensuring a tight junction with the sheet B placed on the molds. The tightness is improved as a result of the presence on the end face of the elements 1b and 1c of the molds, of a projection constituting an annular ridge around the mouth of the mold. Inside the projection 1c, a circular groove ig is formed which leaves enough material to remain during the molding, to constitute a robust circular edge giving the molded pot great rigidity.
A spring 11 is interposed between the cylinder of the jack 8 and the bell 9 to ensure regular application of the lining 9a. The projection 1c has a judicious profile favoring the sealed junction, and, consequently, the cutting of the strip.
A flexible pipe 12 terminates inside the bell 9 to direct into the mold concerned a gaseous or liquid fluid under pressure, which is sent from a known generator, not shown.
The piston 10 is terminated by a head 10a whose role is to develop initially, inside the mold, the part of the strip B which is located above the opening of the mold.
The frame of the carriage 7 is extended downwards by supports 7b at a level appreciably lower than the level of the mold chain 1. The supports 7b carry a jack 13, the piston 13a of which can act, by a control judiciously synchronized against the rod 2a of the delivery base 2, to raise the latter.
The length of the rails 6 on which the carriage 7 is moved is limited to the stroke necessary, relatively small, for the accomplishment of the operations of shaping the pot, after which the carriage is very quickly recalled, in a translation in the opposite direction, above the next mold, for the molding of another pot. The carriage 7 and the chain of the molds are driven at the same speed.
The drive of the carriage 7, advancing at the same time as the chain of the molds, can take place in any case, in particular by means ensuring a momentary connection between the chain and the carriage, an unlocking which releases the carriage 7 from the chain. , intervening automatically at a point of the stroke, by stop means for example, when the molding of a pot is finished. It is emphasized that the process of molding a pot takes place in a short time. At this moment, the carriage is returned very quickly to its starting point, to cooperate with the next mold, by means of a set of cables and counterweight 14 with a stop 15 (fig. 1).
In a variant, it is possible to control the return stroke of the carriage 7, and possibly the accompanying stroke of the molds during the molding of the pots, by means of a pneumatic cylinder 16 (fig. 1), with a stop-shock absorber in limit switch.
Pressure and cutting rollers 17 are rotatably terminated at a fixed station located at a determined distance from the starting point of the molding process, which is also the starting point of the translation of the carriage.
The rollers 17 are placed in the immediate vicinity of the upper plane of the molds, so that their peripheral surface presses against the circular projection 1c to produce, at the end of the molding process, the cutting of the strip and the separation between said strip. and the molded plastic material in the form of a pot.
The rollers 17 can be equipped with heating or cooling means so that the cutting of the strip B takes place under the most favorable conditions. They can be profiled in a convex manner, along their generatrices, so as to press against the strip B only in the part of said strip which passes above the circular projection le.
In one embodiment, the rollers 17 are made of steel of hardness equivalent to the hardness of the elements of the molds which come into contact with said rollers. In a variant, the rollers 17 are made of a relatively soft material, such as plastic, the rolls then being reconformed during each operation, as and when, by metal pressure rollers, not shown, against which the rollers 17 are supported.
The bell 9 is integral with a sole 9b carrying positioning fingers 9c intended to penetrate when the bell is applied against the elements of the mold, in corresponding holes 1 j drilled in the juxtaposed elements 1b and 1c of each mold.
As a result, a perfect centering of the bell and the piston 10 with respect to the opening of the mold is obtained, without any risk of relative displacement or deformation, while the elements of the molds which are firmly coupled and positioned cannot to open.
The operation of the installation is as follows:
From the extruding machine 3, a plastic tube T is extruded which is open along a generatrix and which is developed flat to form a strip B. While it remains in the deformable state, this strip is fed. parallel above a part of the endless chain made up of the molds 1 (fig. 2), then said strip is applied to the elements lb-lc of a mold, and in particular to the circular projection le, by the descent of the bell 9 controlled by the jack 8. In this movement, the fingers 9c position and couple the elements lb-lc of the mold.
Immediately the piston 10 is moved up and down, deforming and stretching the part of the strip pressed above the mouth of the mold, then the fluid supplied by the pipe 12 then acts to press the deformed plastic material against the walls. side of elements lb-lc and against the movable delivery bottom 2 (fig. 3).
The movable bottom 2 is then pushed back and raised under the action of the jack 13, at the same time as the layer of plastic material with which said bottom is coated. In this movement, the plastic material which laterally lines the recess id, is raised to the level provided, by molding and not by stretching, maintaining a regular thickness and jointly lining the lower part of the side wall of the pot (fig. 4). .
The operations carried out in correlation with the carriage 7 are then completed and an automatic triggering mechanism intervenes to lower the piston of the cylinder 13, then to produce the rise of the piston 10 and the bell 9, as well as the release of the fingers 9c which release the elements of the mold. The carriage is quickly recalled to its starting point, to restart the cycle of forming a pot in the next mold.
The movement of the chain brings the mold in which the pot was formed, under the rollers 17, so as to separate the molded pot from the strip B. Then the opening of the elements of the mold occurs, by simple gravitation, when the mold passes over the idler wheel and changes plane. The molded pot can then escape from the mold or be removed by hand or by automatic means (fig. 6). By a judicious choice of the thickness of the strip, it will be obtained that the pot has a minimum thickness that is economical and compatible with good use, while certain parts of this pot such as the neck around the opening and the flange of base at the bottom, are judiciously reinforced.
