Tapping chucks With machine tapping, especially in blind bores using a tapping chuck without an adjustable overload clutch, the risk of the drill breaking due to overloading is very high.
For this reason, tapping chucks with adjustable overload clutches have been gaining ground in practice for a long time.
Here, the tap is first inserted into a tool holder sleeve, clamped immovably in it and, after the interposition of an adjustable overload clutch, connected to the thread cutting chuck with a force fit.
If the torque set on the coupling is exceeded, the coupling slips, the non-positive connection between the thread cutting chuck and the tool holder sleeve with the cutting tool attached is automatically interrupted, and tool breakage is prevented.
The tapping chuck recorded in the rotating work spindle continues to rotate, but the tap stops and can no longer be overloaded beyond its breaking limit.
Regardless of the type of coupling (claw, multi-plate, ball ratchet coupling, etc.) that are installed in known thread-cutting safety chucks, pressure, e.g. B. disc springs that construction element that find application for regulating the torque to be recorded by the clutch. This regulation is done in such a way that the springs are compressed according to the requirements he needs or less.
If the Ge thread cutting chucks previously offered on the market are still not completely satisfactory despite the built-in overload safety clutch. H. The requirements of the users of these tools in the metal cutting industry have a reason: a) The coupling has to be specially set for each tap size, since the breaking limit of the tap rises and falls with its diameter .
b) that the handling of the coupling mechanism for correct torque setting is not mastered by the mostly unskilled operators who work with the chucks on the machines and therefore drill breakages occur very often due to incorrect operation.
These shortcomings are eliminated by the tapping chuck according to the invention.
The inventive tapping chuck with an overload clutch formed by adjustable compression springs, consisting of a chuck body and a support sleeve for the tool that can be inserted into it and coupled with it, is characterized in that the compression springs of the overload clutch are at least partially in the area of engagement of one in the direction of the Lining-directed approach of the support sleeve are and the approach and the Fe countries for mutual engagement, or for mutual influence are formed.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of a thread cutting chuck according to the invention; namely Fig. 1 the chuck in elevation in partial axial section, Fig. 2 is a section along line A-B of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 the carrier sleeve alone in elevation and partial section.
The tapping chuck consists of the chuck body 1 with a tapered shank 2 for insertion into a drilling spindle. In place of the taper shank 2, there can also be another acquisition, e.g. B. with steep taper shank, cylindrical shank, quick change shank, etc.
The chuck body 1 is designed in a known manner for the use of a support sleeve 3, into which the tap 4 is inserted and clamped immovably bar using a radially mounted threaded pin 5.
For coupling the chuck body 1 with the inserted support sleeve 3 balls 6 are provided, some of which extend into recesses 7 of the carrier sleeve 3 and some of them into recesses 8 of the chuck body 1. The balls are under the load influence of leaf springs 9 axially mounted in slots 19, the free resilient end of which is intended to press onto the back of the balls 6.
The rest of the springs 9 rest against the mass of the chuck body 1 and are held in contact with the chuck body 1 by a sliding sleeve 10. A shift of the sliding sleeve 10 up or down changes the clamping area or the clamping length of the leaf springs 9 with the consequence of changing the spring characteristics.
The carrier sleeve 3 is enclosed by an adjusting ring 11 which is arranged so that it can be axially adjusted and locked by means of a threaded pin 12 which engages in a cutout 13. The adjusting ring 11 is designed so that its ring attachment 14 is in contact with the sliding sleeve 10 with the upper end. Of course, with the omission of the adjusting ring 11 and the threaded pin 12 and the milled recess 13, the support sleeve 3 itself can be designed so that the adjusting ring approach is worked directly onto the water.
On the sliding sleeve 10, a hand ring 15 standing under a return spring 18 is rotatably arranged, between the inner circumference and the outer circumference of the sliding sleeve 10 there is a spring ring 16 engaging in annular grooves on both sides, so that completely safe, even with a rotating machine spindle, by lifting the Hand ring 15 at the same time a shifting of the sliding sleeve 10 can be acts.
In addition, the tapping chuck is equipped with a device of a known type, which allows a quick change of the carrier sleeve 3 including Ge tap 4. With an axially displaceable, spring-loaded gripping sleeve 17, the quick-change device can be operated completely safely, both at a standstill and when the chuck is rotating, with only one hand required.
The function of the tapping chuck is as follows: For each thread dimension to be cut, the operator has taps 4 of different sizes. Each tap 4 is inserted into the carrier sleeve 3 that fits it with respect to its shaft and is immovably clamped therein by means of a threaded pin 5. The carrier sleeve 3 including the tap 4 can now be inserted into the chuck body 1 and detached from it by operating the quick-change device.
The insertion takes place in such a way that with one hand the gripping sleeve 17 is moved downward against the spring pressure acting on it so far that the retaining balls can withdraw into the recess in the gripping sleeve 17. Then, with the other hand, the carrier sleeve 3 including the tap 4 is inserted into the chuck body 1 as far as possible and the gripping sleeve 17 is released. The compression spring now pushes the gripping sleeve 17 up to the stop formed by a spring ring on the chuck body 1 and now blocks the ball outlet. The carrier sleeve 3 is thus secured against falling out of the chuck body 1 ge.
At the same time, the balls 6 of the overload clutch are engaged in the recesses 7 of the support sleeve 3, so that there is a non-positive connection between the chuck body 1 and the support sleeve 3 via the leaf springs 9 and the sliding sleeve 10. The removal takes place in that the gripping sleeve 17 is pushed so far down with one hand that the retaining balls can step back into the recess of the gripping sleeve 17 and that one then catches the falling out support sleeve -3 with the other hand.
Depending on the number of threads of different diameters to be cut, the previous one with the next carrier sleeve including thread drill can be exchanged safely and in a matter of seconds in a quick change process using a simple handle.
According to the size of the tap, the length of the projection 14 of the associated support sleeve 3 changes in the adjusting ring 11 connected to the support sleeve 3, so that when the support sleeve 3 with the tap 4 is inserted into the chuck body 1, the sliding sleeve 10 is raised more or less becomes. Is z.
B. the thread tap 4 larger diameter, the extension 14 is longer and moves the sliding sleeve 10 more upwards when inserted, so that the free, unstressed and therefore resilient end of the clamped leaf spring 9 is shortened and thus the coupling balls 6, a greater resistance counteracts the exit from the recesses 7. The clutch torque is stronger.
Conversely, the coupling is weaker when a tap smaller diameter is used, because the sliding container 10 is less high in this case because of the shorter length of the collar approach 14, so that the free unstressed end of the leaf spring 9 is longer and the coupling torque thus becomes weaker.
Should the clutch, as in practice, be found again and again when. Switching the machine to left or right
Slipping backwards because chip clogging or excessive start-up of the tap at the bottom of the thread core hole bore an increase in the circumferential force acting on the carrier sleeve 3, which is no longer able to maintain the balance compared to the set clutch torque, thanks to the innovative clutch mechanism and the novel clutch torque setting, the brief readjustment of the clutch to a clutch torque that, for example, is able to loosen the stuck tap again,
can be handled very easily in that one moves the sliding sleeve 10 by hand by means of the hand ring 15 connected to it correspondingly far upwards. This shortens the free resilient end of the leaf springs 9 and increases the coupling torque.
It can be seen that the present thread cutting chuck is, so to speak, foolproof, insofar as the setting of the coupling torque to the maximum permissible torque of a certain tap size is fully automatic, so it is relentlessly dependent on the operator.
The very simple way with which a brief increase in the clutch torque can be brought about in special cases also means a great saving in time. Finally, the entire construction of this tapping chuck is very simple, so that an economical production of this tool is guaranteed.
The coupling torque setting and / or the determination of the maximum permissible torque assigned to the tap size thus takes place automatically when the carrier sleeve with the tap received therein is inserted into the chuck, in such a way that the adjusting ring surrounding the carrier sleeve can be axially displaced on the chuck body arranged sliding sleeve depending on the length of the collar approach high or less high.
The resulting change in the lever arm and clamping length of the overload clutch springs, which are expediently designed as leaf or round bar springs, results in the horizontal spring force introduced via the springs that is so great that it is the vertical component of the circumferential force The carrier sleeve maintains the equilibrium and, on the other hand, is only so strong that this equilibrium is interrupted before the torque permissible for the tap is exceeded and a drill break is prevented.
The lifting stroke for the sliding sleeve, which changes for this automatic clutch torque setting depending on the tap size, is achieved by using carrier sleeves that are adapted to the tap size, with the height of the adjusting ring attachment being adjusted according to the experimentally determined lifting stroke.
The additional short-term increase in the coupling torque, both when the machine spindle is at a standstill and when it is rotating, is thus achieved in a matter of seconds by means of a simple handle by grasping the sliding sleeve on its hand ring and moving it upwards.
This handling leads to a shortening of the resilient part of the leaf springs, which at constant F (deflection) as well as E (modulus of elasticity) and J (moment of inertia) results in a theoretically increasing horizontal spring force according to Kubi's law, which results in the coupling torque (circumferential force) accordingly elevated.
As soon as you let go of the hand ring, this and the sliding sleeve connected to it are moved down by a compression spring to the original position or to the position on the collar approach and the coupling torque originally set automatically is restored.
This extremely simple possibility of varying the coupling torque with the rotating work spindle is a great advantage, because with the known Ge thread cutting chucks the work spindle must be shut down in order to be able to laboriously change the coupling torque with screwdrivers and other manipulations if necessary and then again in the same way the originally set To obtain coupling torque.
The great advantage of the present tapping chuck is particularly evident when, for example, the clutch slips when switching the machine to reverse, because chip clogging or excessive start-up of the Ge tap at the bottom of the thread core hole resulted in an increase in torque and the clutch only slips through can be switched off with a brief increase in the clutch torque.
