Method for making an artificial tooth crown
The subject of the invention is a method for the production of an artificial tooth crown, characterized by the use of a section of a flexible metal braid with closed edges as the connecting means of a prefabricated dental prosthesis made of synthetic resin or porcelain with a residual structure made of precious metal.
In a preferred type of method, a metal mesh made of cast-on precious metal wire is used after adaptation together with a remainder of wax to make a casting hollow form, from which the wax is then melted and in which the metal part of the crown is then poured, whereupon the mesh is attached this crown part the prefabricated dental prosthesis made of synthetic resin or porcelain is attached with a binder.
The method according to the invention is explained, for example, with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows in elevation with dash-dotted lines the model of a remaining tooth and in section a synthetic resin or porcelain facet adapted on its inside to the front of this model.
For a further phase of the method, FIG. 2 illustrates the model of the remaining tooth together with a section of the metal mesh that is adapted to the front side of the latter.
In a subsequent phase, FIG. 3 illustrates the model of the remaining tooth including the adapted mesh section, the facet placed on this mesh and wax with which the model works completely.
4 and 5 are an elevation and a side elevation of the model of the combination or facet crown or of the crown itself after it has been cast.
6 is an elevation view of the combination or facet crown completed with the facet, with the facet shown in longitudinal section, and FIG
Figure 7 is a view of a portion of a metal braid.
In Fig. 1, 1 designates the model of the remaining tooth, which model is ground to size in its upper half as usual; with 2 a synthetic resin or porcelain facet is drawn, as it is commercially available; the rear side 3 of this facet, including a shoulder surface 4, has been labgeschl, iffen in order to nestle exactly against the front side of the remaining tooth model 1.
The dental technician then cuts a section 6 of the required length from a strand 5 of any length (FIG. 7) of a stretchable metal mesh made of cast-on noble metal wire, which strand has closed edge loops 5a, 5b.
This section 6 is now adapted to the front of the remaining tooth model matching the facet back 3 by warping in length and / or width where this is necessary (as indicated in Fig. 7 with dot-dash lines), without any wrinkles occurring, making sure that the edge loops are on top and bottom. The facet 2 is now placed on the metal mesh section 6 adapted in this way, and the process is continued by completing the model of the crown on the model 1 of the remaining tooth with wax 7, as illustrated in FIG. 3.
The entire circumference of the braid section 6 comes to lie in wax 7.
Afterwards, the facet 2 can be removed again and the model of the crown including the adapted metal mesh section 6 removed from the model of the remaining tooth and used in a known manner to produce a cast hollow mold; Ida's wax 7 is then melted from this, and then the metal part of the crown is poured into it, which part of course has the same shape as the wax 7 of the crown model. Thus, FIGS. 4 and 5 can just as well be viewed as representations of the crown model as well as the crown itself.
In a further process, a suitable binder, e.g. B. with a polymerizable epoxy resin, the facet with the metal braid nsd the remaining structure of the crown, which is designated in Fig. 6 with 8, connected, with the model 1 of the remaining tooth is inserted into the cavity of the crown at times. It is easy to see that the previously exposed part of the metal mesh, i.e. not embedded in the residual structure 8 of the crown, is now completely embedded in the hardening or hardened binding agent, which binding agent is also firmly bonded to the inside of the facet 3. The combination or facet crown is now finished and can be mounted on the natural remaining tooth by the dentist.
It can easily be seen that a prefabricated dental prosthesis can be selected from a supply of synthetic resin teeth or prefabricated facets or porcelain teeth in terms of its external shape and in particular its color tone so that it fits well with the natural remaining dentition.
Up to now, crown facets have been made from polymerizable synthetic resin by dental technicians, and it has been found all too often that the color of the facet obtained in this way does not match that of the remaining dentition. It is also easy to see that the method described produces an excellent connection between a synthetic resin or porcelain facet and a residual crown structure made of noble metal. However, a condition for the successful success of the process is the use of adjustable metal braid with closed edges 5a, 5b, whereby the metal braid should consist of precious metal wire that can be cast on, because, apart from the facet, the crown is made by casting.
