Description
Nabelbinde
Umbilical bandage
The present invention relates to an umbilical bandage which differs from known umbilical bandages by a fabric strip which is elastically stretchable in the longitudinal direction and for the closure of which are arranged at the ends of the fabric strip textile adhesive tapes, at least one of which is provided with flexible hooks woven into it, so that When the two adhesive tapes are placed together, the hooks of one tape get caught in the hook or in the fiber structure of the other tape and thus create a smooth, secure, but nevertheless easily detachable connection.
The design according to the invention enables a quick and easy connection of the ends of the umbilical cord in any desired position, but in particular in the best possible position with regard to the body circumference and the elasticity of the cord. A repeated wrapping around the body, as was necessary with the known bandages to achieve a secure fit, is no longer necessary with the umbilical bandage according to the invention. The bandage according to the invention is not only quicker and easier to put on, but also requires significantly less fabric.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the umbilical bandage according to the invention is shown as an example, namely shows:
1 shows the umbilical band spread out on a plane in a diagrammatic representation, and
Fig. 2 shows the partially tied umbilical cord, also in the diagram.
In the example shown, 1 designates a fabric strip of suitable width, for example approximately 10 cm. The fabric strip 1 should be elastically stretchable in the longitudinal direction, for which purpose the warp threads running in the longitudinal direction of the strip can be formed by synthetic fibers, for example made of nylon thread, while the weft thread can be made of cotton. The fabric sold under the brand name HELANCA has proven to be particularly suitable for the intended purpose.
With 2 and 3 two textile adhesive tapes sewn onto the fabric strip are designated, of which one, 2, is arranged on the outside and the other, 3, is arranged on the inside of the umbilical band, each extending to the ends of the bandage.
The length of each of these textile adhesive tapes is about 1/3 of the entire length of the bandage.
Such textile adhesive tapes are known under the brand name VELCRO tapes. These are two-part bands, one part of which is provided on one side with woven-in, elastically flexible hooks, which can be formed, for example, by the cut knobs of woven-in thermoplastic plastic threads, for example made of nylon. The other part of the adhesive tape can also be provided on the contact side with such woven-in hooks, or else with closely spaced, longer knobs of woven-in, resistant threads, for example made of nylon. When these two band parts are placed together, the elastically flexible hooks of one part get caught in the hooks or knobs of the other part.
In addition to the inner end of one adhesive tape part 3, one end of a protective flap 4 is sewn on.
The length of this protective flap, which is suitably made of the same material as the fabric strip 1, is also about 1/3 of the entire length of the bandage.
When the umbilical bandage is put on, the same is laid out flat, as shown in FIG. 1, the protective flap 4 coming to rest over the adhesive tape 3. The newborn is now placed with its back on the middle part of the bandage and then the flap 4 is wrapped around the stomach side. Then the bandage end provided with the adhesive tape part 2 on the outside is wrapped around the stomach side from the other side and then the bandage end provided with the adhesive tape part 3 on the inside is also placed over it, the elastically flexible hooks of the adhesive tape part 2 in the hooks or knobs of the adhesive tape part 3 caught and thus represent a flat, secure but nevertheless easily detachable closure. The purpose of the closure flap 4 is to prevent the piece of adhesive tape 3 arranged on the inside of the bandage from coming into contact with the skin of the newborn.
If one adhesive tape part is provided with hooks woven in and the other adhesive tape part is provided with knobs, it is expedient to arrange the adhesive tape part 2 with the hooks on the outside of the bandage.
