Tubular bar The object of the present invention is a tubular bar, shaped by the die and having a thin pa king of approximately circular shape, which is characterized in that this wall comprises on its inner face longitudinal stiffening ribs.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the tubular bar which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a cross section of this embodiment, FIG. 2 showing the shape that this section takes if: the die core is not exactly centered when shaping the bar.
Figs. 3 and 4 are views similar to FIGS. 1 and 2 concerning a bar of circular section of current shape.
The bar shown in FIG. 1 has a thin wall 1 of circular shape comprising, on its inner face, longitudinal stiffening ribs 2.
The ribs 2, ten in number, are evenly distributed angularly and the interior surface 3 of the wall, between the ribs, is also cylindrical. The thickness f of the wall is equal to 1/20 u outside diameter D of the bar, the projection g of the ribs and their width h being approximately equal to the wall thickness f .
In the bar shown in fig. 1, the interior ribs 2 constitute approximately 20% of the area of the section. Their presence only slightly modifies the moment of inertia of the section but contributes, on the other hand, to stiffening the wall of the bar longitudinally, which will be much more difficult to drive in locally, under the action of an external shock for example .
When shaping the bar, it may happen that the core of the die is not exactly centered, which for the profile shown leads, for example, to the cross section of FIG. 2. The eccentricity e causes the thinning of the wall indicated in 4, without however modifying the corresponding stiffening ribs which then play an even greater role.
By way of comparison, there is shown in FIG. 3 a circular section without mace ribs presenting the same surface as the section of FIG. 1. Its moment of inertia is slightly greater as long as its wall is not deformed, but this wall can easily be depressed, as a result of a side impact exerted by means of a bar 5 for example, causing a drop. important moment of resistance. This defect is even more noticeable during an eccentricity, as shown in FIG. 4.
In variants, the outer contour of the bar may have the shape of a polygon having, for example, a number of vertices equal to that of the inner stiffening ribs. The interior surface of the wall segments included between the ribs may be planar, and other shapes of ribs may be provided, their number preferably remaining greater than eight.
The bar shown, made of polyethylene for example, is suitable in particular for the manufacture of posts intended for picketing in the snow of slalom courses. Such a post formed by a section of bar open at its ends is easily driven into the snow. It has a high resistance, although of thin paroâ and therefore inexpensive. Depending on the desired hardness, other plastics can be used for its shaping. The bar can also be shaped in other materials, in particular ferrous or non-ferrous metals.
