Lock deicers, especially for automobile locks Automobile enthusiasts use liquid aids to de-icing locks and windows, which are filled into containers of considerable size. These are usually kept inside the car,
because they cannot be stowed in a skirt pocket due to their size and the risk of clothes being soiled as a result of leakage, and are therefore enclosed in the car if necessary. One then tries, for example, to thaw the lock with matches, which is laborious and often does not lead to the desired success if the lock is heavily iced up.
The invention relates to a lock deicer, in particular for automobile locks, whose comparatively small dimensions allow, the same be quem to stow my skirt pocket.
The lock deicer according to the invention is characterized by a pocket-sized housing, a heating plate attached to the outside of the housing and a heating pin displaceable with respect to the housing, the heating plate and heating pin being heatable by means of a battery housed in the housing.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing, wherein: FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section and FIG. 2 shows a side view of the lock deicer.
The lock deicer has a housing 1 with a cover 2. A heating plate 3 is attached to the cover. A heating pin 4, which is arranged on a slide 5, can be pushed completely into the housing from the illustrated working position.
The heating plate and the heating pin are provided with a resistance wire 6 which can be heated up to 200 C by means of a battery 7. The battery 7 is in constant contact with the housing 1 by means of the spring 8. The heating plate 3 can be switched on by pressing the push button contact 9 against the action of the spring 10.
When the heating pin 4 is pushed out into its working position: its contact 11 is automatically closed. Both the heating plate 3 and the heating pin 4 are in the circuit of the manually operable pushbutton contact 9. When the latter is released, the heating plate 3 and heating pin 4 are automatically switched off at the same time.
The lock deicer is used as follows: The heating plate 3 is heated up and held on the lock. If this is not enough, the pin 4 is brought into the working position (Fig. 1 and 2) so that: it is also heated. The pin is now inserted into the keyhole while the plate 3 is pressed against the lock. This means that the lock is defrosted in a short time so that: it can be operated using a key.
