Bracelet with clasp for a timepiece Various types of clasps for timepieces are already known, in which a lever carrying a cam clamps one of the ends of the bracelet against the base of the clasp.
In one of the known constructions, the clasp is formed by a piece of rectangular section, having at one of its ends a slot at the upper part of which is fixed one of the ends of a bracelet and in which slides the other end introduced by a second slot made opposite the first. In the vicinity of this second slot and on the upper part of the part is articulated a lever subjected to a return spring. The cam of this lever comes, in the locking position, to press the second end against the bottom of the part. Bosses integral with the lower face of this sliding bracelet cooperate with recesses made in the bottom.
In another known construction, the bracelet comprises a clasp integral with one of the strands of the bracelet and provided with means ensuring the tightening of the other strand of the bracelet. The latter strand is clamped between the base of the clasp and a plate moving parallel to the plane of the bracelet by the eccentric end of a lever pivoting on the base. The base plate carries a transverse rib or groove which engages in a groove or a rib made on the invisible face of the bracelet.
The first of the known constructions has the drawback of wear and damage to the bracelet by the eccentric which directly urges it. The second, which partly resolves this problem, makes it difficult to introduce the strand due to the presence of the mentioned plate. In either case, one of the ends of the bracelet is fixed irremovable to the clasp, which practically requires the change of clasp when replacing the bracelet.
The present invention specifically relates to a bracelet with a clasp for timepieces, obviating these drawbacks and having a clasp formed by a bottom connecting two flanges, means for attaching a first strand of the bracelet to the clasp, a lever mounted to pivot between the flanges and ensuring the clamping of a second strand of the bracelet and the means for retaining said second strand in the closed position of the lever.
This bracelet is characterized in that a concave plate is mounted between said flanges and comes between the lever and the second strand of the bracelet.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the present invention and variants.
Fig. 1 shows a sectional view.
Fig. 2 is a top view and FIG. 3, a bottom view of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 shows, in a view similar to that of FIG. 3, a first variant of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 shows a second variant of FIG. 1. FIG. 6 shows a third variant of FIG. 1.
Fig. 7 shows a fourth variant of FIG. 1.
Referring to the drawings, it can be seen in FIGS. 1 to 3 that the clasp is formed by a bottom 1 connecting two flanges 2 and 3. Between these flanges is pivoted a lever 4 around an axis 5. At the end of the first strand 6 of the bracelet are fixed on both sides 'other under its face two tubular elements 7 and 8 for fixing this strand to the flanges by means of a bar 9. The bottom 1 has two depressions or rectangular openings 10 and 11, the first of which is larger than the second.
The second strand of the bracelet, 12, has, on the back, equidistant bosses of slightly smaller dimensions than that of the opening 11 and the upper face of which is inclined in the direction of introduction of the strand into the bracelet.
A plate 13 of concave section is mounted between the two flanges. Its curved end 14 is fixed between the bar 9 and the strand 6. This end of the plate has two notches corresponding to the tubular elements 7 and 8. The lever 4 has a cam 115 which, when the lever is closed is that is to say approximately horizontal, comes near ser the plate 13 against the second strand 12 of the bra celet.
When the lever is open, on the contrary, the cam retracts horizontally and the plate 13 can be raised, either by its own elasticity, or under the effect of a traction operated on the second strand 12 of the bracelet.
When this second strand of the bracelet is locked by the lever, one of the bosses it carries fits into the opening 11, while the previous boss comes into the opening 10 and can move if there is a dilation. In fig. 4, alternatively, the bosses and the openings 16 and 17 are of circular section. Again, the opening 17 has a smaller diameter than that of the opening 16 to allow precise positioning of the corresponding boss.
In the variant of fi-. 5, the lever 18 operates as above, but is articulated to the posed op of the clasp. It opens and closes in the opposite direction. In fig. 6, there is shown a variant of the fixing of the plate, which now has vertical lugs 19 and is articulated around the pivot axis 20 of the lever. The openings 21 of the ears allow the plate to move in height, when the lever is open. Finally, in fig. 7, it can be seen as a variant that the lever is arranged in the opposite direction to that shown in FIG. 6.
In general, the construction described offers the advantage of being simple, of guaranteeing flawless operation of the locking, of sparing the strand pinched by the clasp and of being quickly assembled or disassembled. The free end of the bracelet is quickly introduced into the clasp thanks to the concave section of the plate. The locking is resistant and the aspect is resistant and the aesthetic aspect of the clasp allows a varied use.
It may in particular be noted that the lever has, opposite the cam, two lateral folds extending parallel to the flanges and increasing its gripping surface. Its handling is thus made easier for the user. Finally, the second strand of the bracelet, carrying the bosses, can easily be manufactured with these bosses, for example by stamping, because the plate distributes the locking force over the entire width of the bra celet.
