Process for the production of sheet-like structures from synthetic fibers sheet-like structures from contiguous fiber material are generally produced according to two basic processes, namely by dry means (Carding, needle loom, whirling process) or with a wet process,
which is mainly used on the paper machine.
In most cases, a binder is used to consolidate the fiber structure, such as. B. Solvents and swelling agents, emulsions or ther mixed adhesive substances. Particularly when the wet-fleece process is carried out, these binders not only have to guarantee the dry strength of the fleece, but also fulfill another task which severely limits the selection of the available binders.
The wet fleece process is associated with special problems. Thus, the sheet once formed on the chain sieve already needs considerable strength in the wet state so that: the transition between the individual machine and transport elements takes place without tearing the sheet.
Due to the smooth, mostly non-felting synthetic fibers, the formed fleece does not get any mechanical cohesion when wet, so that today, in most cases, one is still dependent on the addition of cellulose pulp as a binding material.
For this reason, the production of papers, which are 100% synthetic fiber material, face great difficulties.
For special purposes and for the production of 100% synthetic papers, attempts have been made, often costly, to imitate the cellulose pulp from synthetic material by producing highly branched and bizarre shaped particles to prevent the fibers from being suspended to add.
It has now surprisingly been found that without the use of. Binding agents of any kind are a sheet-like structure made of felted synthetic fibers that have wet strength required for processing on paper machines when it is composed of fibers of different thicknesses and thus different elasticities.
The method according to the invention for the production of sheet-like structures from coherent, interlaced, synthetic fiber material is characterized in that at least two types of staple fibers of different thicknesses made of synthetic material are floated in water, mixed and then separated from the water by means of a sieve in the form of a fleece will.
Particularly good results are obtained when the fiber mixture contains a part of fibers with a titer of less than 0.1 den and a part of fibers with a titer of more than 1.0 den.
It is advisable that the fine threads have a titre of less than 0.1 denier and that they do not form tangled connections with themselves.
These fine threads can, if z. B. 'a fully synthetic paper is to be made of polyester, preferably made of polymers that have a flexible character, such as. B. Mixed - polyester.
With regard to a further processing of the once formed fleece, it is useful to match the thickness of the threads to one another, i.e. H. adapting the titer of the fine threads to the coarser fiber material to be processed; it does not matter whether the threads are drawn, partially drawn or undrawn.
Example 1 10 g of a fiber stack of 10 mm length and 1.5 denier made of polyethylene terephthalate are carried out using a dispersing agent in water and 1 g of extremely fine threads made of the same material as the staple fibers are added exist, but have a length of about 3 mm and a thickness of 0.03 den; If the work is carried out without the addition of the extremely fine threads, the fabric only has a tear length of less than 50 cm.
Example 2 2 g of staple fibers of a mixed polyester of 8 mm length and 2 denier are distributed in 21 water and with a second dispersion of 0.4 g of staple fibers of average length 2 mm and 0.05 denier in 300 cms Water added.
The mixed mass is drained through a sieve and the result is a uniform sheet of 100% synthetic material with a tearing length in the wet state of 1200 cm.
The even distribution can be promoted by using thickeners and other non-stick additives as well as surface-active substances. In general, however, this is not necessary for the fineness of the added fiber material, as this ensures even distribution during mixing, so that it gradually becomes loaded with the coarse staple fibers.
