Valve control for internal combustion engines The invention relates to a valve control for internal combustion engines with two inlet and two outlet valves per cylinder, which are arranged in pairs in planes parallel or perpendicular to the longitudinal center plane and whose rocker arms can each be actuated via a crosshead.
The arrangement of the rocker arms has already been made in a myriad of different embodiments, this becoming more complicated the more valves are to be actuated. If, in addition, the intake duct is arranged on the same side of the cylinder cover as the valve drive or the control shaft with the bumpers, additional spatial restrictions occur.
It has therefore already been proposed to arrange the rocker arms including the valves at an angle so that the rocker arm axis and the connecting lines of the associated valves are parallel to one another, but form an angle with the longitudinal axis of the motor .
In a further known embodiment with four valves, a common rocker arm is provided for each pair of valves, the abutting rocker arms of adjacent cylinders being pivotable about a common bolt. Be the actuation of the rocker arm is done by eccentrically to the levels laid by the valves on subordinate control levers, so that the force required to operate the valves is considerable due to the small lever arm.
Another embodiment, in turn, provides a single spring supported on a rocker for the four valves of a cylinder, with supports connecting similar valves resting on the ends of the rocker. The valves are operated by double levers acting on the valve shafts, which increases the effort.
These disadvantages can be avoided in the case of a valve control of the type mentioned at the outset in that two straight, different; long rocker arms are provided, each of which acts on a crosshead directly or via a roller. The rocker arms can be arranged at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the internal combustion engine and be supported on a single straight shaft.
In the case of gas engines, a further rocker arm for the gas inlet valve can also be arranged on the same shaft. So that no side forces act on the rocker arm and its guidance, it is expedient to let the push rods run as straight as possible to the rocker arm in the vertical projection.
The measures according to the invention simplify the design of the valve drive and also the arrangement of the inlet and outlet lines.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. They show: Fig. 1-3 different designs in plan view of the cylinder cover.
According to Fig. 1, the similar valves, for. B. the inlet valves 1 are arranged in a plane parallel to the longitudinal center plane 2, while the outlet valves 3 are provided in the same way on the other side of the machine. As indicated at 4, the inlet channel is guided in one direction to the inlet line 5 extending along the machine,
while the common outlet for the two valves of a cylinder takes place through line 6 and exhaust manifold 7. The two inlet valves 1 and the two outlet valves 3 of each cylinder are each connected to one another by a cross-head 8, 9 on which the rocker arms 10 and 11 act centrally. Since in the case shown, the connection piece 6 would collide with the bumpers 12,
the common axis of rotation 13 of the rocker arms 10 and 11 is arranged at an angle to the machine longitudinal center plane.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, for example, the inlet valves 15 and the outlet valves 16 are arranged in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal center plane and the inlet and outlet connections are routed to the inlet manifold 5 and the exhaust manifold 7 in the manner described above. The crossheads 17 and 17 connecting the inlet valves.
the crossheads 18 of the outlet valves are arranged in planes perpendicular to the longitudinal center plane and the rocker arms 19 and 20 at an angle to the same ben.
According to the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, a further lever 21, which is used to actuate a gas inlet valve 22, can be provided on the same axis of rotation for the rocker arms 10, 11. The arrangement is otherwise the same in this embodiment as in FIG. 1.
