Connecting device for electric cords The present invention relates to a connecting device for electric cords, comprising a socket and a plug, which is characterized by the fact that both the socket and the plug comprise a housing in which is housed a support of elastic material carrying the sockets, respectively the pins, each of -these members being constituted by a part forcibly engaged in an opening of the support and held in place only by the elastic reaction thereof.
The appended drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the connection device and of a variant according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the plug along the line I-I of FIG. 2, fig. 2 is an end view of this sheet, FIG. 3 shows a section of the plug along line III-III of FIG. 1, FIG. 4 is a longitudinal section of the socket along the line IV-IV of FIG. 5, fig. 5 is an end view of the socket, FIG. 6 shows in section a detail of the housing of a female contact member (socket)
along line VI-VI of fig. 7, fig. 7 shows this housing seen from the end, the -fig. 8 and 9 show a variant of the male connecting member (pin).
Reference 1 designates the support for the pins 10 of the plug, made of molded insulating material (for example synthetic rubber) having a tubular extension 2 intended to engage between the bosses 3a of a housing 3, also made of rubber.
The support 1 has four pass-through holes 4 with a shoulder 5 at one end, intended to receive a fixing rod 6, one end of which is drilled and tapped and the other end comprises hexagonal flanges 7, embedded in the wise bos 3a of the housing 3 during the molding of this part. Fixing screws 8 ensure the assembly of the support 1 and the housing 3. The support 1 also has four holes 9, the first part 9a of which has a square section and the second part 9b a cylindrical section of smaller dimensions.
In the hole 9 is driven by force, in the direction of the part F, a contact member or pin 10, having a portion of square section 10a, followed by a portion 10b of cylindrical section and a head 10c for the fixing of the electrical conductor. For this purpose, the head has a longi tudinal blind hole 10d and a transverse threaded hole intended to receive a fixing screw 10e. To hold the screw 10e in place, the support has two studs 11 (FIG. 3) which elastically enclose the screw and oppose the spontaneous unscrewing of the latter.
In addition, for ease of assembly, the support 1 has a longitudinal groove 12 and the part 3 an internal boss 13 and a reference boss 14. arranged in the same plane. To facilitate the introduction by force of the pins 10 in the opening 9a and 9b of the support 1, the connection head 10c is rounded. It is introduced in the direction of arrow F and the head 10c is forced through the cylindrical opening 9b which yields elastically to the passage of the head 10c. As soon as the head 10c has passed through the hole 9b, the wall of the support returns to its original position and grips the cylindrical section 10b of the spindle and the latter is perfectly held in the support.
This assembly is extremely fast and does not require a fixing device for the spindle. It is then sufficient to tighten the fixing screw 10e to complete the assembly. To assemble the support 1 to the housing 3, it suffices to thread the pass-through holes 4 on the rods 6 by making the boss 13 correspond to the groove 12 and to fix the support 1 by means of the screws 8.
The socket holder 15 of the socket 16 is mounted in a similar way in the housing 17. The sockets 16 attach to the holder 15 in a similar way to the pins 10 to the holder 1. The socket, also made in one piece, has three square parts 16a, 16b and 16c and three cylindrical parts 16d, 16e and 16f. The parts 16d, 16a and 16e have a blind hole intended to receive the pin 10 and are provided with longitudinal slots 16g. The section 16d is capped with a split elastic ring 20.
In order to prevent the earth conductor, the pin of which has a larger diameter, from being inadvertently threaded into a socket under tension, despite the presence of the boss 17 'which must engage in the groove 12, three rings have been provided. insulating input 18, for example nylon, the bore of which does not allow the earth pin to pass.
After placing the sleeve 16 in the direction of the arrow Fl, the sleeve 18 is forced until its rim 18a fits into the groove 19a of the hole 19 of the support. Fig. 6 shows a longitudinal section, along line VI-VI of FIG. 7, of the opening 19 of the support 15, intended to receive the contact sleeve 16 and the insulating ring 18.
Figs. 8 and 9 show a variant of the connection head of a pin. The method of fixing the conductor may also be the same for the head of the socket.
The head of the spindle has a transverse cylindrical housing 21 extended by a threaded hole receiving the rod 22 of a screw 23 whose head takes place in this housing. The rod 22 is pierced with a diametral hole 24 in which the conductor 25 is threaded. By turning the screw, the conductor is first wound around the rod 22 and then the conductor is clamped between the head 23 of the rod. the screw and the bottom of the housing 21.
