Apparatus for supplying a letter placement device from a device for sorting out mailpieces In the processing of mailpieces at post offices, machine tools are often used. In addition to devices for automatically sorting mail by destination, an important element is a device for readable positioning of the mail and a device for sorting out mail that is not suitable for machine handling because of its format or other properties.
These devices work together in such a way that the broadcasts given by the separating device with the properties suitable for further processing are brought to the input of the installation device in such a way that it can work without interruption. For this purpose, one or more stacking devices are switched in front of the installation device, from which the mail items are withdrawn individually.
The stacking devices are continuously refilled from the exit of the separating device. This is done, for example, by the fact that the items that occur at the exit of the separating device are fed in larger quantities to the decorative stacking device. However, there is also a desire to perform this task, which has previously been carried out by hand, with mechanical means.
The separating device has an output for the broadcasts. with the dimensions suitable for further processing. Since this exit is mostly a conveyor belt or some other device through which several shipments can leave the facility at the same time, it is difficult to connect this directly to a conveyor system, because several shipments can easily be brought onto this conveyor system on top of each other.
where blockages in the conveyor channel and 'disturbances in the system can occur.
For example, instead of the fully mechanized special device of a known type, a device can also be used which works with the help of a reading belt.
In small and medium-sized post offices in particular, the use of a fully mechanized installation device is not economical, since this device would only be in operation for a few hours a day due to its high efficiency. In addition, the installation of such a facility requires such a large space that many post offices would require major structural changes.
In such cases, it is sufficient to use a reading belt of a few meters in length, on the side of which there are some workstations and from which the mail items with the dimensions suitable for mechanical processing are taken down by hand and the conveyor to feed one or more buffer stackers are fed.
Here, too, the operators cannot easily put these broadcasts on a simple conveyor belt that passes their work station, since it can easily happen here too that an operator: will drop the broadcast at the point where the broadcasts are already from are in the hand of another operator on the conveyor belt.
The invention now provides: a device for supplying a letter set-up device from a device for separating out mechanically unprocessable mail with the aid of an edgewise conveyor device and a buffer stacker. In doing so, the upright conveyor has the following to accept the letters:
individual channels, which are arranged next to one another at the output of the device for separating ne and the outputs of which are offset from one another in the conveyor.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention.
In the example shown with the aid of the drawing, a separating device in the form of a hand-operated reading belt, two buffer stackers and a stand-up device are used.
The accumulating post from the letter box emptying is poured into the pouring trough 1. There the mail slides on a handy conveyor belt 2, which starts with a rise angle of 45o to gradually incline to 150, and which conveys the mail to the reading baud 3. Sorting takes place. There are operators on the reading belt 3, the last of whom controls the advance of the belts 2 and 3.
On the reading belt 3, packets, large formats, thick and very lobed consignments are thrown onto the conveyor belt 4 and brought to a collecting container, not shown. Consignments suitable for machine processing are inserted by the operators who say the assigned throw-in channels 5-8. Two of the throw-in channels 5, 6 or 7, 8 are led to a channel 9 or 10, the outputs of which are offset in the conveying direction (at 11).
This happens because the throw-in channels 6 and 7 are fed from the side to the conveying channel 9 and 10, respectively, while the throw-in channels 5 and 8 already form the ends of the channels 9 and 10.
At the end of the two channels 9 and 10 from weisbleche 11 are arranged, which provide an approximately correct overlap of the letters for the purpose of singling development. Behind these deflector plates are the separating devices 11a, which work as follows: A friction roller rotates at a certain speed in the conveying direction,
while a second rotates in the opposite direction at a slower speed than the first and is pressed on by a spring. This achieves: that only one letter is withdrawn at a time, followed by the others without a gap.
In order to achieve an intermediate space that is necessary for stacking, the conveying speed behind the separating device 11a is greater and the letters are pulled apart. The letters, which have now been singled out and placed at approximately the same spacing, are fed to the buffer stackers 14 and 15 by the conveyor lines 12 and 13.
If someone has reached a certain degree of filling in the buffer stackers 14 and 15, the letters are separated by the extraction nozzle (not shown) on the buffer stacker and fed to the letter placement device. If meanwhile. the second buffer stacker is full, the removal from: the: first is stopped and takes place from the second. There is therefore an intermittent operation depending on the filling level of the respective. Buffer stacker instead.
In order not to be able to lead correctly aligned letters on the longitudinal edge to the scanning members of the setting device, they are conveyed by inclined brush rollers 16 and thereby placed on their longitudinal edge. From the output of the erection device consists of .three parts, of which parts 17 and 18 record the correctly erected mail and part 19 the letters not to be classified.
Parts 17 and 18 are also followed by two buffer stackers for forwarding to coding or sorting stations, which are arranged so that their outputs deliver the mail items in a uniform position.
The invention also includes the fact that two or more devices for automatically loading a letter setting device can be present, each of which has approximately the same number of channels for receiving the mail items. Each of these devices then feeds a buffer stacker and these buffer stackers alternately indicate their mailings to: the letter setting device. It is also expedient to provide devices which have the effect that the individual buffer stacks are dismantled according to the degree of filling of the stacker.
