2a in zahlreiche kleine Felder 3 unterteilt. Fig. 4).
3' bzw.
Mosaic-like designed wall covering plate or panel made of plastic The innovation relates to a mosaic-like wall covering panel or panel made of plastic, the flat front side of which is divided into fields by crossing longitudinal and transverse grooves.
It has already been proposed several times to use plastic instead of the usual ceramic wall covering panels that can be easily produced in compression or injection molds with exactly the same dimensions and also easy to clean because of the sensitivity of the plastic to moisture and chemical influences are.
It is also already known to sub-divide wall covering panels or panels into smaller fields by provided on the flat front side of the panel or panel, intersecting longitudinal and transverse grooves in order to give them a mosaic-like appearance.
In the case of wall covering panels or panels made of plastic, the secure attachment of the panels to the wall makes greater difficulties, especially in the case of walls made of building materials whose temperature-dependent expansion coefficients do not match those of the plastics used to manufacture the panels or panels.
If the panels or panels are attached to the wall with a plastic adhesive, after a certain time the panels tend to detach themselves from the wall despite the adhesive bond, which is due to the occurrence of unequal temperature stresses in the panel and the wall is conditional. When fixing the plates with dowels and screws, unwanted bulges occur.
The present invention is based on the object of a mosaic-like wall covering plate or panel made of plastic, the flat front of which is divided into smaller fields by intersecting longitudinal and transverse grooves, so that the panel or panel extends through any type of wall Tried and tested plastic adhesive can be set securely and for the long term, whereby the mosaic character of the wall covering can be particularly emphasized by filling the grooves with a material of a different color.
The mosaic designed according to the invention designed wall covering slab or panel is characterized in that the fields are connected to each other by flat ribs of the same apex height on the back of the panel or panel corresponding to the grooves on the front, which are located between two fields From cut from the bottom of the grooves have outgoing longitudinal slot openings.
It has proven to be expedient to design the wall covering plate or panel to be produced using the pressing or spraying process, the overall dimensions of which correspond approximately to those of a conventional ceramic wall plate, in such a way that the rear sides of the relatively thin individual fields are recessed by a measure from the apex plane of the ribs, which corresponds approximately to the depth of the front grooves that protrude into the ribs.
The fixing of the wall covering panels or panels carried out according to the invention on a wall takes place, for. B. by vigorously pressing the plate or board on the thinly coated with the plastic adhesive, previously smoothed wall surface, with adhesion only to the flat vertices of the ribs of the plate, while below the rela tively thin fields of the plate or board shallow hollow rooms remain free.
The thin plate fields result in only small changes in length at changing temperatures, which can be compensated for by slight curvatures of the individual fields that are not noticeable due to their limitation to the small fields or elastic bending of the walls of the hollow ribs.
The adhesion of the panel or board to the wall is retained in any case. The longitudinal slot openings in the rear ribs improve the adhesion to the wall and the cavities prevent the sticking of the wall surface underneath the plates, which has been frequently observed when plastic wall covering panels are used, and which can initiate the detachment process.
The front grooves of the plate can be grouted with a fine mortar, which after it has hardened remains air-permeable at least to a certain extent and can in turn become firmly anchored in the longitudinal slit openings in the ribs.
In order to ensure a firm connection of the individual pieces through the ribs on the back of the plate or board. To achieve thin fields, the width of the flat ribs should be at least twice as large as the middle width of the grooves.
So that the wall covering panels or panels also adhere to the wall at their edges when they are glued to the wall surface and each have a distance from one another that corresponds exactly to the width of the grooves provided in the individual panels or panels, each panel or panel expediently receives a back side circumferential border,
whose height corresponds to that of the flat ribs and to which spacer strips are formed only when two edge sides of the plate or panel meet at right angles, which protrude laterally in the plane of the panel or panel back by an amount relative to the outer edges of the edge fields that is approximately equal to The width of the groove at the bottom of the groove is.
The spacer bars are expediently formed aasge only on every second of the corresponding edge fields in order to obtain longitudinal slots in the joints between adjoining plates or panels, in which the joint between the panels or panels is. can anchor ..
When the panels meet correctly, the shaped strips ensure that the groove width is even in the area of the butt joint.
The invention is explained in more detail by the accompanying drawing, in which an embodiment of a wall covering panel according to Invention is illustrated. In the drawing, Fig.l is a plan view of the front of the plate, Fig. 2 is a plan view of the back of the plate, Fig. 3 is a larger scale,
but a shortened top view of a side section of the rear side of the plate and FIG. 4 shows a section along the section line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
The wall covering plate 1 made of plastic, for example polystyrene, by injection molding is divided into numerous small fields 3 on its flat front side (FIG. 1) by crossing longitudinal and transverse grooves 2 and 2a. The grooves 2 and 2a on the front of the plate are deeper than the thickness d of the fields 3 (see. Fig. 4).
These thin fields 3 are connected to each other by running flat ribs 4, 4a on the back of the plate (see FIG. 2), "which have the same apex height s and in their respective sections lying between two fields from the bottom of the grooves extending longitudinal slot - have openings 5. The ribs 4, 4a are hollow ribs, the cavity being formed by the grooves 2, 2a.
From Fig. 4 it can be seen that the Rücksei th of the individual fields 3 opposite the apex plane S of the ribs 4, 4a are recessed by the amount a, which is approximately the depth t of the front grooves 2, 2a corresponds to; the mean width B of the flat ribs 4 is at least twice as large as the mean width b 'der for reasons. the production of slightly wedge-shaped grooves 2, 2a ..
The rear, circumferential edge delimitation 6, which is composed of the four edge ribs 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, has the same height as the ribs 4, 4a, so that the apex surfaces 7, 7a delimit the edge - Tongue ribs lie in the same apex plane S as the apex surfaces S of the inner ribs 4, 4a, which gradually merge into the edge delimitation.
While the lateral edges of the edge ribs 6a and 6b cut with the edges of the edge fields 3 ', narrow spacer strips 9 are formed on the two edge ribs 6c and 6d, which meet at right angles, roughly in the plane of the apex surfaces the ribs protrude laterally by a measure compared to the edges of the edge fields 3 ", which is approximately equal to the groove width at the bottom of the groove.
These strips 9, which are shaped only on every second edge field in order to also obtain longitudinal slots in the butt joints between the panels, but optionally also can be formed continuously over the entire edge, are attached to the smooth edge edges 6a or 6a when the wall covering panels are put together. 6b adjacent, already laid panels and ensure that the normal groove dimension is also available in the butt joint between two panels.
The wall covering panel according to the invention gives fer ner the opportunity to produce a color-changing mosaic after laying and sticking the panels in such a way that individual fields 3 are cut out of the panel, the cut being guided approximately in the axis of the longitudinal slot openings 5 is, and then in the hole created by removing the corresponding field inserts a different-colored field that is cut out from another plate accordingly.
When gluing the panels according to the invention to a wall made of wood, metal, bricks with plaster or any type of building board, the surface of which is smoothed if necessary, the wall surface is first coated thinly with synthetic resin adhesive, then the individual panels are side by side abutting with the apex surfaces 7,
7a of the Randbe limit and the apex surfaces 8 of the flat Rip pen firmly pressed onto the adhesive layer. Shallow cavities 10 remain free on the underside of the fields 3 or 3 'or 3 ", which allow the relatively thin fields to curve slightly inwards or outwards when thermal stresses occur between the plate and the wall. The cavities 10 also provide good thermal insulation through the air trapped in the cavities.
Then the front grooves 2, 2a of the laid panels and the joints between the panels are filled with a filling material, for example with a white cement mortar, and this is then smoothed. In order to be able to use the air permeability of the white cement mortar with porous walls, one can pierce through the longitudinal slot openings 5 with a knife-like tool before the mortar is introduced into the grooves, which breaks through the adhesive layer and thus creates the possibility of ventilation.
