Description
Sound-attenuating device for vacuum cleaners and similar devices It has already been proposed to line the free blowing space in a vacuum cleaner with sound-absorbing material in order to reduce the noise generated by the motor or the fan. However, the passage of the blown air must be secured so that the blower space is only lined on the inner walls.
The present invention creates a fully effective sound-absorbing device for vacuum cleaners and similar devices, which consists of a used in the blow chamber of the device housing, the cross-section of the same ben filling, but the blown air passage he possible body of sound absorbing material be. In this case, this sound-absorbing body can consist of loose, that is to say loose material, which is accommodated in a shaping and holding the material together the air-permeable envelope.
However, the body can also consist of one piece and have channels for the passage of the blown air that are either straight or wave-shaped and, if necessary, can also sit with different cross-sections.
In the accompanying drawing, some exemplary embodiments of the sound-damping device according to the invention are shown schematically.
In Fig. 1, 1 designates the housing, namely the air outlet side of a vacuum cleaner. In this Ge housing 1 an air outlet opening 2 is provided, which is covered by a screen 3 on the inside. In the blow chamber 4 is housed a muffler that completely fills its cross-section and consists of an envelope 5 in the manner of a fabric bag, which is filled with sound-absorbing material 6.
This material does not need to be fastened in the housing itself and can nevertheless have a flaky or similar state, since it is prevented from being carried along by the blown air through the casing 5.
2 shows another exemplary embodiment that is still more expedient per se. Here the muffler 7 consists of a solid body, for example made of polyurethane foam. In order to ensure the passage of air to the full, this sound-absorbing body 7 is provided with channels 8, which expediently run in the shape of a wave, but of course can also be straight. The diameters of these channels can either be the same or different.
The production of such a muffler body according to Fig. 2, d. H. the production of the channels running through this ver is extremely simple. Figs. 3 and 4 show a device for this.
This consists of a clamping device 9 into which a piece of foam 10 is inserted, whereupon the device is closed by means of a cover 11 before. Opposite passages 12 are located in parts 9 and 11, and the channels 13 can now be introduced into the foam piece 10 with the aid of punches.
Fig. 4 shows a modified form of such a device, wherein the inner side walls 14 of the device lower part 15 are wave-shaped. If the foam piece 10 is now inserted into the part 15 while being compressed and, as described above, the channels 16 are produced through the recesses 12 with the aid of punches,
so, after the foam body has been removed from the device and the body is expanded to its previous size, these will be undulating.
