According to the invention, the 1,2,4-triazine compounds of the specified type are used as light stabilizers z. B. used for a wide variety of organic materials.
Basically, three different types of application can be distinguished, which can be implemented separately or in combination. A. The light stabilizer is incorporated into a non-textile len substrate with the purpose of protecting this substrate from light attack by ultraviolet rays, with a change in one or more physical properties, such as e.g. B. discoloration, change in Reissfestig speed, brittleness, etc. and / or chemical reactions excited by ultra violet rays, such as. B. oxidation processes should be prevented.
The incorporation can take place before or during the production of the substrate or afterwards by a suitable process; z. B. by a fixation process, similar to a dyeing process, he follow.
B. The light stabilizer is incorporated into a non-textile len substrate to one or more substances incorporated into the substrate, such as. B. to protect dyes, auxiliaries, etc., whereby the substrate protection mentioned under A. can occur simultaneously.
C. The light stabilizer is> incorporated into a filter layer with the purpose of protecting a substrate directly below or at some distance (e.g. in a shop window) from the attack of ultraviolet rays, whereby the filter layer is solid (Film, foil, finish) or semi-solid (cream, oil, wax). can.
Materials that can be protected include: a) Varnishes and films of various compositions, e.g. B. those from Acetylcellülose, cellulose propionate, cellulose butyrate and cellulose mixtures, such as. B. cellulose acetate butyrate and cellulose acetate propionate, also nitrocellulose, vinyl acetate, poly vinyl chloride, copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride, alkyd paints, polyethylene, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile, polyester, etc.
A particularly important use for the 1,2,4-triazines of the specified composition is the incorporation in Ver packaging materials, in particular the known, transparent films made of regenerated cellulose (viscose) or acetyl cellulose. In this case, it is usually expedient to add the light stabilizer to the mass from which these films are made.
b) natural or synthetic resins, e.g. B. epoxy resins, polyester resins, vinyl resins, polystyrene resins, alkyd resins, aldehyde resins such as phenol, urea or melamine-formaldehyde condensation products, as well as emulsions made from synthetic resins (e.g. oil-in-water or water-in-oil - emulsions). Here, the light stabilizer can expediently be used before or during the polymerization or polycondensation. Further to the production of paper serving paper masses (z. B. Dutch masses).
It goes without saying that the 1,2,4 triazines are not only suitable as light stabilizers for un-colored, but also for colored or pigmented materials. The light protection also has an effect on the dyes, which in some cases results in a considerable improvement in light fastness. If necessary, the treatment with the light stabilizer and the coloring or pigmentation process can be combined with one another.
Depending on the type of organic material to be treated, requirements for effectiveness and durability and other circumstances can be. the amounts of the light stabilizer to be incorporated into the materials in question vary within fairly wide limits. As a rule, the amount is about 0.01 to 5, preferably 0.1 to 2, of the organic material which is to be protected directly against ultraviolet radiation.

contains, and about 5000 parts of water.
The paper made from this mass is placed in a bath made from 100 parts of a powdery, curable, water-soluble condensation product of 1 mole of melamine and about 2 moles of formaldehyde, and 100 parts by volume, a mixture that consists of a solution of 1 part of 1, 2,4-triazine compound of formula (32) was obtained in 19 parts by volume of ethanol by diluting with water to 100 parts by volume.
After removing the excess resin solution, the paper is dried.
The paper produced in this way is pressed onto a base consisting of tissue paper impregnated with melamine resin of the above composition, a layer of phenolic paper and filter paper impregnated with melamine resin of the above composition as an intermediate layer for 10 minutes at 140 to 150 and 75 kg per cm2 pressure .
After exposure to the fadeometer, the laminate obtained shows significantly better light fastness than one which does not contain the triazine compound of the formula (32). If the light protection agent used in the above example is only added to the melamine resin bath that is used to impregnate the tissue paper, a similarly good improvement in light fastness is obtained.
Example 4 10,000 parts of a polyamide in chip form prepared in a known manner from hexamethylenediamine adipate are mixed with 30 parts of titanium dioxide (rutile modification) and 50 parts of the compound of formula (1) or (30) in one Rolled container mixed for 12 hours. The chips treated in this way are melted in a kettle heated to 300-310 with oil, after displacement of the oxygen in the air by superheated steam, and stirred for half an hour. The melt is then pressed out through a spinneret under nitrogen pressure of 5 atmospheres and the filament spun and cooled in this way is wound onto a spinning bobbin.
The tensile strength of the threads obtained in this way after glue stretching declines much less under the influence of light than that of threads produced otherwise in the same way, but without the addition of the triazine compound of the formula (1) or (30).
For the use according to the invention of the 1,2,4-triazine compounds of the formula (2), protection is only claimed insofar as it is not a treatment of textiles for the purpose of their finishing which is considered for the textile industry.
