<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for the intermittent actuation of a valve on transportable aerosol packs. The invention relates to a device for the intermittent actuation of a valve on transportable aerosol packs by means of an actuation mechanism controlled by a timer.
Numerous agents intended for atomization are now marketed in portable aerosol packs. Usually, the pressurized agent in the pack is sprayed through a nozzle by manually operating a valve. Such means are used for. B. to improve the air in rooms, to kill insects or for similar purposes. However, the effect of the sprayed agent is often exhausted after a short time, and the valve must be actuated again by hand, which is cumbersome and time-consuming, especially if the agent is to be used, for example, in greenhouses.
Devices have therefore already become known which automatically ensure at predeterminable time intervals that a certain quantity of such an agent is sprayed into the air.
However, these known devices have the disadvantage of a complicated structure and the handiness.
The aim of the invention is to create an automatically operating, transportable aerosol pack which can be easily assembled from simple structural units and has only small dimensions.
To solve this problem, the invention is characterized in that the entire device for intermittent actuation, consisting of drive device, timer and actuating mechanism, is housed in a cylindrical housing adapted to the diameter of the pack and is removably fastened coaxially to the pack on its upper side, the actuating member the actuating mechanism, when the housing is placed, enters into a kinematic connection with the valve of the packing protruding from below into the housing.
Some embodiments of the device according to the invention are explained with reference to the drawings.
1 shows a partial view and a partial section of a first embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a partial section along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a partial section along the line 3-3 in FIG. 1, FIG a partial section of the line 4-4 in FIG. 1, FIG. 5 a schematic view of a second embodiment, FIG. 6 a partial view and a partial section of a third embodiment, FIG. 7 a partial view and a partial section of a fourth embodiment, FIG. 8 a Partial section along line 8-8 in FIG. 7.
The embodiment shown in Fig. 1 shows a commercially available aerosol pack 10, on which the device 12 is placed. This has a cylindrical housing 13 which is closed at the top by a cover part 18. The lower, cylindrical end 14 of the housing 13 is inserted tightly into a shoulder 15 of the aerosol pack 10. This paragraph 15 is formed within the flanged part of the lid of the aerosol bottle.
In the case intermediate plates 19, 20 and 21 are attached, which carry the clockwork of the device. Spacer bolts 22 and 23 are used to fasten these plates and consist of a bolt 24 over which spacer sleeves 25 are pushed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The device contains a clockwork and the actuating mechanism for the valve of the package. A strong tension spring 29 is tensioned by means of a hand wheel 27 over the winding shaft 28 protruding through the cover part 18. One end of the tension spring 29 is attached to the bolt 23. The main shaft 35 is driven via a ratchet arrangement 31, 32, 33.
A clockwork of conventional design with the gear train 37-47 and the escapement and control 48-62 determines the speed of the main shaft 35. This clockwork is arranged between the plates 19 and 20.
A clockwork brake 67 is attached to the plate 20. A lever 64 of this brake 67 protrudes through an opening 65 in the housing wall 13. A brake pin 66, which is arranged next to the balance wheel 57, can be brought into contact with the balance wheel by means of the lever 64 in order to stop it.
The actuation mechanism for the valve is arranged between the two plates 20 and 21. It contains an internally toothed wheel 70 which is fastened on the main shaft 35 and which, due to the design of the clockwork in this exemplary embodiment, makes one revolution every four hours. It drives a pinion 71 which is rotatably arranged on the axis 72 and which in this case rotates one revolution per hour. The pinion 71 drives a gear 73 attached to the shaft 74, which rotates two times in one hour. A cam disk 75 is attached to the shaft 74 and, as can be seen from FIGS. 3 and 4, has two cams 76 and 77 which are arranged offset by 180.
A fastening part 79, which has a support part 82, is arranged on the cylindrical part 80 on the cup-like part 16 of the aerosol pack 10. The nozzle part 81 of the valve actuating device 78 is inserted into this support part 82. The nozzle part 81 is placed on the valve tube 11. A channel leads from the valve tube 11 to the nozzle 83 in this part 81. When the nozzle ax 81 is pivoted, a conventional valve (not shown) is opened and the substance is sprayed through the nozzle 83. The spray jet passes through an opening 84 in the housing wall 13 from the device into the surrounding space.
The nozzle part 81 has a cam 85 (FIGS. 1, 3 and 4) which is directed in the direction of the shaft 74. The cams 76, 77 and 85 and the distance between the shaft 74 and the nozzle part 81 are selected so that when the shaft 74 rotates, the cams 76 and 77 respectively engage the cam 85 and the nozzle part 81 is pivoted.
Since the shaft 74 performs two revolutions per hour and the cam disk 75 has two cams, the valve is turned four times per hour. open. The opening time and speed depend on the design of the cams. This is selected so that the valve is opened and closed in a manner that is adapted to the design of the valve, so that the jet is sprayed in a favorable manner and for a useful duration.
Another embodiment is shown in FIG. 5, in which the valve, not shown, is designed such that it opens when it is axially displaced downward. On a main shaft 35, which in a suitable manner, for. B. is driven as described above, an externally toothed gear 87 is attached. The gear wheel 87 drives a pinion 88 which is attached to a shaft 89 on which a bevel gear 90 is also arranged. A horizontally lying shaft 92 mounted in two bearings 93, 93 ′ fastened on the plate 21 carries a bevel pinion 91 which is in engagement with the bevel gear 90. The nozzle part 81 is arranged under a cam disk 94. The cam disk 94 is mounted on the shaft 92 and has two cams 95 and 96.
These cams are designed in such a way that by pressing down the nozzle part 81 they open and close the valve at a suitable speed so that a perfect jet is sprayed.
The described arrangement sets the cam disk 94 in continuous rotation and opens and closes the valve by means of the cams 95 and 96 according to their number and the number of rotations of the shaft at certain time intervals.
A third embodiment is shown in FIG. 6, the clockwork of which is similar to that shown in FIG. The tension spring 29 drives a spur gear 91, which meshes with a pinion 92, via a ratchet and ratchet drive 90. The pinion 92 is mounted on the shaft 93 which is journalled in the plates 18 and 21 and extends through the plates 19 and 20. A gear 94 is arranged on the shaft 93 and meshes with the gear 95 of the clockwork. The clockwork regulates the speed in a known manner - the shaft 93, the z.
B. carries out one revolution per hour. In addition, a spur gear 96 is fastened on the shaft 93 and is in engagement with a pinion 97 located on the shaft 98. The shaft 98 rotates two times an hour and has a disk 99 fastened to it.
The disk 99 can: have cams that are designed like those shown in FIG. 4 or that have some other suitable shape so that when the disk 99 is rotated at certain time intervals, they come into engagement with the cam follower on the disk 100 and the valve located on the nozzle and valve stem 1:01. actuate so that a suitable jet is sprayed.
The disks 99 and 100 can also be designed as gear wheels, so that the disk 100 is then continuously rotated and z. B. at certain time intervals two openings in the valve, not shown, can be overlapped so that a jet is sprayed out.
The spring 29 is wound by means of the winding handwheel 27 and it is wound in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Position held by the locking mechanism 90. The spring 29 must have sufficient power reserve to operate the valve via the gear and cam mechanism described, the clockwork and the various gear ratios as well as the number of cams on the disc 99 determine the number of actuations of the valve per unit of time.
In the exemplary embodiments described so far, the valve is held in the closed position by a spring when the cams are disengaged. But it is also possible that the cams keep the valve closed under tension as long as they are in engagement with one another, and that the valve is opened when they are disengaged.
A further embodiment is shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, in which a cam disk 110 is set in rotation in a suitable manner by a mechanism not shown in detail. One end of a spring 111 slides on the cam disk. The spring 111 is wound around the bolt 112 and fastened to the work plate 113. The cam disk 110 has a recess 114 which has a steep and a flat flank. The branch of the spring extending from the bolt 112 to the cam disk 110 is bent at its end and slides with the bent end on the cam disk 110. This branch of the spring actuates a nozzle part similar to that shown in FIG.
This embodiment has the advantage that a weaker drive mechanism can be used, since the spring is slowly tensioned depending on the design of the flanks of the recesses 114 and then has sufficient force stored to suddenly open the valve when the cam disk is rotated so far that the bent part of the spring can move into the recess. The actuation of the valve by a slowly tensioned spring also enables a battery-powered electric motor to be used to drive the device.
In this embodiment, another type of attachment for the actuation mechanism to the aerosol can is shown. Here, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, the housing 13 is not connected to the aerosol pack. A lower plate 130 has a largely cylindrical, hollow extension 131 which is pushed over a cylindrical part of the aerosol pack located in the region of the valve and is clamped to it. The cylindrical part 131 is preferably made in one piece with the plate 130 from plastic and has axial slots 132. On its clamping part it has an outer annular groove 133 into which a spiral spring 135 can be inserted in order to increase the contact pressure.
The clockwork with the cam and spring actuation mechanism is fastened to the plate 130 as a complete structural unit by means of bolts. The cylindrical housing 134 is attached to the plate 130. The cover of the housing is here also designed as an actuating handwheel 127 for the spring.
This construction creates a modular arrangement which allows different drive mechanisms to be combined optionally with different actuating devices, whereby a drive mechanism of the same size can also be used for differently sized housings 134 and various aerosol packs. Simplified storage and a sensible combination according to the requirements of the various aerosol packs is thus possible, without having to build a special actuating device for each aerosol pack type.
It is also possible to make the fastening part exchangeable.
In the embodiments described, a mechanical clockwork was shown as the drive for the actuation mechanism of the valve. It is of course also possible to arrange an electric clockwork. B. Contain a synchronous motor.
The clockwork can be fed from a network or a battery can be installed in the device. of the electric clockwork. Furthermore, it is expedient to equip the device with means for setting the time interval between the actuation of the valve and / or with means for setting a duration of actuation of the valve of different lengths.
This can be done, for example, by changing the speed of the electric motor. Man. can also provide a change gearbox and thus change the rotational speed of the cams. It is more precisely possible to arrange the cam disk interchangeably, so that it can be exchanged for cam disks with different numbers of cams or with cams with a different slope of the flanks.
The pitch of the cams can then be adapted to the substance used and the design of the valve, so that the optimal conditions for spraying the jet are achieved. Other means known in clockworks for changing the speed of the cam disk can also be arranged.
Finally, the fastening device by means of which the device is fastened to the aerosol pack can be interchangeable, so that it can be easily adapted to the different types of aerosol packs and a similar actuation mechanism can be used for many aerosol packs.
