Device for the automatic display of leaks in liquid containers
The subject of the present invention is a device for the automatic display of leaks in liquid containers, in which a sensing tube is built into the liquid container, the lower end of which is open and the upper end is connected to a differential pressure manometer, the membrane of which is in contact actuated, which controls a circuit for triggering alarm indicators. This device is characterized by great accuracy with a simple design and practical mode of operation.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section through a liquid container and the device for automatic display of leaks in the same, and
FIG. 2 is a partial view of FIG. 1 on a larger scale and with parts broken away.
The liquid container 1 is wholly or partially with the liquid to be stored 2, for. B. heating oil filled. In its cover 3, next to a filler neck 4, there is a vent line 5. This is screwed to a threaded pipe piece 8 by means of a welded-on annular flange 6 (Fig. 2) and a threaded pipe piece 7 welded to the latter, which in turn is welded to the container lid 3. The part of the vent line 5 reaching into the container 1 is closed off by a transverse wall 9 and has lateral openings 10 through which the vent line 5 communicates with the space above the liquid 2 of the container 1.
The extension of the vent line 5 extending downward from the transverse wall 9 to near the bottom of the container 1 forms a feeler tube 11 which is open at the bottom and separated from the vent line 5 at the top by the transverse wall 9, but with a connecting line 12 connected to the transverse wall 9 communicates with a copper pipe.
This line 12 passes through the vent line 5 by means of a stuffing box 13 and is connected at the other end to a differential pressure manometer 14, which has a membrane on one side of which the pressure in the probe tube 11 and the line 12 acts. The membrane is inserted in a double-conical housing and can therefore be used to measure both positive and negative pressure.
A lever system with a working lever and a contact lever is connected to the membrane of the manometer 14. The lever system is a drag pointer system in which the working lever moves back separately from the contact lever while the liquid is being withdrawn from the container 1, while the contact lever designed as a drag pointer remains on the measured value. This means that any loss of fluid can be stored and added to the following losses. The lever system of the manometer 14 actuates a contact which is located in a circuit which is led by electrical lines 15 to the signaling device 16, which can be attached at any distance and at any suitable location. The signaling device 16 has a star indicator and an automatically interrupting flashing light for visual display.
A contact is attached to the axis of the indicator which closes a circuit for the flashing light and an acoustic alarm.
In the connecting line 12 from the probe tube 11 to the manometer 14, an overpressure valve 17 is built, through which the overpressure that arises when filling the container 1 can be compensated.
The overpressure opens the valve 17 and allows air to escape until normal pressure is reached.
When the filling is complete, the valve 17 initially only partially closes so that fine compensation can take place. The valve 17 only closes completely when a complete pressure equalization has been established.
Furthermore, a three-way valve (not shown) is built into the connecting line 12 and is also connected to the vent line 5. In the normal position of this three-way valve, the connecting line between probe tube 11 and pressure gauge 14 is open. This three-way valve is a solenoid valve and it is operated when the liquid pump, i. H. reversed when liquid is withdrawn so that the feeler tube 11 is connected to the vent line 5. The manometer is not activated here. A test button can also be switched on in the actuation circuit for the solenoid valve.
When the same is opened, the alarm device is actuated even with normal liquid withdrawal and its mode of operation can therefore be checked.
In the event of a leak in the container 1, a negative pressure arises in the gas space of the sensing tube 11, which acts on the highly sensitive membrane of the manometer 14 via the connecting line 12. The membrane movement is integrated in the manometer and, when a certain maximum value is reached, the circuit for triggering the display elements of the signaling device 16 is closed. When liquid is normally withdrawn, the aforementioned three-way valve is switched over and the pressure gauge 14 is not influenced.
