Squirrel cage motor Attempts have already been made to reduce the starting torque of squirrel cage motors by appropriate choice of the shape of the head of the cage armature, by the type of accommodation of the conductor, by choosing the size of the conductivity of the conductor or by covering the conductor with magnetic material improve. However, all these previously known measures increase the impedance of the cage and reduce the efficiency of the motor during normal operation.
The present invention avoids these parts after, facilitates the heat transfer from the rotor rods and improves the starting properties of the Mo sector without adversely affecting the motor properties at full load or overload.
The squirrel cage motor according to the invention is characterized by an envelope body made of non-magnetizable metal, which encloses the two ends of the cage armature, and electrical Isola tion, through which each enveloping body is isolated from the end of the cage.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawing. 1 shows a first, FIG. 2 a second and FIG. 3 shows a third embodiment with representation of only one end of the rotor of a motor according to the invention.
According to FIG. 1, the rotor mounted on a shaft 1 consists of lamellae 2, which are held between end plates 3: The ends of the conductor bars 4, which protrude in the axial direction over the laminated core 2, are connected to one another by means of an end ring 5 so that they form a cage winding in a known manner. According to the invention, the ends of the rotor body are covered by a body 6 made of non-magnetic material, which preferably has a high electrical conductivity, such as. B. aluminum or aluminum alloy.
An electrically insulating layer 7 is provided between the metal shell 6 on the one hand and the end of the cage and the end of the rotor body on the other hand. If the shell is made of cast aluminum, the insulating layer 7 can be an aluminum oxide coating which is formed when the hot aluminum is cast in air around the end of the cage.
The sheath 6 does not have to extend as far as the rotor body, but can, as indicated by the dash-dotted line 8, end at a distance from the rotor body.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the sheath 6 is cast around a metal sleeve 9 made of non-magnetic material. In the rotor body cooling channels 10 are provided and the sleeve 9 is conical, the end lying at the laminated rotor 2 has a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the circle which is placed outside the cooling channels. The diameter of the end 11 of the liner 9 facing away from the laminated rotor core 2 is smaller. In this way, a large cross section is created for the body 6 without the flow of cooling air leading through the channels 10 being hindered.
As in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the shell does not have to extend to the rotor body, but can end in a stand from this, as indicated by the dashed line 8.
In a further embodiment, the sheath for embedding the winding heads is not cast, but is assembled around these heads and, as FIG. 3 shows, can consist of two rings 12, 13 of L-shaped cross-section which fit together so that they encompass the end ring 5 of the cage winding and the end parts of the guide rods 4. The rings 12 and 13 are held together and on the cage by clamping screws 14 and can be made of copper or some other non-magnetic material.
The layer 7 can be any suitable insulating material, such as e.g. B. glass fiber material or a temperature-resistant paint.
Although certain exemplary embodiments have been described, it is to be understood that certain details can be changed without thereby departing from the scope of the invention as outlined in the appended claims. The cage itself can be of any known shape. Instead of the above-mentioned aluminum oxide coating, insulation made of glass, oxide, mica dust or a synthetic material that is resistant to high temperatures can be used.
Obviously, the metal shell increases the heat capacity of the motor and a motor according to this invention can better than conventional designs withstand stalling or overloading of the motor for limited times.
