Process for the preparation of primary amines
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of new primary amines of the formula
EMI1.1
wonn R, an alkyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical with 2 to 4 carbon atoms or an amino group optionally substituted by one or two optionally further substituents bearing alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radicals, R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Hal mean a halogen by adding a compound of the formula
EMI1.2
treated with halogenating agents.
The new compounds are valuable intermediates for the manufacture of dyes and drugs.
In the following example, parts are parts by weight and percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius and the melting points are uncorrected.
example
46 parts of 2-amino-6-methylsulfonylbenzothiazole are dissolved in a hot mixture of 766 parts of glacial acetic acid and 144 parts of propionic acid. The resulting solution is cooled to 0 while stirring, the amine precipitating in fine form and a mixture of 35 parts of bromine in 50 parts of glacial acetic acid and 10 parts of propionic acid are added in portions. The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight and then at 1000 for one hour. The yellow bromination product formed is filtered off at room temperature, it is washed thoroughly with glacial acetic acid and then with water and dried at 1000 in vacuo. The crude 2-amino -4-bromo-6-methylsulfonyl-benzothiazole obtained melts at 2780; it is insoluble in alcohol and sparingly soluble in hot glacial acetic acid.
