The dyes are suitable for dyeing a wide variety of materials, such as textiles, paper or leather. As has also been found, the dyes which are free from sulfonic acid or carboxylic acid groups produce dyeings on materials made from polyacrylonitrile which are distinguished by particularly good fastness properties.
The parts given in the following examples are parts by weight.
Example 1: 42.8 parts of pyridine-2-aldehyde are dissolved in 50 parts of alcohol and 48.8 parts of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine are added dropwise. As soon as the exothermic reaction has ended, the reaction mixture is refluxed for 3 hours. The solvent is then distilled off and the color base, which soon solidifies in a crystalline manner, is recrystallized from cyclohexane. 21.1 part of the obtained pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmehtylhydrazonsvomMp 64-6SoC are dissolved in 1000 parts of boiling water with the addition of 18 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid (d = 1.19), the solution is clarified with activated charcoal and the dye salt is then clarified with sodium chloride salted out.
The dye thus obtained gives a greenish yellow coloration on materials made of polyacrylonitrile, which is outstandingly lightfast.
If, in the above example, N, N-diphenylhydrazine is used instead of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine and the procedure is otherwise the same, pyridine-2-aldehyde-diphenylhydrazone (melting point 114-116 ° C.) is obtained, which is in can be converted into the dye salt in the manner described above.
Instead of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine, N-phenyl-N-benzylhydrazine, N-phenyl-N-butylhydrazine or N-phenyl-N-chloroethylhydrazine can be used with the same success, and dye salts are obtained, which are polyacrylonitrile materials to dye real greenish yellow tones.
Example 2: 21.1 part of the pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone of melting point 64-68 ° obtained as described in Example 1 are dissolved in 150 parts of toluene at room temperature, mixed with 13.2 parts of dimethyl sulfate and slowly heated. At 450c the alkylated dye salt crystallizes out. The reaction mixture is heated further to 100 ° C., stirred for 3 hours on a boiling water bath and the alkylated dye salt is separated off after cooling.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The dye thus obtained produces a greenish yellow color on yarns and fabrics made of polyacrylonitrile
Coloring of excellent lightfastness.
If the pyridine-2-aldehyde-diphenylhydrazone is used instead of the pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone and the procedure is otherwise the same, a dye is obtained that consists of materials
Polyacrylonitrile turns a very real greenish yellow.
Example 3: 60 parts of quinoline-2-aldehyde are dissolved in 60 parts of alcohol with warming, and 47.4 parts of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine are added dropwise. The mixture is heated to boiling under reflux for 3 hours and then cooled, the quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone formed separating out in pale yellow crystals; after recrystallization from methanol, they show a melting point of 105 to 10 ° C. To convert it into the color salt, 26.1 part is dissolved in 1500 parts of boiling water with the addition of 18 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid and, after the solution has cooled, it is salted out with sodium chloride. On materials made of polyacrylonitrile, the dye gives a reddish yellow color
Coloring which has very good fastness properties.
If, in the above example, N, N-diphenylhydrazine is used instead of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine and the procedure is otherwise the same, quinoline-2-aldehyde-diphenylhydrazone is obtained (melting point 184-1850C). Instead of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine, N-phenyl-N-benzylhydrazine, N-phenyl-N-ethylhydrazine or N-phenyl-N-cyclohexylhydrazine can also be used with the same success.
In the manner described above, dye salts are obtained which dye materials made of polyacrylonitrile in a reddish-tinged yellow with excellent fastness properties.
Example 4: 26.1 parts of the quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone prepared according to Example 3 are dissolved in 150 parts of toluene with heating, 13.2 parts of dimethyl sulphate are added dropwise and the mixture is gradually heated to 1000 ° C., with the separation immediately starts from crystals of the alkylation product. The reaction mixture is warmed on a boiling water bath for 3 hours and then cooled. The alkylated dye salt can be further purified by dissolving it in water and salting out with common salt.
The dye dyes yarns and fabrics made of polyacrylonitrile in yellow shades with very good lightfastness.
If the quinoline-2-aldehyde-diphenylhydrazone is used instead of the quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone and the procedure is otherwise the same, a dye is obtained which dyes the fibers of polyacrylonitrile in a reddish yellow with very good lightfastness.
Example 5: 19.8 parts of azomethine, which is obtainable by heating 1,2-dimethylbenzthiazolium methosulfate and 4-nitrosodimethylaniline in alcoholic solution with the addition of piperidine. are heated with 100 parts of 10% hydrochloric acid on a boiling water bath until the blue-violet color has disappeared. Then 6.1 parts of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine are added, and the reaction mixture is stirred for a further hour on a boiling water bath. It is clarified with animal charcoal, cooled and the dye is salted out with table salt. For further purification, the dye is dissolved in 500 parts of water and, after cooling, it is again salted with common salt.
The dye stains materials made of polyacrylonitrile in reddish yellow shades with very good fastness properties.
With the same success, you can also use N, N-diphenylhydrazine or N-phenyl-N-ethylhydrazine instead of N-phenyl-N-methylhydrazine and obtain dyes that dye yarns and fabrics made of polyacrylonitrile in very real reddish yellow tones.
Example 6: 10. 6 parts of pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone (melting point 64-680C) are dissolved in 60 parts of toluene at room temperature. Then 7.7 parts of diethyl sulfate are added dropwise and the reaction mixture is heated to the boil. After refluxing for 3 hours, the crystal slurry formed is cooled and the dye is isolated. The dye, which is very easily soluble in water, colors materials made of polyacrylonitrile a greenish yellow. The dyeings are characterized by excellent lightfastness.
Example 7: 6, 9 parts of pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone are dissolved in 40 parts of toluene at 200.degree. Then 4.2 parts of allyl bromide are added dropwise and the mixture is heated to boiling. The initially oily precipitate soon becomes crystalline. The mixture is then refluxed for 5 hours and the reaction mixture is cooled. The sucked off dye is further purified by dissolving it in water, clarifying with active charcoal and salting out with 200 common salt. It colors materials made of polyacrylonitrile in a greenish yellow with excellent fastness properties.
Example 8: 10.6 parts of pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone and 40 parts of benzyl chloride are mixed and heated to 1400 ° C. for 5 hours. The reaction product is placed in a steam flask, 500 parts of water are added and the excess benzyl chloride is distilled off with steam.

lates. The remaining dye solution is clarified with activated charcoal and the dye is salted out with common salt. The mixture is stirred overnight, filtered off with suction and washed with 250 parts of saturated sodium chloride solution.
The dye obtained in this way dyes yarns and fabrics made of polyacrylonitrile with a very real green tinge
Yellow.
If quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone is used in place of
Pyridine-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone with benzyl chloride, the result is a dye which dyes materials made of polyacrylonitrile in a reddish yellow with very good fastness properties.
Example 9: 13.1 parts of quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone are dissolved in 60 parts of toluene at 50 ° C. with heating. Then 8.1 parts of diethyl sulfate are added dropwise to the reaction mixture.
The mixture is heated to the boil and the mixture is allowed to reflux for 6 hours, a crystalline precipitate gradually forming. The mixture is then cooled, the dyestuff is filtered off with suction and cleaned by dissolving it in water, clarifying the solution with activated charcoal and then isolating the dyestuff by adding sodium chloride. The dye dyes polyacrylonitrile fibers in a reddish tinge
Yellow with excellent fastness properties. i Example 10: 10.0 parts of quinoline-2-aldehyde-phenylmethylhydrazone and 15.0 parts of butyl bromide are melted in a bomb tube and heated to 1400 ° C. in a shooting furnace for 3 hours. After cooling, the reaction mixture is discharged into a steam flask, 1000 parts of water are added and the excess butyl bromide is distilled off with steam.
The remaining dye solution is filtered hot and, after cooling, salted out with 10% sodium chloride. The isolated dye is further purified by dissolving it in water, clarifying with activated charcoal and precipitating with 10% common salt. He colors materials
Polyacrylonitrile in a reddish yellow with excellent fastness properties.
