Les fig. 1 à 7 sont des schémas représentant les diférents stades d'un cycle complet pris au départ de la mise en route d'une fabrication;
chaudes et très plastiques du tube 10 (fig. 3);
filière de l'extrudeuse (fig. 5);
(fig. 6);

Method and machine for forming a hollow body,
its filling and closing
Hollow bodies, such as bottles or flasks, made by blowing a tubular sheath of extruded plastic material; need to be taken back, usually after shipment from the manufacturer to the user, to be filled by the last oe and closed by welding their neck.
These various operations, in particular the manufacture of the hollow bodies and their filling, therefore constitute two very distinct operations which are carried out separately and entail significant storage, handling and, often also, transport costs between these two operations.
The present invention relates to a method making it possible to overcome this drawback. The process which is the subject of it makes it possible, in fact, to manufacture the hollow body by blowing an extruded plastic tube, to fill it and to close it by automatic operations which are all carried out continuously.
This process is characterized in that it takes advantage of the state of plasticity of the tube which will form, by blowing, the following hollow body, to constitute, by the lower part of this tube, the neck of the adjoining hollow body which has been formed during the previous cycle and ensure, simultaneously, the self-sealing closure.
The invention also relates to the machine allowing the implementation of this method, this machine being characterized in that the head of the extruder comprises, inside the tube serving to supply the blowing air, a coaxial central tube. through which the filling liquid arrives after blowing the hollow body.
The attached schematic drawing represents by way of example an embodiment of the invention:
Figs. 1 to 7 are diagrams representing the diferent stages of a complete cycle taken from the start of production;
fig. 8 represents, on a larger scale and although in a summary manner, the detail of the head of the extruder.
In these drawings
la-lb designate the two opening parts of the mold, 2 a platform animated by an alternating vertical upward and downward movement and 3 the actual head of the extruder.
This head is formed in the usual way of a capacity in which is pulsed, either by a worm 4 or by a piston, heated plastic material to be brought to the pasty state.
The annular ejection orifice is formed by a nozzle 5 and a tube 6 which is coaxial with it.
This tube 6 emerges through the head 3 and is connected to the blowing 7 of pressurized air.
Another tube 8 is still located axially inside the aforementioned one 6 and it is connected at 9 to the supply of the liquid to be conditioned.
Starting from the start of production, the various successive cycles are as follows - with the mold open, the extruder delivers a
determined length of tube 10 (fig. 1) - the mold closes by pinching the end at 10a
of this tube which is thus closed at its base
and connected at 10b to the plastic part
not yet expelled from the die (fig. 2); - pressurized air is admitted at 7 and the body
hollow 1 1 is formed by expansion of the walls
hot and very plastic of the tube 10 (fig. 3);
- we admit in 9 the quantity of liquid 12 in front
fill the hollow body 11 and, simultaneously, we
has dropped the internal air pressure in inter
breaking the communication in 7 and putting it
to the atmosphere, so as to allow the air to
escape as it is filled in
liquid (fig. 4); - the mold opens and platform 2 rises to
receive and support the hollow body 11, filled and
not yet closed, but still connected to the game
10b of the tube which has not yet come out of the
extruder die (fig. 5);
- the extruder starts to discharge from the tube again
time that, if necessary, platform 2 of the
ash by supporting the hollow body It without
the state of the latter is modiFied at the end of the stroke,
a new length of tube 13 being thus for
mée and being suspended from the material part
plastic 13b not yet out of the extruder
(fig. 6);
- the mold then closes and this professional closure
evokes the pinching and welding of this new
tube 13 in 13a, so that the 10h part
who had remained in the sector during the training
tion and filling of the hollow body 11, cons
titute the neck of this hollow body 11, this pinching and
this welding in 1 3a ensuring, simultaneously, the
closure of the new tube 13, i.e. the
closing the bottom of the hollow body that will be,
in the next cycle, formed by blowing this
tube 13.
In other words, - and this is what constitutes the essential characteristic of this process - the neck 10b of the body 11 is not formed at the same time as the latter and before fluffing, but only during the following extrusion, in such a way that it is presented to the weld in a hot and very plastic state allowing this welding to take place instantly, without requiring reheating.
A continuous line of filled and closed hollow bodies is thus produced, the separation of which can be ensured either by the actual closing of the mold, or subsequently by an auxiliary slicing or tearing system, the zone 13a of the weld having caused, by flattening, an area of least resistance. These hollow bodies could also remain connected to each other.
Apart from its essential advantage of the manufacture of this hollow body, of their filling and of their continuous closing on the same machine, this process has the following other advantages:
a) the neck of the filled hollow body is closed on a part of the tube which has just been formed and which is still hot, therefore does not require reheating,
b) the liquid filling tube which is located in the center of the die core is not in contact at any point with the hot plastic material and it is, moreover, cooled by the blowing air which licks the wall thereof external,
c) all operations are carried out under overpressure with respect to the outside, so that if a sterile gaseous fluid is used for the blowing and if the filling liquid is itself brought sterile,
packaging is produced in which the liquid remains in this sterile state.
