La fig. 1 représente la partie mécanique du dis positif de mémoire d'un appareil téléindicateur du genre décrit dans 1e brevet ci-dessus mentionné, ce dispositif de mémoire comportant sur un tambour 1 un support d'enregistrement constitué par une bande magnétique sur laquelle une tête de lecture 2 co- opère avec une piste 3 comportant l'enregistrement de l'indicatif de l'appareil ;
une tête de lecture des uni tés 4 coopère avec un groupe 5 de dix pistes s'éten dant sur un premier tiers de la circonférence du tam bour et comportant l'enregistrement préalable des différentes valeurs d'unités ;
une tête 6 des dizaines coopère avec un groupe 7 de dix pistes s'étendant sur un deuxième tiers de la circonférence du tambour et portant les enregistrements des diverses valeurs de dizaines (ou dizièmes) ;
Une horloge (non représentée) provoque à des heures déterminées la fermeture d'un contact 70, qui ferme le circuit d'un relais 71 d'enregistrement de mémoire. Ce relais comporte un contact de mar che 71M et un contact 71K commandant, par un circuit comprenant les contact 54J et 68K, la ferme ture du relais<B>52:</B> celui-ci commande en 521 la com mutation de la ligne téléphonique 51 sur un circuit de bouclage 73 à résistance-capacité, en 52K la fer meture d'un relais d'enregistrement<B>75,</B> en<B>52L</B> la fermeture du relais 54 de commutation, en 52J la fermeture du relais 66 d'inversion de marche du mo teur 40 ;
Ce relais, qui se maintient par son contact 58M et par le contact de repos de l'in verseur 451, enclenche par son contact 58K<B>le</B> reliais 54 de commutation de la ligne. Ce relais provoque par ses contacts 54L la commutation de la ligne sur la sortie de l'amplificateur 50 et par son contact 54A l'alimentation de cet amplificateur ;<B>l</B>e relais 54 se maintiendra par son contact 54M, dès le bascule- ment de l'inverseur 451;
The present invention relates to a remote indicator device for the value of a variable quantity. This device makes it possible to transmit, for example, by telephone or radio, the value of a variable magnitude such as a level, a pressure, a flow, etc.
The proprietor described in Swiss patent No. <B> 372230 </B> filed the same day under the title K Apparatus for the remote transmission of the value of at least one variable quantity, an apparatus comprising means for indicating the value of this quantity, a recording medium bearing the prior records of all the values likely to be indicated by this indicating means,

The three heads 4, 6 and 8 are respectively placed opposite one or the other of the tracks of their respective group by respective position selector mechanisms indicated schematically at 11, 12, 13 depending on the position of a means indicating or following the instantaneous value of the variable quantity (not shown).
The drum 1 is placed on a .arbre 14 -and on this same shaft is fixed a drum 15 carrying a magnetic tape 16 called memory tape, a series, for example of ten recording and reading tracks, being able to be determined on this tape by the position of an assembly 17 comprising a recording and reading head (E / L), and an erasing head (Ef f)
. These heads are carried at the end of an arm 18 linked to a sliding rod 19 guided by bearings 20, 21, the axial position of this rod being determined by a finger 22 disposed at one end of a lever 23 journalled on a axis 24, the other end of this lever carrying a roller 25 cooperating with the steps of a cylindrical cam 26, called a stepped wheel, mounted idly on the shaft 14.
This wheel 26 is integral with a toothed wheel 27 which is engaged by means of a counter transfer pinion 28, with a wheel 29 with two teeth wedged on the shaft 14, so as to advance by one. tenth of a turn at each revolution of the shaft 14. The shaft 14 drives in one direction by means of a pawl 30, a set of mechanical members not detailed in FIG. 1 and intended to ensure the various switching operations during normal transmissions.
A return spring (not shown) urging the roller 25 in contact with the wheel 26, the axial position of the rod 19, therefore of the heads 17, is determined at all times by the angular position of the wheel 26: the transmission 27- 28-29 ensures that at each revolution of the main shaft 14, the wheel 26 undergoes a rotation of 36.1, this rotation occurring at the start for example of each revolution of the shaft 14 from a rest position clearly defined, in the normal direction (arrow in solid line, clockwise).
Any step is thus replaced at the start of each turn of the shaft 14 by the next step. It is easy to see that this substitution could just as well take place at the end of each revolution of the main shaft: operation would remain unchanged.
Fig. 2 shows the arrangement of the bearings of the wheel 26: these steps occupying in the example considered ten different levels PO to P9, we see that instead of a succession according to the order of their increasing levels 0, 1 , 2 ... 8, 9, we have adopted here a nested succession scrolling during a complete rotation of the levels of the levels or ranks, for example odd first (P1-P3-P5-P7-P9) then even levels (P8-P6-P4-P2-PO).
Such an arrangement offers the advantage of allowing the stepped wheel to move in stages in one or the other of the two directions of rotation without ever the height of the step separating two adjacent bearings exceeding two units, whereas in the case of the arrangement in the order of the levels (0, 1,2 ...
8, 9) it is obvious that the step separating levels 9 and 0 should have had a height equal to the sum of all the steps, i.e. nine units in the case considered, thus imposing a ramp that is difficult for the follower to cross for a limited angle of rotation.
It is also evident that the corresponding imbridged arrangement which results therefrom for the tracks successively formed on the strip 16 presents absolutely no drawback, their exploration always taking place under the control of the stepped wheel 26.
Finally, it will be noted that this advantageous arrangement will also be adopted for the grained wheels of the selector mechanisms 11, 12, 13 of the read heads 4, 6, 8: it is in this form that they were represented in the patent. of the same date mentioned above.
On the diagram of fig. 3 (where the broken lines relate in principle to the memory part of the device) one recognizes in 1 the main drum cooperating with, on the one hand, the reading head 2 of the callsign and the heads 4, 6 and 8 for reading tens and hundreds units respectively.
The drum 15 of the memory device cooperating with the group of heads 17 for erasing (Eff) and (E / L) is shown at the top and to the left of the figure. These two drums are, as we have seen,
wedged on a shaft 14 which is driven by a motor 40 with two directions of rotation and which carries a so-called stop cam 41 actuating a switch 41I and a so-called position cam 42 actuating an inverter 421. Thanks to an appropriate reduction , the motor 40, when supplied, makes the shaft 14 make one revolution in seven seconds, for example. By a transmission not detailed, the shaft 14 drives in - its movement, but in one direction only (pawl 30, fig. 1), a secondary shaft 14A at half speed (one revolution in fourteen seconds for example) and a tertiary shaft 14B at a speed twenty times slower (one revolution in 140 seconds for example).
The shaft 14A carries a so-called read code cam 43 and a so-called end signal cam 44. It will be noted that the cam 43 is arranged so as to place in one or the other of its positions during the two halves of each turn an inverter 431 which ensures the connection to the input of an amplifier 50 of the head of 'indicative 2 in one of its positions and all read heads 4, 6, 8 in the other position.
Cam 44 closes a contact 44K for a fraction of each revolution, a fraction corresponding to a duration of three seconds for example.
The tertiary shaft 14B carries a so-called end-of-cycle cam 45, controlling on the one hand an interrupter 45K and on the other hand an inverter 451; a cam 46, called end of communication, actuating a switch 46K and a so-called read-memory cam 47 controlling an inverter 471.
A telephone line is assumed to be connected to the apparatus at terminals 51. This line is switched at rest of a contactor relay 52 at terminals 53 of an inverter 54L controlled by a relay 54, called a line switching relay.
The line is thus normally connected to the terminals of a call circuit comprising a series capacitor 55, a rectifier 56 and a call relay 57. The contacts 57K of the call relay control the closing of an intermediate relay 58 in parallel with a push button 59 for manual control. The intermediate relay 58 comprises a holding contact 58M slaved to the position of the inverter 451 and a contact 58K controlling the closing of the switching relay 54.
This relay 54 causes, by the already mentioned inverter 54L, the switching of the line at the output of the amplifier 50, and, by the switch 54A, closes the supply circuit thereof; its 54M contact commands a. holding circuit slaved to the inverter 451; the inverter 541 controls the circuit of a so-called head position relay 60, while the contact 54J forms a switch in a memory circuit described below.
The relay 60 in the working position controls the power supply to a motor 61 whose shaft 62 controls, by means not detailed, the positioning of the read heads 4, 6 and 8, at the same time as a cam. 64 which controls an inverter 641 as well as a switch 64K. This switch 64K controls the supply circuit of a so-called drum start-up relay 65, the contacts 65K of which control the supply circuit of the motor 40 from a source 40S, an inverter 661 being controlled by a relay 66 intended to allow a reversal of the direction of rotation of the motor 40.
A maintenance circuit of the reversing relay 66 comprises in series a contact 66J normally open of this same relay and a contact 65M normally open. <B> of </B> start-up relay 65. On the circuit controlled by switch 64K is placed an inverter 681 controlled by a relay 68 known as the head release preparation relay, this relay also controlling a 68K switch. .
A clock (not shown) causes at determined times the closing of a contact 70, which closes the circuit of a memory recording relay 71. This relay comprises an ON contact 71M and a contact 71K controlling, by a circuit comprising the contacts 54J and 68K, the closing of the relay <B> 52: </B> this one controls in 521 the switching of the relay. telephone line 51 on a resistor-capacitor loop 73 circuit, in 52K the closing of a recording relay <B> 75, </B> in <B> 52L </B> the closing of relay 54 of switching, in 52J the closing of relay 66 for reversing engine operation 40;
finally, the relay 52 comprises a holding contact 52M in a holding circuit slaved to the position of the inverter 421.
The recording relay 75 actuates a three-pole switch 75K for switching the output of the amplifier 50 to the record-read E / L head of the memory, an inverter 751 adapted to disconnect the I / L head the input of amplifier 50,
and finally a switch 75J controlling the closing of the supply circuit of an oscillator 80 generating an erasure signal for the erasing head Ef f connected to its output and a polarization current for the head E / L which is also coupled to this output by an adjustable capacitor 81.
Finally, we will note the presence of a so-called end of communication relay 76 controlled by the simultaneous closing of the switches 46K and 44K and controlling in its turn, by an inverter 711, the switching of the telephone line on a vibrator 77 and by its contact 76K the supply circuit thereof.
This device for transmitting an alternating end-of-communication signal is in principle suppressed on devices intended to be connected to a central battery telephone network.
The operation of the apparatus thus produced will now be explained, first in the case of normal operation in response to a telephone call and then in the case of a recording operation of the memory device under the command of a signal emitted by the clock.
<I> Normal operation </I> A telephone call arriving on line 51, relays 52 and 54 being assumed to be at rest, the inrush current rectified at 56 engages relay 57 whose contacts 57K in turn engage the intermediate delay 58.
This relay, which is maintained by its contact 58M and by the rest contact of the inverter 451, engages by its contact 58K <B> the </B> link 54 for switching the line. This relay causes by its contacts 54L the switching of the line on the output of the amplifier 50 and by its contact 54A the power supply of this amplifier; <B> l </B> the relay 54 will be maintained by its contact 54M, as soon as the inverter 451 switches;
it causes by its contact 541, by a circuit passing through the inverter 641 (high contact) the engagement of the relay 60 which closes the circuit of the motor 61 for positioning the heads 4, 6 and 8 and the setting in rotation of the cam 64 ..
At the end of a half-turn of this cam, the heads are engaged on a step of their respective grader wheel and the inverter 641 then being tilted, cuts the relay 60, while the switch 64K is switched on. closes and engages, via the inverter 681 at rest,
the relay 65, the switch 65K of which closes the ahnentation circuit of the motor 40, from where the shaft 14 and consequently of the shafts 14A and 14B are started.
This start of the main shaft 14 in. the normal direction (clockwise, arrows in solid lines) first causes the closing of the switch 41K which takes over the power supply to the relay 65, then a temporary tilting of the inverter 421: the The current pulse thus created triggers the relays 68 for preparing the release of the heads, the inverter 681 of which switches and which is maintained by the switch 64K (closed by the cam 64).
At the end of the first revolution of the shaft 14, the cam 45 closes the switch 45K which in turn resumes the maintenance of the relay 65; the same cam 45 on the other hand switches the inverter 451 which thus cuts off the maintenance of the intermediate relay 58, while resuming the maintenance of the line switching relay 54. Moreover, while during the first revolution of the shaft 14, the inverter 431 has closed the circuit of the reading head 2 of the call sign, during the second revolution of the shaft 14, the inverter 431 closes the circuit. magnitude reading heads 4-6-8 circuit.
This operation of alternating reading of the indicative and the magnitude is repeated for ten revolutions of the shaft 14, that is to say five times.
After the tenth revolution of the shaft 14, the cam 47 switches the inverter 471 which connects to the input of the amplifier 50 (by the inverter 751 at rest) the E / L recording head - reading die Memory.
During the eleventh revolution of shaft 14, the E / L head therefore reads the information recorded on a track of the memory tape; at the twelfth turn of the shaft 14, the E / L head is moved by its stepped wheel facing the next track and so on are announced the values of the magnitude recorded at earlier and older times. .
After the eighteenth revolution of shaft 14, cam 46 closes switch 46K. Towards the end of the nineteenth round, when switch 44K closes, the end of communication relay 76 is activated and switches via its inverter 761 the telephone line at the output of buzzer 77 whose circuit power supply is also closed by the 76K switch.
At the end of the twentieth turn, switch 45K and inverter 451 drop; the inverter 451 releases the line switching relay 54; switch 45K cuts the power to relay 65, but the latter is momentarily maintained by inverter 41K and this until the precise end of the twentieth turn.
The inverter 541 falling, causes the relay 60 to re-stick (by the inverter 641 held in the low position by the cam 64), which restarts the motor 61 for positioning the heads: this causes the heads to release. and after a half-turn of the cam 64, the inverter 641 goes back up by releasing the relay 60 and stopping the motor 61, while the switch 64K causes the release of the relay 68.
This completes the cycle of a normal transmission which therefore included, in response to a telephone call, the repeated utterance of the station code and of the current value of the quantity five times, then successively ten values of this quantity. ci recorded on the memory tape at earlier epochs conventionally determined in time by the clock. It is the operation of such a recording that we will now describe.
<I> Memory recording </I> The clock (not shown) emitting a beep of appropriate duration, contact 70 closes and engages relay 71.
If this event occurs during a transmission (switch 54J open), relay 71 is maintained while waiting by contacts 71M-527.
If there is no transmission or as soon as the current transmission is terminated, the switch 71K causes, by the switches 54J and 58K at rest, the engagement of the relay 52. This causes: by its inverter 521 switching line 51 to loopback circuit 73; its own maintenance by the switch <B> 52M; </B> the release of the relay 71 by the switch 52J at the same time as the engagement of the relay 66; the engagement by the switch 52L of the line switching relay 54 which will cause by the inverter 541 (as seen previously) the positioning of the read heads, while on the other hand, the closing of the switch 52K triggers the engagement of relay 75.
This relay, in its turn, ensures by the closing of the switches 75K the connection of the head E / L of the memory to the output of the amplifier 50; switch 75J closes the power supply circuit of oscillator 80 which will activate the erase head <I> Eff </I> and supply the E / L head with bias current for recording; finally, the inverter 751 ensures a grounding of the unused conductors to prevent clashes.
The engagement of the relay 66 prepared by the tilting of the inverter 661 the reversal of the direction of rotation of the motor 40.
After positioning of the read heads 4-6-8 by the motor 61, the tilting of the inverter 641 ensured, as in the previous case, the cutting of the relay 60, while the closing of the switch 64K has caused by inverter 681 (at rest) sticking of relay <B> 65: </B> motor 40 starts in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise direction, dotted arrows). With this direction of rotation, only the cams 41 and 42 are driven. The closing of the switch 41K ensures, as previously, the maintenance of the relay 65, while the reversing relay 66 is maintained by the switches 66J and 65M.
During the turn in the opposite direction of the main shaft 14, the heads 17 of the memory: having been left by the stepped wheel 26 opposite the track containing the oldest information, there is simultaneously produced the erasure of this oldest information by the <I> Eff </I> head and the recording by the E / L head of the present value of the quantity read by the heads 4, 6, 8. This transfer operation s This is done without any inconvenience in the reverse order of normal recording.
Thanks to the securing of the two drums, the transfer is ensured under the best conditions regardless of any speed variations (weeping, etc.).
At the end of this turn in the opposite direction, the projection of the cam 42 causes the reverser 421 to switch, which causes the take-off of the relay 52 and consequently the cut-off of the melais 54 which in turn takes off. The tilting of the inverter 421 will also have caused the sticking of the relay 68 which is maintained by the switch 64K; the fall-out of the inverter 541 closes, as in the previous case, the relay 60 and causes the disengagement of the heads, after which the inverter 641 falling, cuts the relay 60. The relay 68 which was maintained by the switch 64K re falls in turn.
Finally, the reversing relay 66, pre-released by the drop-out of the inverter 52J, remains maintained by the switches 66J and 65M until the opening of the switch 41K which marks the precise end of the turn; the cutting of the switch 41K causes the release of the relay 65 which in turn releases, by the cutting of the switch 65M, the reversing relay 66.
The arrangements described allow extreme simplification of the mechanical control system for the various functions. The normal transmit cycle control is separate from the memory save control. Safety is made complete by eliminating any clutch system prone to failure. The fact of rotating the drum for the memory recording in the opposite direction to that of the transmission, has simplified the control of the memory heads, the movement of which can thus remain permanently linked to the rotation of the drum.
After each normal transmission cycle, the device is ready for memory recording with the read heads 4, 6, 8 connected to the input of the amplifier (rest of the inverter 43I). After each memory recording, the heads 17 are located opposite the start of the last recorded track; thanks to the choice, for the statement of the present value of the magnitude, of a number of revolutions of the main shaft (14) equal to the number of steps of the stepped wheel 26, they are found in the same position at start of the reading period of the memory device.
Although the embodiment described seems preferable on account of its numerous and important advantages, one could perfectly well envision the use of a memory medium constituted by an endless belt or closed loop with step tracks born along it. this.
