Process for the production of endless rings for ball bearings of large diameter and slow rotary movements The endless rings of a ball bearing of large diameter for slow rotary movements were previously machined from a blank bent into a ring and welded with the ends.
Since the requirements for the bearing precision in ball bearings for slow Drehbewe conditions, especially when the ball bearing is used as a driving steering ring or the like, are generally not very high, such a method appears to be too expensive. The aim of the invention is to create a ball bearing that is sufficiently accurate for the stated need, but much cheaper, and whose shape does not need to be different from known shapes.
In the manufacturing process according to the invention, a non-cutting pre-formed and welded at the ends, annular blank from a single ring or a double ring forming two mirror-inverted single rings is calibrated in a device to be leveled the same in diameter; The calibration of the ball track of each individual ring is done afterwards outside of this device using rolling tools.
In the method according to the invention, no further processing of the ball bearing rings is required or, at least in the case of a blank made of rolled bar material, it is limited to a minimum. A blank is therefore preferably provided for the method according to the invention, which is made of drawn or extruded material.
Ball bearing rings produced according to the method according to the invention can be recognized by the type of upper surface, which, depending on the starting material, is a rolled skin or the typical surface of drawn or extruded material. The ball track is smooth and work-hardened as a result of rolling. Above all, the latter gives the bearing the property of absorbing sudden loads without damage, without the need for the rings to be made of such high quality material as the known ball bearing rings are made of.
Exemplary embodiments of the method according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. In the drawing: Fig. 1 shows a part of a section through a ball bearing for a vehicle steering ring, Fig. 2, 3, 4 and 5 in cross section bar profiles for the production of the rings of the ball bearing according to Fig. 1 and Fig.6 and 7 rollers of rolling tools for machining a profile according to FIG. 3.
The ball bearing shown in FIG. 1 comprises an outer ring 1 with an inwardly extending screw-on flange 2, a corresponding inner ring 3 and a number of bearing balls 4. For the assembly of the bearing, one of the rings 1 or 3 has a lockable one, not shown Breakthrough for filling in the balls.
Each of the rings 1 and 3 is made from a rod with a profile according to FIG. 2- which is rolled, drawn or extruded. The rod is bent into a single ring and welded at the ends, preferably butt-welded.
The welding point is conveniently sanded over by hand. Regrinding can be omitted if the rod is pointed on the side of the ball raceway before welding in such a way that a small depression remains after welding, which the bearing ball 4 can overrun without any noticeable impact during the slow rotary movement.
The so produced, so non-cutting finished formed, annular blank is placed in the jaws of a spreader provided with ten radial to each other running slide for example, and calibrated in diameter, d. H.
rounded to the size of the caliber and expanded. The blank is not only placed in the device, but is clamped tightly in it so that the ring is leveled at the same time as the stretching deformation in the sense of increasing the diameter.
This is because it is difficult to produce a geometrically sufficiently precise blank, since when the profile rods are bent, their flanges tend to deviate from the flatness, with an unevenness formed over the entire circumference of the ring. Furthermore, the blank is usually twisted or does not have a sufficiently precise cylindrical shape.
The spreading device is therefore designed in such a way that not only is the ring shaped circular, with the angle legs being directed exactly perpendicular to one another, but that at the same time the screw-on flange has a practically absolute flatness, ie. H. that the finished ring would, for example, lie snugly on a faceplate with its entire circumference. The spreading device thus fulfills a double purpose.
The spreading device used in the method can be a known device of the type that extends the ring clamped in it all around beyond the yield point of the material and thus not only causes the ring to be completely round, but also that the inner, Tensions that arise in the manufacture of each blank are eliminated or at least greatly reduced.
This can also be achieved by a device that does not spread the ring but compresses it. While an expansion device is less expensive than an upsetting device, the latter has the pleasant property of not endangering the area of the weld seam with cracks.
Then the ring for calibrating the ball track is clamped by means of rolling tools, for example on a lathe, the support of which has a pair of rolling tools.
The rings 1 and 3 can also be made from a rod with a profile according to FIG. This profile is easier to pull. Such a rod is bent into a ring in the same way as described above and welded at the ends. Then the profile is deformed with a Kali overroll 6 (FIG. 6) of a rolling tool and a pivotable counter-roller 7, as indicated in FIG. 6, in which the rollers 6 and 7 are in the end position.
The ring-shaped blank obtained in this way is then calibrated in diameter as described, whereupon the ball track is calibrated by rolling tools. The counter roller 7 does not necessarily have to be pivotable. According to Figure 7, a profiled roller is used as a counter roller 8, which can ben radially. This role 8 is suitable to be at the same time counter role during the calibration of the ball raceway 9 as soon as the bending process is finished.
The pre-bending is not a special work process, since there is no tool change and no new clamping of the ring, it is only a preliminary stage of calibration.
Since the rings 1 and 3 have an angular profile, they can also be made from rods with a profile according to Figure 4 or Figure 5. These profiles make drawing and, above all, bending even easier, as they have a symmetrical U-shape. Such a rod is bent into a ring as described above and welded, whereby an annular blank is obtained, which forms a double ring forming two mirror-inverted single rings, which as described ben in. Diameter is calibrated. The double ring is then cut off at the marked point 5 on the lathe.
In the case of a profile according to FIG. 5, the deformation of the profile according to FIG. 6 then takes place as described above. The ball races are then calibrated on the individual rings obtained from the double ring using rolling tools.
Instead of producing the blanks from profile bars, they could of course also be cut out of a part bent in a helical shape to form several turns. However, it is more expedient to produce the blank from a rod previously cut to exact length. The ends that remain straight here when the rod is bent round receive the curvature only in the spreading device, whereby the resulting tensions are set in the weld seam which prevent cracks from developing in the area of the weld seam.
If necessary, the ends can also be pre-bent negatively, so in this simple way one has a means in hand to predict the stress distribution occurring during the stretching in the area of the weld seam.
The rings 1 and 3 produced in the manner described have relatively small wall thickness. The dimensioning of the wall thickness of the rings can be based solely on the operational stress on the bearing. In contrast, rings which are machined and not according to the invention have thicker walls because the machining requires this.
